Ole Miss Loses QB Recruit To Baseball
The Mississippi Rebels have lost one of their top incoming freshmen. Quarterback signee Chris Wilkes has decided to pursue a career in professional baseball rather than play college football and has signed with the San Diego Padres. The unexpected departure leaves the Rebels’ depth chart extremely thin at the quarterback position. Ole Miss opens [...]

Ole Miss Fans Litter Field After Controversial Call: High Heels; Low Standards
Late in their contest with Alabama on Saturday one official ruled that Ole Miss receiver, Shay Hodge, secured a catch on the 4-yard line with 7 seconds left in a 27-24 game. Following a delay while officials mulled over the call -- eventually deciding the receiver stepped out of bounds prior to the catch -- the play was overturned and thus ended the Rebels' chances for victory. It was at that point when angry fans started throwing objects onto the field in disgust over the controversial ruling.Among the items thrown on the field were liquor bottles and a complete set of red high heel shoes, the Associated Press reported. After the game, Alabama coach Nick Saban called the Ole Miss fans classless. Classless why? 'Cause some people were throwing some stuff? Well, okay...maybe. But someone was at a college football game wearing a pair of red high heels! That, my friend, is pure class! In a whore-ish way, but still...Related:UM football: Ole Miss might submit video to SEC [The Clarion-Led

Baseball Vols fall to Ole Miss
Tennessee’s lone senior Craig Cobb got the call for Thursday’s game against the Ole Miss Rebels but his night was short lived. Cobb gave up 5 runs and was pulled with one out in the first inning. The Vols were in a hole they never could climb out of. Lance McClain came on and did a nice job keeping the Rebels in check. He pitched the final 7.2 innings for Tennessee and held Ole Miss to a single run. The only offense the Vols could muster was a 3-run home run by Tony Delmonico in the 6th. Tennessee loaded the bases in the 7th but was unable to score and Ole Miss held on for a 6-3 victory. Next up will be a rematch with Vanderbilt tonight at 7:30 in an elimination game. Ever heard of Houndstooth Condominiums? I’ll give you a hint. They are within walking distance of Bryant-Denny stadium, close enough to “spit on Fulmer”. I don’t know if the ads are all still up but um, well I’m really not sure what to say. Elsewhere there is lots of news ab

Anheuser-Busch Donates $300,000 to Ole Miss to Combat Campus Alcohol Abuse
In somewhat of a "man bites dog" kind of a story, Anheuser-Busch has made a $300,000 donation to the University of Mississippi to fight alcohol abuse on the school's Oxford, Miss., campus.A-B is going to help fund a social norming research study started three years ago by the Ole Miss Center for Health Promotion. The project involves research and education designed to dispel myths among college students that most of their fellow students drink heavily. The program's goal is to give students accurate information and help them make responsible decisions about consuming alcohol. Some at Ole Miss are against accepting A-B's donation and argue that the social norming solution does not work as well as mandatory freshman alcohol awareness programs and strict enforcement of laws regarding underage drinking. The fact of the matter is that the anti-alcohol crowd is showing its true colors in this case by calling on the University of Mississippi to reject the donation. A-B's willingness to ste

      Ole Miss… well, you know
I seriously hope we don’t have to keep writing this headline.  I guess it raises the question: do we suck again? Hopefully the answer to this is “no,” although it’s hard to say at this point, the numbers do point out that the squad is under .500 in the SEC.  Perhaps we should switch to a “crappy” conference like the Big 12 or Conference USA, because we seem to be able to beat teams from that conference. Of course, there is another explanation: Chris Lofton is just that awesome.  The first game in a couple years for the Vols without Lofton was a loss.  Of course, the team can make up for it by beating down Kentucky for the next game. If Chris doesn’t come back, well, we can probably chalk up another loss on the ‘ole board. Come back Chris… PLEEEEEASE
