Orbiter Catches Sounds from Phoenix Mars Descent
"A European spacecraft caught sounds from NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander during its screaming Sunday descent to the red planet's arctic surface. The European Mars Express beamed the audio data to Earth shortly after NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander touched down in the Martian arctic late Sunday. The signal from Phoenix's descent comes through loud and clear after processing by the Mars Express Flight Cont

      ORBITER Space Flight Simulator
ORBITER is a free flight simulator that goes beyond the confines of Earth's atmosphere. Launch the Space Shuttle from Kennedy Space Center to deploy a satellite, rendezvous with the International Space Station or take the futuristic Delta-glider for a tour through the solar system - the choice is yours. But make no mistake - ORBITER is not a space shooter. The emphasis is firmly on realism, and

SELENE(Kaguya) Lunar Space Orbiter Spacecraft Papercraft
SELENE (Selenological and Engineering Explorer) (Ancient Greek: Σελήνη, moon), better known in Japan by its nickname Kaguya (かぐや, Kaguya), is the second Japanese lunar orbiter spacecraft. Produced by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science and NASDA (both organizations that are now part of the Japan Aero Space Exploration Agency, or JAXA), the spacecraft was launched September 14,2007-wikiThere are two models, the first is a colored but simplified version while the second is un-colored and a little bit complicated. Avalanches in Planet Mars Pictured by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter
Avalanches on the North Polar Scarps in the Planet Mars was caught by the High Resolution Imaging Experiment (HiRISE) on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter - the first ever image of active avalanches near it's north pole.Ingrid Daubar Spitale of the University of Arizona, Tucson, who works on targeting the camera and has studied hundreds of HiRISE images, was the first person to notice the avalanches. "It really surprised me," she said. "It's great to see something so dynamic on Mars. A lot of what we see there hasn't changed for millions of years.""We don't know what set off these landslides," said Patrick Russell of the University of Berne, Switzerland, a HiRISE team collaborator. "We plan to take more images of the site through the changing Martian seasons to see if this kind of avalanc

SPIRIT UPDATE: Spirit Loses, Re-Establishes Contact with Orbiter
The Martian Rovers Spirit and Opportunity we’re originally planned for a 90 day mission and they are now in year 3 on Mars. Incredible doesn't even begin to describe what a phenomenal success this project has been. I was never one of the people suggesting that NASA abandon manned space flight and focus on robotic missions such as the Rovers, Galileo or Cassini which have all been amazing success stories. I have always been in favor of manned space flight but let's be realistic and look at the lackluster results the last few years in the manned arena. But that's not the topic tonight. Below is the latest updates on the Rovers from their homepage. ~RJH Martian Rover Update page SPIRIT UPDATE: Spirit Loses, Re-Establishes Contact with Orbiter - sol 1132-1140, March 20, 2007:Spirit is healthy but had to sit out a Martian day waiting to send data to Earth while the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter was in safe mode. Both the rover and the orbiter share the same X-band frequency with Earth an
