      Optimism - Power Quotes Series
I am sure that you know at least one person that is always optimistic. I think that they bring a ray of sunshine to every room they walk into. It is always a great joy to be around them. As the picture shows to the right, Winston Churchhill said it best that the optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. Typically negative people hate to see an optimistic person walk into a room. I think t

Being a fan of Markos may be unoriginal and pedestrian, but put me down as one. More than any other major blogger, I feel like his commentary on the days after disappointing primary nights gives me the boost I need to feel good about things again. In my eyes he demonstrates real leadership. And for those with large platforms but few words of inspiration, who prefer the pretension of "neutrality" and smirking nonchalance about the swings of fortune in this campaign to real emotional engagement, who seem to think that treating my candidate our candidate like he's just another politician shows intellectual depth, rather than (in my view) a pitiable detachment from the vigor and passion that we must draw upon in order to bring about political change in this country that I love deeply…wel

Italian Consumer Optimism Tumbles to Lowest in Four Years
Italian consumer confidence fell to the lowest in almost four years in March as rising prices and slowing economic growth sapped optimism in Europe's fourth- biggest economy. The Rome-based Isae Institute's index, based on a survey of 2,000 families, fell to 99 from a revised 102.8 last month. The reading was lower than the median forecast of 102.4 by 17 economists in a Bloomberg News survey. Today's reading is the lowest since May 2004.Italians have been cutting back on their spending, which makes up two-thirds of the $2 trillion economy, as a surge in the cost of food and transportation curbs disposable income. ISAE predicts the Italian economy will grow as little as 0.5 percent this year, the slowest pace since 2003. Oil prices above $100 a barrel have driven the Italian inflation rate t

That’s because the Chicago real estate market is generally steadier than other markets. Chicago condo and single-family home values, for instance, have held up better than similar units across the nation even during the worst days of our housing slump. The latest financial pro to express optimism about the housing market is none other than Ben Bernanke, Federal Reserve Chairman. Naturally, If Mr. Buffet sees a business opportunity in insuring municipal bonds then it is likely that Buffet considers municipal bonds to be ‘good credit’ caught in a bad market situation. The insurance companies, Ambac, MBIA and FGIC, were definitely not too eager to accept the offer. Motivation Monday - The Power of Optimism
Focusing on work during the holidays is extremely hard.  In fact, I heard from the radio that one in three people admit that they are thinking about Christmas more than work in December.  With all the shopping lists and parties to worry about, there just doesn’t seem to be any space to fit work in especially since it is Monday morning! Hang in there my friends; there is still one more week before it is the week of Christmas.  Feel happy because the holidays are coming, but don’t get lazy as the days off draws near.  Think about all the people that are unemployed and you will feel better that you have a place to work in. I know you feel like Friday is very far away but the weekend is getting closer and closer as you read this article.  Trust the power of optimism because it will lead you to success.  Didn’t Friday just got closer? Optimism Isn't Always Healthy
People are generally optimistic, believing they'll do better in the future than they've done in the past. This time around, I'll actually use that gym membership. I'm sticking to the diet this time. Now is the time to start saving for a down payment on a house. However, a new study in the Journal of Consumer Research reveals that this "optimism bias" can lead us to make immediate choices that go against our long-term goals.Click here to see the rest of this article on Medical News Todaypermalink TechnoratiPhilippine Nursing http://Philippinenursing.blogspot.com

A promising employment report lifted stocks yesterday, with the main indexes erasing two days of declines on renewed optimism about the outlook for the economy.
While the report is considered less important than the Labor Department’s measure of job growth, which will be released tomorrow, the strong number took many in the market by surprise. “That came out of left field, huh?” said Joshua Shapiro, chief United States economist at the research firm MFR. Economists had expected a gain of about 70,000 jobs for November. “It’s not a dead lock that we’re going to get a good payroll number, but it certainly caused me to raise my estimates.” The government’s report on November employment will be the last piece of important data before the Fed meets on Tuesday, when policy makers are expected to cut interest rates by at least a quarter-point. Fed officials have hinted that they are open to lowering rates to help avert a recession, but a sign of underlying strength — like a big gain in jobs — could persuade them to take a less aggressive stance. “The economy might prove more resilient than a lot of the doomsayers have been sayin

Researchers Narrow Optimism To Part of Brain
A good thing has happened? Or is it bad. Well, I’m usually an optimist so I’ll say it is good news. The study’s co-authors, Elizabeth Phelps of New York University and Tali Sharot of University College London, have discovered the part of the brain that is responsible for controlling the level of optimism a person has. A study was concluded by researchers where 15 people had their brains scanned using magnetiic resonance imaging. The study showed that in optimistic people, a certain part of the image was brighter. This part of the brain is called the rostral anterior cingulate cortex (rAAC). In depressed people, this part of the brain is found to be malfunctioning. Natural gas stocks lead energy gains Reports of the presence of the first La Nina weather pattern in nearly seven years popped up on investors' radar screens. If a cold winter in the Northeast takes place as a result of the weather pattern, natural gas prices could rise. After week two, the Hoosiers are 2-0. The Michigan Wolverines, and the Notre Dame Fighting Touchdown Jesuses, are 0-2. There is sincere, genuine, unabashed happiness at this news, because it combines the best of both worlds: the defeat (however indirect) of our enemies, and our own success. Does it get any better? In all seriousness, though, this little batch of success might add up to something. I know, I know: I say this every year. I said it in 2005, when I covered IU, and when a trip to a bowl game meant an expenses-paid trip for me to, like, Detroit. In college, that sounded spectacular. But there is reason for optimism, because the Hoosiers aren’t barely squeaking by the teams they used to struggle with; they’re winning big and easy, the way decent D-1 teams should during the

In positive expectation there is thrill and success. In pessimism or awareness of what is not wanted, there is nothing. What you're wanting to do is redefine your relationship with the Stream. We do not ask you to look at something that is black and call it white. We do not ask you to see something that is not as you want it to be and pretend that it is. What we ask you to do is practice moving your gaze. Practice changing your perspective. Practice talking to different people. Practice going to new places. Practice sifting through the data for the things that feel like you want to feel and using those things to cause you to feel a familiar place. In other words, we want you to feel familiar in your joy. Familiar in your positive expectation, familiar in your knowing that all is well, because this Universe will knock itself o

Dennis Bergkamp’s testimonial was a fitting tribute to a true legend of the club, and he deserves every minute of respect and adoration that he gets, but it is a measure of the club that such consistent, quality, but lower-profile players as Lauren leave in the manner they do. Lauren has been the epitome of solid professionalism for some time at the club, and we can only hope that Hoyte and Eboue have learnt from him. His penalty against Sp*** is a particularly fond memory. But it’s more the way he has left that struck me this week. With only one or two dim-witted Bentley-swerving exceptions, departing players invariably hold the club, and in particular the manager, in the highest esteem – with the sort of mutual respect that makes you proud to be associated with the Arsenal. Yet, knowing the identity of this team thus far as inconsistent, could anyone be terribly surprised if the Wolves coughed up a couple of these toss up games?Philadelphia is obviously rebuilding with the departure of Allen Iverson. (When I say 'interesting', I may mean it in a relative sense.) Capitol Hill newspaper The Hill reported last week that Huckabee and Saltsman were dancing slowly around each other as the music softened and the lights dimmed (I'm paraphrasing).
