Anton does not kill at random or without purpose. Anton sees himself as a hand of fate. Anton Chigurh is an emotionless, compassionless killing machine and is now one of the most iconic villains of all time. He carries a silenced assault shotgun and a cattlegun aka a captive bolt pistol, which fires a cylinder from a hose which is connected to a tank of compressed air. In this scene Anton uses the

I mean, you get a lot of cool stuff like a Secret Service code name, your own plane, tons of free dinners, and the right to pretty much be a jerk during every campaign season. No Country for Old Men is a 2007 crime thriller film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, starring Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem. Adapted from the Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name,[1][2] No Country for Old Men tells the story of a "drug deal gone bad" and the ensuing cat-and-mouse drama, as three men crisscross each other's paths in the desert landscape of 1980 West Texas. The film examines the themes of fate and circumstance the Coens have previously explored in Blood Simple and Fargo. No Country for Old Men has been highly praised by critics. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times called it "as good a film as the Coen brothers…have ever made." A Guardian journalist said the film proved "that the Coens' technical abilities, and their feel for a landscape-ba

No Country for Old Men is the movie you should be seeing instead of wasting your time and money on another boring (Vantage Point), predictable (Vantage Point!) and cliche (VANTAGE POINT!) action movie.Don't worry, because I actually liked this movie I won't be spoiling it at all for anyone who hasn't seen it. I will say this though: This movie really took me by surprise. I was often caught of guard by what happened and sometimes by what didn't happen. Jesse saw this with some friends of his and they complained that the pacing was too slow. I disagree. I felt like the slower pace added to the tension. The movie had some downright creepy scenes where, strange as it sounds, almost nothing happened.Don't go see No Country if you're looking for a big, happy Hollywood ending where everything get

The Coen brothers make their finest thriller since Fargo with a restrained adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel. Not that there aren't moments of intense violence, but No Country for Old Men is their quietest, most existential film yet. In this modern-day Western, Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) is a Vietnam vet who could use a break. One morning while hunting antelope, he spies several trucks surrounded by dead bodies (both human and canine). In examining the site, he finds a case filled with $2 million. Moss takes it with him, tells his wife (Kelly Macdonald) he's going away for awhile, and hits the road until he can determine his next move. On the way from El Paso to Mexico, he discovers he's being followed by ex-special ops agent Chigurh (an eerily calm Javier Bardem). Chigurh's weapon of

Los cuatro premios para los actores quedaron en manos de extranjeros: en la liza por Mejor Actor el británico Daniel Day-Lewis ganó el segundo Oscar de su carrera por su papel de obsesivo buscador de
There were no big surprises at the 80th Academy Awards, although some minor shockers came in the female categories, as French actress Marion Cotillard took home Best Actress for La Vie En Rose, while Brit Tilda Swinton got Best Supporting Actress for her role in Michael Clayton. In fact, all four of the acting awards went to Europeans this year, as Daniel Day-Lewis captured his much-expected Best Actor Oscar for There Will Be Blood, and Spaniard Javier Bardem won Best Supporting Actor for No Country For Old Men.Bardem’s trophy was only one of many for Joel and Ethan Coen’s dark film, as No Country For Old Men also went home with Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. As for the Oscar ceremony itself, second-time host Jon Stewart seemed much more comfortable

The plot follows the interweaving paths of the three central characters (Llewelyn Moss, Anton Chigurh, and Ed Tom Bell) set in motion by events related to a drug deal gone bad near the Mexican-American border in southwest Texas in Terrell County in 1980.Llewelyn Moss is a welder and Vietnam War veteran who stumbles across the aftermath of a drug-related gun battle which has left everyone dead except a single badly wounded Mexican. Moss finds a truck full of heroin and a satchel with $2.4 million in cash. The reviews are inescapable, and they are overwhelmingly positive. You get it...you've been beaten over the head with it: No Country for Old Men is superfantabulexcellenterrific. Well, yes and no. No Country certainly stands as one of the high points of the Coen brothers career, which certainly says something considering their resume (I'd rank it third probably, after Lebowski and Fargo). That said, it has a giant elephant-in-the-room sized issue that it seems not enough people have a problem with. The way I see it, there are three types of people with three different interpretations of the last act of No Country. The first group is "people who have read the book." I assume this group is small. They most likely "get" what happens. The second group is people like me (and the three people I saw the film with). We openly criticized the finale, questioning a number of the choices made, not to mention trying to interpret certain things. We could be classified as "morons who want ev

Mann to Ambush Depp Outside the Biograph: Michael Mann and Johnny Depp have agreed to film “Public Enemies”. It’ll be a Chicago-based film about Depression-era gangsters set in 1933 to 1934.Depp will play John Dillinger, according to Variety. The film is slated to start shooting in Chicago on March 10, 2008.Michael Mann.Photo credit: IMDbMann wrote the script based on the book by Bryan Burroughs. Depp recently backed out of Mira Nair’s “Shantaram” due to WGA strike-related script problems.Since 2006’s “Miami Vice,” Mann has been jumping on and off abandoned projects. “Public Enemies” sounds close in tone and period to an untitled Hollywood noir written by John Logan that stars Leonardo DiCaprio. That project fell through due to a budget climbing in excess of $100 million.Mann also was attached to “Empire” – a media-mogul drama again written by Logan (which its proposed star, Will Smith, recently compared to “Richard III”) – along with a former Martin
Written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, this is the best chase movie ever!
The plot: a hunter named Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) walks on the aftermath of a drug deal gone bad in the middle of th desert somewhere in Texas and discovers suitcase with two million dollars. He tries to disappear with the money but all sorts of people are on his trail, including a psychopathic killer.
The good: This movie is full of suspense and doesn’t let go till the end. This is a very dark chase movie, and probably the best part of it is the realism of the chase - not some crazy Hollywood flick with car getaways and jumping from one roof to another. The most realistic thing about this chase is that it’s very slow. The time stretched so slowly that it creates suspense because everybody knows that bad things are going to happen and no matter how you prolong the chase it is coming to an end and that the destiny is going to catch up with the hero. Adding to the suspense and realism i

“There are no cleans getaways”,”There are no laws left”,”You can’t stop what’s coming”. Well, I feel depressed already.
All kidding aside, I think that these new posters/banners/thingies for No Country for Old Men are quite interesting. They are kind of character posters where the most recognizable characteristic of each character, the face, doesn’t appear. And yet each poster manages to maintain it’s own identity.
The posters also reaffirms the dark tone of the picture and the bareness and desolation of the setting. They also reinforces the action elements of the film by having guns show prominently in each image. These elements aren’t going to be for everybody, but I like them and I think they give the movie a clear identity of it’s own.
So yeah, very interesting.

Although I do think that The Road was somewhat overrated, I've been a Cormac McCarthy fan for several years now. That's why I was happy to spot the move trailer for McCarthy's No Country for Old Men over at BiblioAddict.
Fair warning: the book kept me nervous pretty much the whole time I was reading it. From the looks of this movie trailer, the film won't be any an easier ride. Can't wait.
The Coen brothers’ latest is an adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy novel, No Country for Old Men. To put it crudely, the plot is effectively A Simple Plan meets Terminator 2 meets US Marshalls. A humble hunter (Josh Brolin) stumbles on some dead bodies, a stash of heroin and more than 2 million dollars cash. He takes it, little realising that one of the most terrifying screen villains to ever grace… the screen… is on his trail. Along with sheriff Tommy Lee Jones. As you would expect from the dynamic duo, it received rave reviews at Cannes and is looking to be one of the best films of the year. Except that we Europeans won’t get to see it this year. No Country for Old Men won’t hit Irish and British cinemas until February 2008, which is a bit of a kick in the balls. If you’re American, then we envy you because you’ll be seeing it on November 9 this year.

Sexual Harassment is an issue in the work place. I have never experienced it personally and I think it is more of a female issue because some men believe they have the right to make women feel uncomfortable. The reason I speak of this subject is that a friend of mine recently experienced a situation that I believe could be classified as sexual harassment.Getting her lunch FriendA* was waiting in the queue to get a sandwich or something. A guy who works in the company in a higher position in the company than FriendA walks up to her and says the following:"You definitely aren't eating anything other than a salad, you can't put anything else in that tight little body of yours."What the hell is that? What gives that guy the right to talk ANYONE that way? Just because FriendA works in a position lower than his he feels that it's OK to treat her like meat? This sort of behaviour is not acceptable in any environment let alone the working environment and should be stamped out as soon as the b
In A Gathering of Old Men Ernest J. Gaines gives us a story of redemption, a tale in which more than a dozen old black men who grew up in rural Louisiana during the worst of the Jim Crow years finally find the courage and the will to stand together with dignity against a culture that had deprived them of their very manhood. Gaines himself was born on a plantation near New Roads, Louisiana, in 1933 and picked cotton in the plantation fields before he left Louisiana at age 15 to be with his parents who had moved to California. He never forgot Louisiana, eventually returning to the area as a University of Southwestern Louisiana professor and writer in residence, and made it the subject of his novels, stories and essays. In the novel, Candy, a white woman who lost her parents as a child, was raised as much by Mathu, a black man employed on the plantation as she was by the white family who owned it. When she discovered a white man shot to death in front of Mathu’s house, her love for Ma
