The more I learn on what is actually factual as opposed to the blatant opinions and distortions of information; the more I’m glad I got rid of cable TV. On the Internet, you know you can’t trust half or more of the information posted as being factual because so much is opinion based.

Their new iPhone is to be released later this week and a lot of buzz has built up around the global launch. Initial reviews of the phones, pricing plans and stock are all in and the outlook is most
It's been interesting getting the different opinions from the Grandmas involved in Hope's very open adoption. My mother was scared to death that Jill was going to come back for Hope (before and after parental rights were terminated). She was convinced that Jill was going to come in during the middle of the night and take Hope right from our home. I tried to tell her otherwise, but she had none of

Soccer stereotypes win through, as UEFA 2008 hits the semi-final stageAbout a week ago, I promised that we'd eventually cast an eye over the UEFA 2008 tournament taking place in Austria and Switzerland. True, soccer is not something we've covered (at all) in our year and three month existence to date, but outside of the Olympic Games, this is one of the big showpiece events of the year, and so we

This month I’m back to teaching all lower level classes, although during April and May I taught an advanced class. It was loads of fun, as my students were actually able to share their opinions with me (as opposed to the lower level classes, where conversation revolves around simple questions like “What did you do yesterday?”). I’m really going to miss my advanced class. Anyway, here are s
Hi, after so many days I thought of updating about a new popular survey site. The only thing is this site, Valued Opinions is not for international members. Only people from Australia, United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland are eligible to participate in these surveys. Also they are providing surveys to Indians, but the site which is related to India is not stable. Any way right now this site is c

I've often been asked the question on when I'll have a number two. Well, I have to tell you that I'm not fond of this question at all. Some people go to the extent of telling me it's necessary to have another child and the 'what ifs' if I don't another one. I find that they are crossing my boundaries, imposing their opinions on me. What works for them may not work for me at this moment and I do wish that they will keep their opinions to themselves. After all, I didn't ask them what they think about not having another addition. So why must they be so 'self-righteous' or think they are so clever just because they have more than one child.Anyways, it's better to be good with one child than to be a bad parent with both. I rather have a happy child and be a happy mom than to have two unhappy ch

I need some opinions. I'm considering purchasing a new ladder. I have been looking at the multi-position models. Which Paid Online Survey Companies Pay Cash For Opinions?By Adam Woodham There are quite a few paid online survey companies that pay cash for opinions. You will need to know which websites with surveys are the best and how to go about finding the top money makers, which I will show you.Just about all paid online survey companies will pay you for a quick five minute questionnaire, and they will pay you even more if you do one that takes a half hour to an hour. You will also be asked to join into focus groups, which pay pretty darn good cash for your opinion, and some will even send products to your house for you to try out. All of this is free of charge to you. If you ever do run into a paid online survey website that wants money from you to joij, simply walk away, because every single one

In keeping with the apolitical nature of this section of Asymmetric, I won't comment upon these songs too much except to explain that the first song Canto al Patriota by Orquesta Chepin, who once featured Ibrahim Ferrer of Buena Vista Social Club fame, calls Castro an "Aurora," meaning that they consider him a gift from above, like a star. It was written during the early days of the revolution and demonstrates the hope that many Cubans felt during those heady days. Later songs praise Castro, but I can only count these early ones as having an independent opinion as the later ones were state sponsored.
For more early Ibrahim Ferrer, click here.
The next song, En cuba no Falta Nada, calls him a maricon. Mariquita means feminine. Since my readers are uniformly intelligent, I don't feel

Why not review that new movie, restaurant, or product? Even better, why not get paid for doing so?
Services like Blogsvertise are taking the internet community by storm lately. The idea is simple and easy: monetize your blog by writing posts about certain products, websites, or services; get paid for providing word-of-mouth advertising. Don’t worry, your reviews & posts aren’t required to be sycophantic shilling, either. The Blogsvertise FAQ clearly states that you can write both positive and negative reviews about your assigned topic; no squashing your freedom of speech here.

Yes, but why? Well everyone is interested in other people’s opinion, whether this is politicians wanting to know which way you vote or businesses wondering whether you like product A or B. Even reading blogs shows an interest in opinions of others. But can you gain money from giving such an opinion? Well yes you can:-
YouGov is an independent research agency. Companies commission YouGov to survey people about all sorts of things so they can improve their knowledge of the market. By signing up to YouGov you could be selected to take part in one of these surveys. For each one you complete you earn money, not much, we’re talking 50p’s to a pound. So potential earnings are low but the surveys are quick and easy to complete (generally ticking boxes), and from the ones I’ve done they take between 5 and 10 minutes to complete. The downside is you may only be asked to do one survey a week or less, so earning opportunities are a little tight. Also you need to earn £50
Cheezy from VH1's "I Love New York 2" had some things to say about last night's episode, "Flowers From Fishburne", and how alot of editing was took place (as always). Hold up, wait a minute, let me put this pic-recap in it......That's what he said (Don't bother, Knock Out just wanted to get his air time before he got Knock'd Out!). I saw this title from Babes Love Baseball and the title fit so well that I’m going to use it – “Marge Schott Rolls Over in Her Grave”. Well, as noted yesterday, Dusty Baker got hired as manager for the Cincinnati Reds, taking over for interim manager Pete Mackanin was not retained, although he did have a winning record with the team in his time as its leader. This would have never happened a generation ago.It looks like Reds fans are not happy with the decision at all. If you take a look at some of the Reds forums, articles and blogs out there, fans are disgusted with the hire and some are willing to forego going to Reds’ games in the future.Based on Baker’s resume, Cincinnati could have had a far worse hire.Huh? Give this guy a chance to manage? I don’t want to scream out racism, but it would be sad if some close-minded people preferred someone who was white. If he helps you win, fans won’t care if he’s green. Then again, if he loses in Cincinnati, there will be far
A number of Arsenal players have been talking about a variety of topics as they prepare for international fixtures set to take place this week and next.
Captain William Gallas kicked things off by speaking about the groin injury he has sustained and how frustrated he has been with not playing. Gallas mentioned how much the injury was affecting his mood and actually issued an apology to the rest of his teammates at Arsenal for his inability to always put on a positive face.
“Trust me it’s hard to keep smiling. So I want to say sorry to all of the players, and also the staff at the training ground, because they could see I wasn’t always happy. It’s just that I really want to play.”
Most people who play football will understand how annoying it is to be out for a long period of time with injury and I’m sure it’s only worse when it comes to professional footballers. If you live and breathe football the way that guys like Gallas do it would be very h

While talking about a friend of mine who gets his whole knowledge about seo from me (and that isn’t so much is it?) we got to the topic about “.edu” links. If you ask me any link given to you for free is good but how much value does a link from Texas Culinary Academy have for my blog (if they were linking to me) even though it is a “.edu” link?
Links must be subject related since search engine algorithms are getting more and more complex and one day they will certainly be able to recognize links from different topics and probably assign less value to it so my lesson for today is: get links the smart way.
It isn’t hard to find an opinion in the media on what is happening in Iraq, but it is hard to find a description. Robert Dreyfuss takes on the mainstream media in Nieman’s Watchdog’s regular “Ask This” feature.
The conventional wisdom is that Iraqis can’t get their act together; that Iraqi politicians are hopeless squabbling, fratricidal hate-mongers; and that there’s really no use trying understand what passes for Iraqi politics. The narrative continues like this: that Iraq’s civil war is hundreds of years old, with Sunnis and Shia killing each other since the dawn of Islam;.that Iraq isn’t really even a country, since its borders were arbitrarily drawn up by a cigar-smoking Winston Churchill in the 1920s; and that there is no chance that Iraq will meet the 18 so-called “benchmarks” that were enacted by Congress earlier this year because it’s impossible that Iraqis will ever forge a consensus that can hold their country together.

(That’s a paraphrased quote from hammock talk Friday night.) Jameka, I admire her faith, but is BB really the place for that kind of conviction? And where is your conviction now, when last week God told you to win and use the POV to save Jen, and you just told Amber that if you play and win POV this week, you won’t use it? Um… yeah.
And Amber - seriously. Quit crying, or go home. One plus, however, is that she&rsqu
Aw come on - you KNOW you want to know how things have changed in what passes for my mind this week! With everything going on since Thursday - it’s been an ever-changing combination of love/hate - and it seems ever more obvious that smaller alliances have formed within the larger factions in ever-changing dynamics.
So - in no particular order:

Poor Carol!
The plight of the first evictee, you never get to know them as well as you do the other houseguests. As Carol’s time was before I got the live feeds, I relied on Shotime Too’s coverage of the feeds for Big Brother After Dark to get what little opinion I had about her. After being nominated, she had problems with the cameras, and not wanting to be there. I think that, more then anything else, got her sent home instead of Amber. A senator’s daughter - she was kind of an airhead, and lacked some serious common sense about some things. She seemed sweet enough, for a cheerleader.
And the scuffle between Carol and Jessica? Total BS and hype. Five dollars? Are you kidding me? Carol couldn’t even remember what it was about, and I think the bottom line was that they simply went two different directions and never came back together. Nothing big or life changing at all.

I mentioned below that I might get into this here, and so I will dedicate a whole entry to Dick, Dani and Nick - and another one in a bit to catch the rest (and shorter!) opinions of the other houseguests.
This morning, all the internets are buzzing about the talk Dick and Daniele had last night. It was long, and heart-wrenching to watch - and many of us watching were sitting there alternately saying that CBS shouldn’t be exploiting this, while knowing they are because people like us were sitting there watching it. It was impossibly hard to look away - so I didn’t. I just grabbed the tissues and watched the two of them cry and try to find some common ground. It was rough going - but by the end, Dick and Daniele shared their first hug in over two years.

Mitt Romney has recently changed his mind on several key issues that are important to the conservative right. Other conservative candidates have changed their minds or tried to appear “more conservative”. Did these candidates really reconsider the issues and change their positions they have held for years? Or are these new opinions of convenience. Mitt Romney had been a strong pro-choice advocate and Governor in Massachusetts until 2007. In Time Magazine on May 21, 2007, Mitt Romney said he changed his mind on abortion after meeting with a Harvard doctor on November 9, 2004. Mitt Romney gave a speech in May of 2005, which has been shown on YouTube over 10,000 times, that has him defending his pro-choice position. Did Romney really change his mind or did he change it so he could run for president in the Republican Party? His story about changing his mind in 2004 makes it less believable when 6 months later he is recorded saying he defends the pro-choice position.
Just wanted to get some people’s opinions on a business card design I’m currently working on, to promote the uvmeassociate.com domain. This mockup has only had about fifteen minutes put into it.
Colourwise I aimed to represent the vibrance of online gaming, with a strong blue gradient to match the orange of the uVme logo. I added faint currency symbols in the background, and a quick ‘n easy blurb to pique interest.
What do you like and dislike? What would you change or do differently, and why?
It is always interesting to talk with Dutchies about my country. The opinions vary so much and it fascinates me to hear them. A co-worker of Dutchies that is gay and has an American man and just as Dutchie has me, they live here in Holland, however, the difference between us is that her Dutch co-worker would actually like to live in America where Dutchie does not. Why would he want to live in a country that doesn’t accept who he is, why accept that when where you live right now accepts you and allows you everything you want? Dutchie and I do not understand it.
Today I was doing a run with a couple of co-workers in this small town Baarn. It was miserable and frustrating but the people were friendly and when we were done we met up and chatted while waiting for a few more workers to meet us. We got into America and how she thought it was interesting the news that is broadcasted there and how it is here. I have noticed the difference in the news and how they portray a story and it is
Talk radio is about the exchange of ideas. Modern liberals (reactionaries) don't have any ideas. They just hate George W Bush. Hating Bush is not entertaining nor is it intellectually stimulating to most people. Talk radio was built around taking a position and defending it as well as questioning the positions of others. Most conservative and libertarian talk show hosts put liberal callers to the head of the call queue when possible. All one needs to do is the listen to the Michael Medved, Hugh Hewitt and yes Rush Limbaugh to see that this is the case. Expanding their shows scope of opinions also enhances their own ratings (for you liberals this is how markets work). Even conservatives don't want to be listening in an echo chamber all day. Most of these callers are treated fairly by conservative and libertarian hosts (Michael Savage excluded). Dr. Laura doesn't just take calls from like-minded social conservatives and neither does Neal Boortz (who by the way would disagree with Dr. L
Well, I watched a little of the Orioles’ press conference streaming on WBAL, and basically I learned absolutely nothing that I didn’t know already nor could find from various media outlets. Not much info was said, besides the obvious – Sam Perlozzo is gone and Dave Trombley is the interim managerFurthermore, nothing was said about Andy MacPhail being hired, or the process of finding a new manager. However, anyone with an internet connection or a radio knows that the Orioles have hired MacPhail and want Joe Girardi as manager, just that they have not made it public yet.Blah, blah, blah. It sounded like a White House conference, in that you could not find out any real info.Roch Kubatko, Matt Palmer and the scribes are working hard to let us know what is going on, however, it sounds like it is going to be a hard job. When the scribes are left out of the ballpark, you have to figure there is a lot more that’s going on than meets the eye.Working in corporate America, a lack of informa
Missing Child Maddie: I have tried to help find Maddie by carrying her story in my blog. Why did I feel sorry? Everyone has a point of connection, and the fact that she shares her birthday with my son, just struck a chord.
Summer Holidays for Miti: Yes we are busy. Now that my son is at home, I have become more relaxed, laid back. We try to do things together. I have now discovered a new passion for dancing in Miti. Both of us like techno and house. So its digging in the sand, biking, at the pool, cartoons. Its pretty idyllic at the moment. But like my son says.. We have 70 days more to go through..;) Yes he is counting.. I am not..
Immigration Bill: The day the proposal was announced, the first thought was why are we even trying to do everything legally? We should have just come on a holiday, and stayed behind.. The illegals have it better. [That I guess was natural envy that another demographic is going to benefit faster.] A few days later I was chuckling. I

What’s the story behind the name of your blog?
Well I was the first one to join the world of blogging with Mama Kelly’s Musings (now defunct), when I pulled Lady Rose in she created Purple Moon Garden. Eventually we merged our blogs keeping Lady Rose’s title but with the subtitle of “a blog of two witches” (a play on A Tale of Two Cities).
More recently we decided, after Wordpress ate our blog for a period of 24 hours or so, to rebirth our blog again as 2 Witches Blog, which you can read as 2 Witches Blog (verb) or as 2 Witches’ Blog (noun).
Fantasy Election :: Which cartoon character do you think would make the best president (prime minister, whatever)?
Hmmmm.
Old school - Well he’s not a cartoon (he’s a muppet) but I would vote for Kermit. He’s deep and thoughful and would do wonders for cross-cultural relations.
New school - Shrek. He’s tough and strong, and not afr

That was me a whole lot of years ago. I posted this photo because of the Fraulein commented on plastic crib bumpers which made me remember that I, er, had one of those.
As you can also see from the picture, I’m already standing yet the handy-dandy Raggedy Ann & Andy mobile has not been taken down. I’m also in arm’s reach of wodden wall art which I could have taken off the wall and beat myself about the head and neck with. I could have then taken the nail from the wall from which the art had been hanging and pierced myself. Then I could have grabbed that air freshener and eaten it. Then, if I was feeling quite spry, I could have grabbed that curtain and used it to either rappel down the side of the crib or else strangle myself.
And because I’m typing this from my Durham, NC home and not from Heaven, Sto-vo-kor, or some other place, I am obviously still alive.
By contemporary standards of baby safety, I should hav
