I loved the name, the image, hot chocolate in front a fireplace on a cold day, and at the beginning wanted the training that these large company's offered. Better Homes and Gardens was started by the Meredith Corporation back in 1976. Meredith Corporation ran the company for 20 years and then sold to GMAC. Well, the axe is about to fall again and five Post Offices in the area have been identified for closure - Millstone Lane and Millfields in Nantwich, Cholmondeley, plus Gainsborough Road (pictured) and the Nantwich Road branch, opposite the Earle pub I believe. Apparently, nine branches have closed in the borough since 1997. Anyway, council leader Brian Silvester and others aren't best pleased. If these all had gone ahead as planned, it would have inevitably led to the closure of some village shops in the area. I am extremely happy that common sense has prevailed in this situation." The Post Office story has rumbled for ages. The small branches, the ones that once were the centre of communities, are threatened with closure. They don't make enough money. The services that were once associated with the PO are now available online, in newsagents or supermarkets. However, the fabric of society is being ripped apart as these local branches are closed - so say the likes of Brian Sylvester, leader of Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council. He, and others, are outraged that the government has hinted at further closures. West Street lost a Post Office down by the Merrill's Bridge area about three years ago; will the branch (pictured) just up from Underwood Lane also get the chop? If it does then residents from a large chunk of Crewe will have no option but to travel into town. The elderly, disabled and parents with young kids will find it hard to access certain services. By Lawrence CasirayaMANILA, Philippines -- The Bureau of Internal and Revenue (BIR) has said it will equip more of its offices with computers to help improve tax collection. In an interview, BIR assistant commissioner Alberto Pio De Roda said at least 75 BIR offices, mostly in provincial areas, do not yet have computers and thus no access to the bureau's integrated tax systems. The BIR plans to have the computerization underway via a $6-million project, which will be put up for bidding. "So far, more than 40 sites are computerized and these already account for 80 percent of our total tax collection. With automation, it should improve collection for the remainder of our sites," Pio de Roda said. As it adds more computers, the BIR is also outsourcing the bulk of its IT operations. The bureau has trimmed down its IT workforce from 800 to around 300 people due to outsourcing, Pio de Roda added.

The Real Estate offices in Abu Dhabi are not allowed to rent out or encourage mortgaged buildings, unless they receive permission from the Commercial Buildings Department, said a senior rent official.Mohammed Abdullah Al Basous, the Deputy Director of Rents Administration, pointing out to the rent law, is said to have mentioned that the real estate offices were not granted authorization to handle renting or advertising issues for mortgaged buildings even if they have the landlord's approval.He warned that in case these offices get themselves involved in renting out or marketing these kinds of buildings, they will have to face legal actions as per the rent laws.He emphasized that the department has the right to lease mortgaged apartments to big establishments and companies, who can afford to pay the rents without delay. Or else, all lease processing will have to be done through the raffle draw system, he added.
