When the call went out to remix Feist's work, her respected contemporaries were quick to come on board. Such is the basis of Open Season, a collection of remixes and rarities from Feist's heavily-acclaimed 2004 release Let It Die. Curiously, more than a third of this music comes from remixes of just two songs from that disc, specifically four different versions of "Mushaboom" and two takes of "Gatekeeper." Some of the re-workings arguably exceed the original cuts, most notably The Postal Service who turns "Mushaboom" into a synth-driven track with Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) offering joyful harmonies throughout. On Thursday, WKRG News (Mobile, Ala.) reported an attack on a Murphy High School teacher. A student filmed that attack with his cell phone. In early May, CNN featured the video report (linked above) disclosing various teacher attacks.
The losers, other than the teachers, are the students who want to do their jobs and get an education.

If Ken Griffey Jr. is ready to play on opening day, he will be in right field. Cincinnati Reds manager Jerry Narron said Monday he expects to start Ryan Freel in center because Griffey is still working his way back from a broken left hand. The longtime center fielder was injured in the offseason while wrestling with his kids. "Right now, that's what our plan is. We would have loved for him to be available opening day to play center field - it just didn't work out," Narron said. Griffey, a 10-time Gold Glove winner in center, has taken fly balls and made throws from right field in practice. Narron said he was very cautious about deciding to move the 37-year-old slugger from his customary spot. "We had to make a decision. This late in the spring we need to get our club out on the field," he said.Griffey's agent, Brian Goldberg, said his client had known the Reds' plans.
