Finally finish my dreadful two weeks. Not only does work piled up so high in office, I also had to dwell deep into textbooks for my final exam. ^^ had my two papers this morning so I now I am as free as what. Tonnes of backlog of figure reviews. (still have one figure waiting [...]
Finally, after what seemed like six months of waiting, There Will Be Blood finally made it out to the boondocks that is the east coast, and it was worth it. Daniel Day-Lewis will clean up at the Oscars, and if he doesn’t, I will start my own strike against the Oscars right as the WGA [...]
The Otaku conquest of the world continues with our latest ally turning out to be a small island in the middle of the pacific ocean. Guam is an overseas territory of USA with a population of less that 180, 000 people. More than 120 of them came out to Guams first ever Otaku Fest and from the looks of it, they had fun.

I was surfing about the blogosphere when I noticed a comment on a post about browsers mentioning a browser called Lolifox. I thought to myself; there is a browser that I don’t even know about? How is this possible! So I looked it up on Google and discovered it was a variant of Firefox with modifications to make it anime themed! When you install it you get several useful bookmarks in your bookmark list like AnimeSuki, but what I thought was the greatest part of it was the default start page. The start page has a search box that can search not only the popular search engines such as Google and Yahoo, but it can even search several anime-centric bit torrent sites such as AnimeSuki and Tokyo Toshokan!
You can download it yourself at Lolifox! It’s my new default browser. ^_^
The modern age of Anime arrive in Japan in the 1960s, and over the course of the next decade or so boomed into the giant robot, space battle genre bender that we would soon recognize as the anime of today.Evolving over the next 30 years or so, it reached a peak where it could begin to overtake and become an integral part of other cultures, much like the Hollywood of the 1930s quickly grew to encompass the rest of the world and inform their pop culture. In the same manner, American pop culture becomes increasingly informed by the trends and cult response to anime.Anime first appeared in the US market in the 60s with shows like Kimba the White Lion and Astroboy. However, the national consciousness as to where these shows came from as well as the poor marketing of the shows made them forgettable and rather than a jumping in point, they act as a nostalgic reminder. When Speed Racer arrived, the beginnings of a true consciousness that Japan was creating something new and exciting began to se
When I first read this I thought this was some sick joke are a misunderstanding but it turns out to be true. A young woman in China reported to be in her 20s smashed open not one but two ATM screens.
An anime character appearing on the ATM screen to help customers transact their business was seen by the Chinese woman and she having the wishful thinking that the anime character was inside the machine smashed it open because she wanted to see the character that was inside the ATM. After smashing the first one and failing she went on to smash another one thinking shed have better luck! Everyone is wondering which anime character was inside the machine and so am I.

About 6 months back I took this video of an Otaku tearing it up at a breakdancing competition. I shot this video just in front of Toyohashi Eki (豊橋駅前). The dance he does at the end is from Hare Hare Yukai, If you've seen the anime, you'll understand how hilarious that makes it :)
In the heart of downtown Vancouver, right on Granville St. you can find the Nerd Nirvana known as Golden Age Collectables. These guys carry more manga, anime, graphics novels and figures than you’d ever care to know existed. When I was in Vancouver on business recently I picked up a copy of NextWave here and blogged about how awesome it is. This place is jam-packed full of awesomeness of such magnitude as NextWave. They also had probably everything Neil Gaiman has ever written, including more obscure stuff like the edition of Sandman with art from Yoshitaka Amano. For those that don’t know; Mr. Amano was the concept artist for all the Final Fantasy games up until X. His brilliant artistry and unique style is well known in Otakudom. (more…)
Si podemos imaginar lo que un otaku/friki podría hacer con su cuarto, ¿podríamos imaginar lo que podría hacer con su auto? ¡No hace falta usar la imaginación! Aquí hay fotos que prueban a qué grado...

There are lots of fans of Japan in the world, we geeks dont have hide in our basements or hide or otakuness to remain cool anymore. In fact, lately we have been in demand now many consider us cool. Whether you are an Otaku or not you have to tip your hat, helmet or any other cranial protection device you might be wearing to this lil fellow.
An Otaku expression caught on camera has never looked cooler, check out the flag he is wearing. I dont know much about this picture other than it was taken in Brazil in 2005; I found it through my stumbleupon toolbar. All rights belong to the source, which can be found here.
I have already branded myself as one but learned so much more about the term from a short post on a new Japan related blog I recently discovered. A somewhat straight from the dictionary meaning of the word Otaku that I recently posted is explained as "a Japanese pejorative term used to refer to a variety of geek particularly one obsessed with computers, or anime and manga."
What of the origins of the word, this post explains it quite nicely. ^_^
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, when anime and manga fans in Japan were meeting one another at domestic conventions, they began to recognize one another's faces, though they did not know each other by name. By way of greeting, they said, "ota-ku," roughly meaning "hey, you," though with the more formal, less casual intimations of the French second-person address, "vous." In American English, it might be more like, "Hello there, sir." In 1983, when Japan's economy was beginning its monumental rise, journalist Akio Nakamori wrote a seriali
Maid costume today One of the most popular outfits of Japanese Cosplay is the maid costume known as "maid fuku (fuku=clothes)". Cosplay, or rather, costume playing, dressing up in a variety of costumes in public or private, is a very popular pastime for many young people in Japan. There are [...][ read the article ]
Today I found this website in meneame, where Linux is very appreciated. Those are a series of very artistically wallpapers where we can see Linux distributions’ OS-Tan
The artist has some more pieces of her work available at Deviantart.
Ok, now you may be wondering what OS-Tan is. Perhaps something similar to habitaquo? Well, it’s a creation, but it has nothing to do with habitaquo.
The OS-Tan are some manga girls (in case you want to find the boys you have to look for OS-kun) who personify the many operating systems (OS), each one having its own behaviour. It all started then the Japanese from Futaba Channel imagined WindowsME as a problematic and doubtful girl. From that time on many characters for all Windows versions, some other OSs and software have been created.
There are comic books with all of them, and each aspect of the Operating System is represent within their behaviour.
In Spanish there are few available, but some time ago I read some translated comic books at
