Like many Pixar shorts, this film is completely free of dialogue, instead using music (played by the characters) and pantomime to tell the story.Andrew Jimenez and Mark Andrews shows us what Pixar can do with four minutes and the simplest of story lines. This short is fun because it's funny and imaginative. With one coin to make a wish at the piazza fountain, One Man Band tells the humorously captivating tale of a peasant girl who encounters two competing street performers who'd prefer the coin find its way into their tip jars. As the two one-man bands' rivalry crescendos, the two overly eager musicians vie to win the little girl's attention. You can buy Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 1.
A few nights ago I was watching PBS again (no surprise by now I expect) and I caught another interesting concert event: James Taylor: One Man Band. The show was songs taken from the CD/DVD set of the same name that was released just last year. Now, I’m not a huge James [...]
And so it has been said that he who controls the beat shall be simply adequate on the mic… I guess history has shown us that producers who end up on the mic are either ehhhh or they’re just pretty good. Here’s where I start getting hate mail: there isn’t one producer alive who is on the top of most people’s lists when they start rattling off their favorite emcees, although Eminem and Nas both are to be reckoned with behind the beats, not to mention folks like Black Milk, Q-Tip, and the ubiquitous Kanyeezee. I never heard someone say that Timbaland had this ill ass punch-line on “Lobster & Scrimp.” I also never heard anyone say that Quik, Pete Rock, Hi Tek or even the great Dr. Dre are incredibly dope emcees, despite the fact that there aren’t very many producers out there who can compare to their high levels of work. Some of them have ghost-writers and some of them can spit some hard bars. But the argument continues: should producers spit? Or should they do like Cube o

Swizz Beatz - One Man Band [Explict/Retail]I'm not going to try and pretend like I know what I'm talking about, so here goes. I know Swizz Beatz has been in this buisness for some time now producing songs for big names and such. He is now releasing his first solo studio album with the success of "It's Me Snitches(Bi**es)" it seemed like the right time. I've listened to most of the album and I have to say he may not be the best rapper but the production that goes into the songs make up for it. The one that that stands out for me is the collaboration with Chris Martin on "Part Of The Plan". Deff a nice album to check out, and don't forget to BUY YOUR COPY AUGUST 21ST!!1. Product Man2. There is something about the early history of the blues that really speaks to me. After first discovering blues through artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton and Led Zeppelin (and others like the White Stripes) I’ve been interested in the early days; the music that influenced these artists. Backtracking my way through the blues it wasn’t long before I was consumed by artists like Son House, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Blind Willie McTell, Leadbelly, Willie Dixon, Charlie Patton, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Robert Jr. Lockwood and of course Robert Johnson (plus many others).
There is just something so raw and powerful about these artists that I immediate identify with and respect. Although I also love electric blues and blues rock, but I will always have a very deep respect for each and every one of these early artists because with just a guitar and their voice, they changed music forever.
There have been lots of blues players over the years always adding their own p
Boy do I love Pixar Studios. I'm huge fan of their work and I promise I'll do my best to present you some of their shorties, starting with this one, named One Man Band. Great combination of excellent animation, music, story and cute characters. I just couldn't wait to post it. So people... Have fun :)
