Mandatory speed limiters in trucks in Ontario . . .
Legislation was tabled Wednesday at Queens Park, to make speed limiters mandatory for all Transport Trucks traveling through Ontario. Trucks would be limited to 105 Kph or about 65 Mph as an absolute maximum speed. What most people won't immediately realize is that this is going to limit the speed of all traffic and cause enormous bottlenecks on long stretches of two lane highways like 401

Belize Trip Review - Ontario, Canada - Barbara Clumpus - March 2008
My second visit to the Jungle Dome, this time with my daughter Jodi and grandson Alex. How wonderful to relive an incredible adventure through my grandson’s 10 year old eyes! Once again the staff treated us like extended family ~ hospitality superb and the meals wonderful. Luis was a fabulous guide, always up for something different on our adventures together ~ and as a result we found the ‘real’ crystal cave on the river tubing trip! A 45 minute trip ended up taking 3 hours! Very awe-inspiring and great fun! Thanks so much Karen, Andy, David and all staff. We enjoyed our family holiday immensely. “Grammie” Barb Clumps, Jodi & Alex - March 2008 Ontario, Canada

Family Day: Ontario's New Stat Holiday
Today is Ontario’s first statutory holiday which celebrates the family. Our Premier Dalton McGuinty officially introduced this holiday after some 20 years of anticipating another day off. In our society work consumes a large majority of our time and energy. In a time of constant change and the advent of newer technology which supposedly makes our lives easier, one would think that there would be much more time for family, however this is not the case at all. There is a huge pressure on workers to climb the corporate ladder and earn more money not only to survive but to make sure our family survives well. In 2005, Statistics Canada found that 40% of stressed out men and women attributed their strain to work pressures and the next 10% attributed their source of stress to money struggl

Barrie Zwicker on TV Ontario - 02/13/08
Thanks 911blogger and Reprehensor for this! On Wednesday, February 13th, Barrie Zwicker was invited to be a guest on the publicly funded TV Ontario television program, "The Agenda with Steve Paikin". The episode was originally billed as "Paranoid Political Imagination - Understanding conspiracy theories: Why do some people see things that most don't", this was on Monday the 11th. The "agenda" seems to have been to have Zwicker on the show, showcase him as a paranoid "Conspiracy Theorist" and then have a panel follow up and explain why he was a paranoiac. However, Zwicker was so damn good in the opening segment with Paikin, that the episode was re-named, "Barrie Zwicker - Conspiracy Anyone?", and split into two distinct segments, the first with Zwicker, called "The Interview - Fact or ficti

Organic Beef Farming Takes Hold in Ontario Due to its Benefits
By: Thomas Ahrens Organic farming is not new to Ontario. To a limited degree, it has been practiced for a number of years on small private farms that catered to the needs of a very select group of consumers, who it seems, knew something that the majority did not. Today, people are clearly apprehensive about the quality and the safety of the food they buy, and consumers have the right to be concerned. Every week there is a new report that focuses on some problem in the food industry. Stories of genetically altered food, e-coli outbreaks, and the use of growth hormones have caused many Canadians to re-evaluate the food that they feed their families. In addition, recent media attention focusing on the health of our environment gives consumers another reason to consider purchasing eco-friendly organic food products. Canadians that are worried about their family's health, and the health of the planet, are turning to organically produced food products such as organic beef. Certified Ontario

Ontario urged to review Cdn$30,000 claims deductible, verbal thresholds for auto injury
Ontario’s superintendent of financial services should review the use of the verbal threshold for establishing serious and permanent injury and/or the use of a Cdn$30,000 deductible to discourage plaintiffs from pursuing smaller auto negligence claims, according to the summary of findings in the Civil Justice Reform Project. The author of the Civil Justice Reform report, former associate Chief Justice of Ontario Coulter Osborne, released his findings in November 2007. Smaller auto negligence claims represent 21% of the province’s Superior Court of Justice claims, Osborne noted. In his report, Osborne noted Ontario’s Bill 198 amendments to the Insurance Act in 1996, as well as its associated regulations, are intended to minimize smaller auto negligence claims. How to Ensure a Memorable Winter Holiday in Ontario's Resort Region
By: Craig Esson When they take their Ontario winter time resort holiday, vacationers expect to experience crisp clear days in a landscape draped in a fluffy white blanket of fresh fallen snow. They want to be able to skate or fish on glass smooth frozen lakes and they want to ski or snowmobile on an adequate base of snow. Over the last few years, Ontario resort owners have found that they can no longer count on the abundant snowfalls of the past that attracted a steady stream of vacationers and guaranteed resorts a long and profitable winter season. The current trend in Ontario's weather of milder winter time temperatures and reduced snowfall could prove disastrous for Ontario's resort industry. However, by following the guidelines stated below, you will be well on your way to creating a memorable winter getaway in Ontario's resort region regardless of what the weather brings. If you are insistent upon having a winter getaway filled with outdoor activities that require a great deal o
