All you have to do is
Want to improve your Internet connection right now? Simple. Just head over to OpenDNS and follow the directions to setup your computer or router to point to OpenDNS. If you're not sure what a DNS is or why you should care, seriously, take 5 minutes to head over to the site and read their excellent materials. Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention the service is FREE! Is it really faster? In my case, yes. I have a rule about performance increases. If I can't see it, feel it or otherwise sense it through casual use, then I don't think it's an improvement worth having. I figure most people like myself don't notice performance increases of 10% or less. Well, I do notice the difference when using OpenDNS. Probably has something to do with the Comcast DNS (my ISP) which has had news worthy outages in the past. YMMV. Still, even without the performance benefits there are good reasons to use OpenDNS. If your a parent (as I am) then you'll appreciate the filtering. You can block content rig
aqua bear cd mem I posted a few forum posts about my recent downtime that actually only occurs for me! One of the suggestions was to change to OpenDNS. I’ve looked at it before but my internet at home is quite reliable, unlike my one in Canterbury! *cough*freedom2surf*cough* so I swapped, and as you can see - it worked because I can access my site for the first time in weeks! Its still quite slow though which is irritating but thats something to work on when I have the time!
This week is going to be another busy one I can tell! I’m out every night until Sunday! Annoyingly I can’t drink!
Why can’t I drink? I had a cold the last few weeks which then developed into a cough that I’d had for about a week, the wednesday before last I was getting sharp pains in my chest every time I breathed. I went to the doctors on Friday who said if it got worse go to a&e - and boy did it get worse. I spoke to my parents and my dad was like you have the same symptoms as me
Modifichiamo i record NS
Per prima cosa, dobbiamo accedere al pannello di controllo del nostro hosting, e modificare i recor
When I was looking for anti-phishing filtering software, my friend advise me to try OpenDNS.To my suprise, after I've used OpenDNS, web pages seem to load faster. Even though I haven't personally faced phishing website, OpenDNS claims they will be blocked. Here is the snapshot example from Wiki.If you want to give it a try, simply change your DNS setting to * 208.67.222.222 (Resolver1.OpenDNS.com)* 208.67.220.220 (Resolver2.OpenDNS.com)If you are not a technical person and still have no idea how to change it, OpenDNS have got detailed instructions here.
Using OpenDNS is an easy way to improve several aspects of your Internet connection. OpenDNS is a free DNS service which incorporates several helpful features transparently. OpenDNS can make your Internet connection safer, faster, smarter and more reliable.
OpenDNS incorporates an anti phishing database into its services to protect you from phishing websites. If ever you come across a phishing website, OpenDNS will identify it before the page loads and display a warning message. The anti phishing feature is turned on automatically with OpenDNS service. OpenDNS also optionally allows you to block adult websites by type, as well as block any domain you specify. OpenDNS also removes DNS resolving from your ISP’s servers which makes it harder for your ISP to track which websites you visit. Keep in mind, though, this is not an anonymizer serivce.
Since OpenDNS has lots and lots of users, they are able to cache large amounts of DNS data in their servers. Typically, there are many more
What Is DNS?
Imagine what happens when you enter an address in the address bar your browser of choice. Well, something happens, but what? The “internet” is really just a lot of networked computers that talk to each other. When you enter “TechyStuff.Info” in your address bar, you computer has to look on a DNS server to figure out where to find “TechyStuff.Info“. Look at it like this, you want to call John Doe, but don’t know his phone number, so you look in the phone book for his number. That is exactly what happens when you enter something in the address bar, your computer looks on your DNS server for the IP address. DNS servers take the domain name and turn that into an IP address, and then your computer starts talking to the server on that IP address.
What Is OpenDNS?
OpenDNS is a service that allows you to use their DNS servers instead of your default ones. I changed to their servers, and I instantly noticed that pages load faster. On avera
If you haven’t heard of OpenDNS by now, I’ll fill you in. OpenDNS is a free service that will help speed up your connection by decreasing DNS resolve times. How does it do this? OpenDNS keeps a large cache of resolved domain names to IP addresses, when you type in a website address into your browser your ISP must convert the domain name to an IP address to find the server, OpenDNS keeps a bunch of these precached for quicker resolution. The service does not however speed up your bandwidth, a lot of people read the page and start to think that OpenDNS will increase download speeds, this is not true. Another benefit is a free phishing service as OpenDNS is connected to brother site Phishtank.com as well as free adult-content block. A feature I’ve come to love is domain name correction, if you accidentally leave off the c in .com (ie. google.om) OpenDNS automatically corrects it to take you to the correct page.
The service is very easy to setup and the OpenDNS
DNS - Domain Name Server/Service, is a service that translates domain names into IP addresses. Because domain names are alphabetic, they’re easier to remember. The Internet however, is really based on IP addresses. Every time you use a domain name, therefore, a DNS service must translate the name into the corresponding IP address. The DNS [...]
