The Kuma confused AMD has now proudly announced that it has become the first graphics technology provider to obtain OpenGL ES 2.0 conformance certification. OpenGL ES 2.0 is the latest version of Khronos Group’s royalty-free, cross-platform API aimed for embedded systems, including consoles, phones, appliances and vehicles.
“We are pleased to be the first technology provider [...]

The latest SDK beta (build 9M2165) has just been released, which is good news for game developers, as it now includes full iPhone Simulator support for OpenGL-ES. Until now, developers had to test their 3D code on the iPhone itself, which could understandably be a bit of a pain and added an extra time [...]
Time for a new fresh beta built of the official Apple iPhone SDK firmware, and apparently this time round the 2.0 firmware appears to gain support for OpenGL ES in the SDK’s emulator.
This should enable easy access to the iPhone’s 3D acceleration so those fascinating and captivating games we all plan on playing for hours [...]
The latest iPhone SDK is now available, and unlike last time, it actually comes with an awesome new feature: OpenGL ES support! Now the iPhone simulator can render OpenGL ES that "mirror behavior on the iPhone and iPod Touch." The ES in OpenGL ES stands for embedded systems, and is the official graphics API in both Symbian and Android as well. As a side note, Open GL ES 2.0 is also supported by the PS3 as "an official graphics API" according to Wikipedia, in case you're playing the world's nerdiest game of Trivial Pursuit. [iPhone]
A new version of the iPhone SDK beta, version 4, was released earlier today. New features in the update include OpenGL ES support and the enforcement of a new code signing policy:
OpenGL ES support: The iPhone emulator will now be able to render OpenGL ES in applications, matching the capabilities of the iPhone 2.0 software.
Code signing enforced: iPhone applications will now need to contain a valid certificate (obtained from the restricted, $99, iPhone Developer program) in order to be loaded on actual devices. If a developer does not have a certificate, apps will still run in the simulator but not physical devices.

Advanced Graphics Programming Using OpenGL - McReynoldsToday truly useful and interactive graphics are available on affordable computers. While hardware progress has been impressive, widespread gains in software expertise have come more slowly. Information about advanced techniquesbeyond those learned in introductory computer graphics textsis not as easy to come by as inexpensive hardware. This book brings the graphics programmer beyond the basics and introduces them to advanced knowledge that is hard to obtain outside of an intensive CG work environment. The book is about graphics techniquesthose that dont require esoteric hardware or custom graphics librariesthat are written in a comprehensive style and do useful things. It covers graphics that are not covered well in your old graphics te
PowerPoint's push-down transition has done its 15 years of service, and it's time for something new. Do the sleepy faces in your meetings agree? OpenOffice.org Impress 2.4 upstages PowerPoint with ten 3D transitions rendered in OpenGL.
I’ve been working a bit lately with the Glut OpenGL library. It’s pretty simple to get started with but there were a few complicated bits that had me stumped. In my search for online resources, I came across Bill Jacobs’ very good step-by-step set of video tutorials with lots of accompanying sample code.

OpenGL Extensions Viewer... Many OpenGL extensions, as well as extensions to related APIs like GLU, GLX, and WGL, have been defined by vendors and groups of vendors. The extension registry is maintained by SGI and contains specifications for all known extensions, written as modifications to the appropriate specification documents. The registry also defines naming conventions, guidelines for creating new extensions and writing suitable extension specifications, and other related documentation. This program displays the vendor name, the version implemented, the renderer name and the extensions of the current OpenGL 3D accelerator. If you have an Internet connection, you can retrieve from SGI the extensions specifications that explain the available extensions.Version 2.32: New installer for x64 version. Fixed some compatibilities with ATI video cards. New software update window. New error log window after rendering tests.OpenGL Extensions Viewer 2.32
Welcome to another blog entry where you can read about HAM radio related software running under Linux. Today, I would like to write short article about Antennavis.
So what is Antennavis? As the title suggest, it is OpenGL antenna visualisation interface for nec2. Every ham heard about antenna modeling and visualisation. This kind of software is extremly usefull for everybody, who wants to build their own antenna. Antennavis comes into the place then. This software allows user to fly arround and view the antenna system and their patterns from any angle in 3D. I have already used couple of simillar software under windows, but none of them allowed me to see it in 3D.

OpenGL and Linux users you should avoid the chip xpress200 and xpress1100. I have a xpress1100 on my laptop, and I had disappointment to note that this chip does not manage or very little the OpenGL, the consequences?Under Windows the games or the applications that are using OpenGL's 3D functions are performing very badly or not at all, and under Linux you do not have the 3D desktop nor the majority of the 3D applications. This problem with the xpress200 was to be fixed by the xpress1100 but these two chips use the graphics processor unit X300se which is a X300 cut down by ATI(half pipe and bandwidth, very reduced memory) which on paper is ½ to 1/3 slower than the X300 of origin another problem is that X300 in fact is already not an excellent graphics processor unit, finally the true is that the problem really does not come from the graphics processor unit, the fact is that ATI officially does not support the opengl function of this chip. These chips at low prices equip each days
Although Windows XP does not have built-in support OpenGL, you can add support by way of your video card drivers. Below are the links for the NVidia and ATI drivers, which also add OpenGL support.NVidia Drivers PageATI Drivers PageIf you use an off-brand video card, check with the manufacturer's site.
