Boston’s southern suburbs have become the most popular new address for corporate tenants in 2008.The south suburban region led all of Greater Boston’s office markets in newly leased space during the first quarter. Vacancies fell as tenants signed up for more than 184,000 square feet of office holdings during the quarter, according to data compiled by real estate brokerage Jones Lang LaSalle. “The South Shore continues to get activity from tenants who need big blocks of space and Red Line access,” said James Elcock, an executive vice president at Colliers Meredith & Grew.
Developers started the building boom several years ago as banks, law firms and other companies expanded quickly. In many cases, property firms knocked down buildings from the 1930s, 1950s and 1980s to make way for towering structures of glass and steel. The City's mix of centuries-old architecture and cheap post-World War II construction didn't appeal to big banks, in particular, which wanted large, open trading floors and modern facades.But as the new buildings rise next to London's most historic sites, from St. Paul's Cathedral to the medieval Guildhall, some critics are balking. RICHARDSON (globest.com) – Hillwood has purchased the Cardinal Technology Center I and II from an institutional client of Seattle-based Kennedy Associates Real Estate Counsel Inc.
The 25-acre, 85 percent occupied center includes eight buildings totaling nearly 512,000 square feet. Five buildings totaling about 369,500 square feet are technology structures, while the remaining three are office buildings.
The tech buildings' tenants include Yahoo! Inc., Tyco International Inc. and Sprint Communications.
The Class-A space will receive cosmetic upgrades and be rebranded as Cardinal Park. Transwestern Dallas assisted in the sale. Dallas-based Stream Realty Partners LP will handle leasing.

Mike Judge, who made his big hit with MTV's "Beavis & Butthead", produced an animated short film of "Office Space" years before it was even consider for a feature length movie.The film has since its 1999 release grown into a cult classic of the drudgeries of daily office work and bosses who do little else then ego-trip off the vulnerabilities of others.But Milton does get his ultimate revenge. The animated short here, clearly similar to Bevis and Butthead, shows Milton talking out his treasured stapler and what will happen if it is taken away from him again.Nowadays, office jokes around the country about "Milton" usually always refer to the movie "Office Space" which has joined the likes of other cult classics like "Animal House" or "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."Too bad Milton doesn't have his own MySpace page. Right after our new water cooler was delivered to the office today, Mike said something like, “wow it’s like a real office now”.
About an hour later as I was standing in front of the cooler, enjoying a fresh cup of chilled spring water, and I realized that yes, this is a “real” office now. I think that should be the definition of an “office”.

It has been nearly two months now since me and the rest of Refactr LLC have been out on our own and participating in the great experiment that is virtual officing. We have been using spaces such as coffee shops and libraries to meet and conduct our business. We have tried many locations and it works well when we have meetings in one part of the cities or another to just move around like nomads. It is very nice to have low overhead costs and use the three things we need: Internet access, electricity, and a table - all for the cost of a few lattes and maybe a bran muffin.
We find that it is great to get out of the house and work together, and have not missed a day of meeting, usually at 8am once we went out on our own.
However, like many things in life, the little jagged parts - issues that at first seemed pretty minor, begin to rub you the wrong way (or the same way but in the same spot repeatedly) until finally you can't take it any more. In actuality, coffee shops are not free as e
Before you check out this hilarious recut of Office Space check out Mike Judge’s latest film Idiocracy if you can. Unfortunately it had little to no promotion and was released to only a few theatres. I had the chance to check it out a few months back and I loved it. Every bit as funny as Office Space and likely to also become a cult classic when people can finally see it on DVD. Why this little gem was shafted we’ll never know.
