This winter is almost coming to an end and I finally got around to skin care products for outdoors (walks and winter sports) in winter. Want to take a brief look at products that will give the necessary protection. If you like long walks in the fresh winter air or do winter sports, you need to provide your skin with some extra cold-wind-sun protection. As I have mentioned many times in the previous winter skin care posts, in the cold weather skin’s barrier functions are lowered as a result it doesn’t keep moisture in and becomes an easy prey for free radicals. When you are outdoors a long time, you need to make sure you keep up the lipid barrier of your skin and protect it against UV light.Rule No 1: Do not use a water based moisturizer! If the temperatures are really low and it is windy

      Breakfast Outdoors
I'm not sure what it is about my husband when he feeds, but the horses and goats have developed some odd morning habits now. I went out to feed and I feed the horses each only one half of scoop of grain first and then I put two flakes of hay in their feeder. I then go back to the feed shed and get a large full scoop of grain for the goats and one flake of hay for them. Once the girls' grain is their exactly the same over the fence feeders, Misty will now take one, maybe two large gulps of grain while Kola scrambles to get as much as she can, then Misty decides that Kola has more and kicks her out of her grain and Kola tries to finish what Misty has left. In the mean time while I'm feeding the goats, Herman goes straight to what is now Misty's feeder, which originally starts as Kola's feeder and fights Misty via head butt and her ears back to get that grain before he realizes that his goat buddies are scoffing up their grain. It's like a well rehearsed comedic ballet! Please visit

Fun Things to do Outdoors with Your Family

Starting spending time with your kids when they are young will strengthen your relationship, get them physically active, and teach them how to have fun without video games or T.V. The follow are ideas for fun things to do with your kids out doors that don't cost much money; if any at all. 1.Walk quietly "like a fox", and see how close you can get to a rabbit or squirrel. 2.Watch birds and then imitate them, study how birds move differently.Collect bird feathers and try to find out which type of birds they belong to.3.Look at different spider webs and see what types of spiders make them. Make your own spider webs at home with cotton gauze. 4.Look for animal signs: tracks, poop, feathers, matted down patches of grass, nibbled plants, scratches in tree bark...5.Make crayon rubbings of leafs 6.Collect rocks and find out which types they are, and why rocks have different colors. 7.St

These majestic animals will create a lifetime memory! The Sperm whales, Gray whales, and Humpback whales also pass through during the during the winter and summer providing an opportunity for perhaps just a glimpse. The Sperm and Humpback Whales might be a little more elusive as they are still endangered. But you stand a good chance of spotting a gray whale whose numbers are on the rise.Winter whale watching lasts usually runs the last week of December through the first week of January while summer w

      Boots for being Outdoors
Being a dog person, you will find me outdoors a lot in all seasons. I have been known to be wading through mud when herding, or freezing my feet off in the snow while herding. Or being out in agility in a major rain storm. Usually obedience is indoors, fortunately, but sometimes it is outdoors too in the summer. When I am outside in the mud and weather, I really need good boots. Danner boots are very good boots for being outdoors in dog things! Danner boots also have military boots and police boots, as well as outdoor and work boots. They have a wide range of different types that will meet your needs. They are very well priced, and they also have free shipping for orders over $100. So if you are looking for some good boots you might want to check them out!

      Cooking in the Outdoors
I like cooking with a Dutch oven, whether it be over a campfire or a camp stove. There is something special about cooking wth a Dutch Oven. Once you get the hang of it you can cook or bake anything that can be cooked or baked at home.I have baked delicious one dish meals such as stew and soups in a Dutch Oven that have turned out perfect especially when out in the outdoors. Other meals and snacks that can be made are pizza, rolls, and cakes. Meat is another savory meal that can be cooked to perfection in a Dutch Oven. There are a few things concerning the cooking source that are important to fruitful Dutch oven cooking. They can cause the difference between undercooked or burnt food. When I am near cooking a meat dish such as ribs, chicken or roast, I like to brown the meat in the Dutch oven on a camp stove. The delcious flavor from the browned meat is in the Dutch oven and makes the finished product tasty. Another thing it does is this gets the Dutch oven hot so when it is placed on the

      The Great Outdoors
Not much time today as I’m hoping to sneak off early and get on a train to Lucern/Luzern for the weekend. The Golden Shrimp and myself have decided to sample the Swiss outdoors and we’re off camping. Before I met The GS I had a horrible impression of camping. The only time I’d been camping before that was with the Scouts. And since my Dad was one of the leaders we generally ended up camping in a field behind our house. So I’d wake in the morning, look across the field and I could see my bedroom window. Of course, it wasn’t the proximity to my comfortable bed and centrally heated house that got to me. It was the eejits I was sharing a tent with. We all got settled into the green canvas tents and were told explicitly to avoid rubbing the inside walls of the tent. They’d been waxed to keep the rain out. You may as well have paid them per square foot of rubbing. By the time the Monaghan monsoon kicked in later that evening we’d have done just as w

Our Weekend Outdoors, Complete With Screaming
So after the stress of last week, we had a full weekend outdoors where I tried hard to forget about anything involving the word "evaluation". But it kept coming back at me.Saturday we spent the day at a picnic with several good friends, many of whom we haven't seen in months. One couple has a son who had many of the same issues that Cordy does now (he's two years older), and it was nice to sit and discuss solutions they have come across to help him. At one point my friend remarked that it was like we had twins born two years apart. But her son has made incredible progress in the past two years, giving me a lot of hope that Cordy will, too.Cordy had a wonderful time running in the large open backyard. She spent most of the time on her own, but she did join the two (older) boys in a quick ball game. Actually, she chased them, shouting "Ball! Cordy kick the ball!" and occasionally they'd stop and let her kick the ball.Running with the big boysFuture soccer star - just look at that form

Monatana Outdoors: Sportsmen's group does battle with Cabela's over land sales
By MARK HENCKELMontana Outdoors The Montana Wildlife Federation is waging a war of words with outdoor gear retail giant Cabela's over its Cabela's Trophy Properties recreational real estate listing business and how it may affect hunter access in Montana. It began with a letter to Cabela's president and CEO Dennis Highby from MWF executive director Craig Sharpe on May 30. It continued with a letter back from Trophy Properties' manager David Nelson a few days later. And it resumed last Tuesday with another letter from Sharpe to Highby. What sparked the controversy was Cabela's involvement in selling key pieces of wildlife habitat, including the 29,000-acre Weaver Ranch, north of Winnett, which had been enrolled in the state's Block Management Program. Through the Block Management Program, farmers and ranchers are paid by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to provide free public access to resident and nonresident hunters.Rest of the Article at: Billings GazetteHuntinglife.com is a pro

      Outdoors Blogger Summit
The outdoor blog world is abuzz with all kinds of talk and plans about how to create a summit in regards to all of the outdoor world. Whether it is fishing, outdoors or hunting we have a growing group of people who are starting to write about their passions and it is an exciting world opening up to many people. So do we need a summit? Why not?My suggestion is to have the event a couple of days before either the Shot Show, The Safari Club National Convention, or the RMEF National Convention. Now the Shot Show will probably provide the cheapest flights and the best rooms. I am sure we can get some meeting rooms and some demonstrations and more from some of the various exhibitors at the shot show if someone gets on the phone by no later then August. As well various technology players are going to want some access to our group to talk about new technology and what is available out there to help us get the great message of great hunting, great human stories, great conservation stori

      Who needs to go outdoors?
Her Side: It’s hard to bring nature into your home without it looking like the gardening department at Home Depot. … or CAN YOU?! Yes you can… for $4465 you can have a plush carpet of LEAVES! yes each leaf is cut to mimic the real thing on trees but have the softness of wool and felt. Talk about luxury.   $4465.00   what?! you don’t HAVE $4465 dollars just lying around? Well .. then .. meet FredFlare.. who is bringing you something kinda similar for $24. Yes .. its green it has daisies and it reminds of spring time frolicking. But you might have to pass on the rolling around on it, since its welcome mat sized and made of similar materials. But it sure is CUTE!   His Side: We saw the first carpet on freshome.com …designer and 100%wool, its wicked cool. But the price tag is so outrageous thats all I’m gonna say about it. The second one is a welcome mat from the girlfriend’s perennial favorite: fredflare.com. Her Verdict:

Spitzer wants to boost NY outdoors
One again, Eliot Spitzer is skirting his promise of no new taxes.  Expanding the bottle bill to increase revenues may not technically be a tax, but the result is the same.  More money will be taken from state residents to fund ever increasing state spending.  Grannis presented Spitzer’s plan Monday at a meeting of the New York State Conservation Council. Among the changes would be to use the “I Love New York” tourism program to promote hunting and fishing opportunities; use increased funding to the state from expanding the bottle bill to cover non-carbonated beverages and water to fund creation of new fishing sites and boat launches; and consulting with sportsmen’s groups before any new gun laws are introduced. The New York State Conservation Council should look up the definition of the word conserve.   con·serve (kən-sûrv‘) v., -served, -serv·ing, -serves. v.tr. I Love The Outdoors …. Only If It's Air-Conditioned
I think I’ve made my parents mad yesterday. We were supposed to have a nice, fun family outing to Botanic Gardens. Since we didn’t get to go to the Taman Serasi Food Centre the other time with the other Bambinos, Daddy suggested we go there for breakfast. So there we were, having our pratas and coffee. Ayeed was getting a little restless because it was his nap time. And me? I was running about like a headless chicken. Of course, Daddy had to stop me in case I ran into someone with a plate full of prata. Wouldn’t want to get curry all over my curly hair, now do we? So he forced me, or rather bribed me (by letting me play with his PDA), to sit down and eat my prata with egg. Even though I couldn’t sit still, I was happy being there at the food centre because …. there was air-conditioning. It was a rather hot day! Soon it was time to go because cranky monkey Momo was getting noisy and wanted us to start walking instead of sitting down and enjoying a leisurely
