Google concerned about Verizon's open access
It asks FCC to step in to ensure complianceWASHINGTON -- Google Inc. has asked the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to obtain a pledge from Verizon Wireless that it will honor the open-access conditions on a band of 700-MHz spectrum before selling the spectrum to the carrier.Google, in a filing with the FCC on Friday, raised concerns that Verizon Wireless wasn't committed to the open-access rules the FCC put on the nationwide C block of the 700-MHz spectrum the agency sold in an auction that ended in mid-March. The FCC's open-access rules require the winner of the C block to allow customers to connect wireless devices of their choosing and run any applications on the network using the C block.Google's filing doesn't explicitly spell out what the company wants the FCC to do if Verizon

Open Access Won't Be What You Think It Is
Want faster Internet? Want cheaper Internet? Want both cheaper and faster Internet - the kind people in Europe or Asia currently enjoy? Don't hold your breath. The same two telecommunications companies that control vast swaths of America's wires have just won another auction, this time for the much-hyped "700 band" wireless spectrum: When Congress authorized this auction, their stated intention was to pry open our cell phone and broadband markets to consumer choice and new competition. But having Verizon and AT&T control the most significant chunks of the spectrum — including the so-called national C Block — means more of the same for Internet users. … Verizon and AT&T are already among the most dominant providers of "wired" broadband access in the U.S. Their vict

The ASPNET worker process doesn't have the correct permissions to connect to or write to the Access database. Either enable impersonation for users or configure the ASP.NET worker process to run under the SYSTEM account. You can also grant read and write permissions for the "Everyone" group on the database and the database folder.

CTIA Replaces Verizon in Open Access Suit Against the FCC
Verizon Wireless has withdrawn its appeal of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) 700 MHz open-access rule.  Verizon Wireless isn't happy with the FCC 700 MHz recent open-access rules and had filed a lawsuit which created uncertainty with the upcoming auction of the more than a thousand wireless airwaves licenses.  However, CTIA (The International Association for the Wireless Telecommunications Industry) has immediately entered to challenge the same regulation in a law suit filed at the U.S. District Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.“In challenging the 700 MHz order, petitioner does not seek to delay or overturn the results of any auction,” CTIA told the court. “Petitioner does, however, seek to overturn certain aspects of the order that are at odds with prior commission rulings and with the realities of the competitive marketplace for wireless services.”

Google vs. Verizon: The ‘open access’ saga continues
First with Net neutrality and now with so-called “open access” rules for forthcoming wireless networks, there seems to be no end to the discord between Google and Verizon. Open Access to JMMT Online!
Forwarding this email I received from the editor of JMMT. There is a lot of great content available on their site, so go check it out. It is great that they are opening their information to the entire physical therapy community. I truly appreciate their efforts to share knowledge. Thanks!Just wanted to let you and the readers of your excellent blog know that we have a new issue available online of JMMT at http://jmmtonline.com/current/. This issue again has some open access content including a rather lengthy (for which my apologies) editorial I wrote discussing chiropractic challenges to the PT scope of practice (http://jmmtonline.com/documents/v15n2/EditorialV15N2.pdf). FYI, I am open to receiving and perhaps publishing letters to the editor on this topic.Open access content also includes an historical review paper by Dr. Thomas Terlouw on the early history of physical therapy in Europe and specifically in the Netherlands(http://jmmtonline.com/documents/v15n2/TerlouwV15N2E.pdf). The Astrobiology Primer: An Outline of General Knowledge (Open Access/Free)
From Astrobiology.com October 2006, Vol. 6, No. 5 : 735 -813:The Astrobiology Primer (Version 1) has been created as a reference tool for those who are interested in the interdisciplinary field of astrobiology. The field incorporates many diverse research endeavors, but it is our hope that this slim volume will present the reader with all he or she needs to know to become involved and to understand, at least at a fundamental level, the state of the art. Each section includes a brief overview of a topic and a short list of readable and important literature for those interested in deeper knowledge. Because of the great diversity of material, each section was written by a different author with a different expertise. Contributors, authors, and editors are listed at the beginning, along with a list of those chapters and sections for which they were responsible. We are deeply indebted to the NASA Astrobiology Institute (NAI), in particular to Estelle Dodson, David Morrison, Ed Goolish, Krisst
