Each year at Christmas time came one of those things my mom made me do as a child that I disliked at the time, but now treasure dearly. Each year I was required to create some kind of homemade Christmas gift for each set of grandparents and my aunts and uncles. I’m sure this was more of a pain for her than it was for me during my younger years but still, coming up with an idea and then reproducing it nine times each year would start out as fun but eventually my attitude would slip into the realm of I have how many left to do? How am I possibly going to finish all of these gifts before Christmas??
It has been about 15 years since I made my last set of gifts but I have come to realize how much my family treasured those items crafted by my own hands - the ultimate ‘Made in the USA’ gift. My grandmother has decorated an end table in her living room for the past 30 years with a candy dish my mom helped me make.  My godmother is teaching my younger cousins about
I joined Kailani for her ornament swap, but my swap partner stood me up:( Kailani was kind enough to send me a beautiful ornament straight from Hawaii. Wesley loves the hawaiian Santa Clause. She even had our name written on the outside. Thanks so much, Kailani. Here is our Christmas tree:) I could NOT get a good photo of it because my camera has a very HARSH flash. I could not get a nice one of the tree, so I am using this cool one that Wesley took. The kid can't even stand still long enough to take a photo of the tree. HEE!!On another note; we received Wesley's Christmas gift in the mail. We ordered him a used guit.ar he.ro off of eb.ay so we wanted to make sure that it worked. While he was at karate we took it out and gave it a test run. One hour later, we decided that it works just fine! May have to give it one more try out tonight just in case! LOL!!!******************************************************************************************************************
Thanks so much
I think that ornaments say a lot about a person. After all, there are tons and tons to choose from so whichever you select to display on your tree, it must have some sort of significance, right?
As for us, I think I mentioned before that during every holiday season, we all go to the store and everyone gets to pick a new ornament for the tree. Here are this year’s selections:
Baby Bug’s because she loves Elmo. Plus, it’s one of the few words she can actually say.
Girlie Girl’s because she loves pink. Wonder where she got that from?
DH’s because he’s an ice cream fanatic. Plus, it kind of looks like him since he hasn’t been surfing much lately.
and mine because I really want a “frosted candy” themed tree. I’ve been trying to find frosted candy garlands but all the online stores won’t ship to Hawaii. Boo!
This year we have an extra special addition from Sher’s Wares & Everything Mom! She was one of my partn

I saw this and decided to try as it will be Christmas very soon. The result here is kinda true. I love every part of the holiday especially with my family around. As far as the holiday shopping habits, I am generous but not out of control. Pretty standard and I always end up spending more than I planned. But I guess that's normal for most of us. Don't you think? You Are a TreeYou love every part of the holidays, down to the candy canes and stockings. And you're goofy enough to put a Christmas tree ornament on your tree!

I have a pickle ornament on my tree. I don’t have any kids to search for it but I like the idea of hanging a pickle from my Christmas Tree. The Christmas pickle is supposed to have originated in Germany. As the story goes the pickle was the last ornament placed on the Christmas Tree. On the day the gifts were opened the child that found the pickle ornament was given another special gift. There is some debate around the origin of that story. I don’t care one way or the other. A cool ornament is a cool ornament. You can check out the Christmas Pickle story here. If you need your own Christmas pickle ornament just do a google search. There are plenty of places selling them.
For only $14.95, you too can buy the US Troop Unborn Baby Ornament. Here is the description:Protect our troops - from the womb to the war. What if the fetus you were going to abort would grow up to be a soldier bringing democracy to a godless dictatorship?Plastic replica of an 11-12 week old fetus, 3" long, holding a firearm in its precious little hand, with an assortment of other military paraphernalia, encased in a translucent plastic ornament, with a patriotic yellow ribbon on top. Includes a metal ornament hanger. If only a womb were this safe, attractive and reasonably priced! Show that you support the "culture of life" by buying and proudly displaying one of these patriotic unborn Americans. This is also available in a "Brown" model, pictured below, but those are considered cheaper and more disposable by most Christians.
Every year, we put up our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. It’s a holiday tradition. While most people get up before it’s even light outside to stand in long lines on the biggest shopping day of the year, we sleep in. After breakfast, DH puts up our tree and we spend the morning decorating it and the house.
Before the girls, our tree was always color coordinated and the ornaments symmetrically placed. Now, it’s just a mismatched of princesses, Disney characters, candy garlands, snowmen, and traditional ornaments. Nothing matches and I love it that way. Each year I take Girlie Girl to the store to pick out one brand new ornament to add to the tree. I put her name and the year on it so that one day she can look back and see what she chose.
This year, in addition to Girlie Girl & Baby Bug’s addition, I’d also like to add an ornament from one of my blogging friends. That’s why I’ve decided to host a Christmas Ornament Exchange

I've been wanting to get my hands on trying to do some shaker boxes and with my latest project on altering christmas paper clips, I've decided to give it a go.I've made some ornaments shaker boxes to use it as part of the design for my christmas paper clips.Just follow the steps below to create your own shaker boxes.1. First cut out two circles out of plain card stocks. One must be slightly bigger than the other. On the bigger circle, cut out a circle window which is small than the other circle. Cover the bigger circle with patten papers, paints or anything that you wish. Since it's a christmas ornament that I'm making, I've written "Merry Christmas" on the smaller circle after I've used some ink to dab on the background.2. Cut some foam double sided tapes to cover the edges of the smaller circle as above.3. Fill the middle with some confetti of any kind of colours and theme. But make sure that the colours you chose works perfectly with the overall look of your shaker boxes or y
This is a mini christmas ornament addresses album that I've made for a christmas swap that I'm in. Inside this album are all the individual photographs and addresses of all the members of the group that I'm doing the swap for. I've added some sequins, ric-rac and some blings to get more dimensions and textures on the ornament.
We have learned to never take ourselves too seriously and that, when it comes to TFTS, it never hurts to inject a little humour now again and, to that end, we do like to feature some of the more bizarre items we come across whilst trawling the interweb for the latest gadgets and technology – hence our slogan ‘From cutting edge, to over the edge to the truly bizarre’. And, when it comes to curious items, we consider this wholly bizarre Mini Dentist Surgery Ornament quite a find (we must take our medication).
Quite why anyone would want one of these ornaments in their home or office is completely beyond us but if you happen to have a fixation for all things dentistry – and we’re sure some sort of dentistry fetish group exists out there somewhere – then this finely crafted homage to dentist surgeries may well float your boat.
Measuring it at 8.6cm x 10.8cm x 7cm and made from what the website describes as ‘Silver925’ with enamel coating mounted on a wooden base the mini
Following on from the Shock Absorber Pen featured in our previous post, I could not allow this piston kit to go unmentioned (which, incidentally, is available from the same online retailer) as anyone with any interest in engines or basic mechanics cannot fail to love this great animated ornament.
Ideal for teaching young children the basic mechanics behind engines, or just as a distinctly unique office gadget, this kit, once assembled, results in a piston will actually work by steam alone simply by placing it on top of cup of boiling water.
One of the most unique ornaments we’ve come across, this piston kit retails for approximately $107 (excluding shipping) and can be purchased from this Korean online retailer.

Look what came in the mail today!
It’s my Christmas ornament from Connie at Mumbo Jumbo! Girlie Girl was so excited at seeing the first signs of Christmas! Thank you to Stranded in the Mountains for organizing this wonderful event!
Now, if only we could decide on what to do about a tree.
When Girlie Girl was younger, we didn’t have a Christmas tree because we were afraid that she would eat it. You know how babies are - everything goes in the mouth. Now that we have Baby Bug, we’re up against the same problem. However, I don’t think it’s fair for GG not to have a tree.
We are considering getting an artificial tree. Does anyone out there have one? Do you like it? Does it look real?
Any other suggestions?

Car thieves take note: your Grail has arrived. Motor Authority reports somewhere out there exists a platinum and diamond Spirit of Ecstasy. Where you ask? Dunno. See, the new Rollers feature a retractable hood ornament so as to spoil your pilfering plans. Of course we would guess that with a little ingenuity (and a crowbar) an enterprising and upwardly mobile thief could determine if a particular Rolls contained said ornament. Commissioned by Manhattan Motorcars as a, "tribute to the car itself," the dictionary definition of gaudy costs a cool $200,000 -- about half the price of a Phantom. One way to think of such an expenditure is as an investment -- precious metals are only getting more and more valuable. Another way is as a testament to the power of the capitalist system, and t
