Isn't a almost 1 year old kitten too old for nursing?
I told you before: Pumuckl doesn't want to grow up. This is not only showing in his size, but also in the fact, that he still from time to time enjoys nursing. Sure not for the purpose of nursing. Pumuckl is almost 1 year old now, so I don't think he is successfully fed. But sometimes I catch him when he is sucking on Chica. He is quite noisy in this, I can tell you. Before I was reading that by the age of 3 months the kitten is weaned and the mother cat will punish the kitten if it still tries to suck... Chica doesn't complain. She seems to truly love her kitten Pumuckl so she allows him to do anything. And he gets spoiled. Not only by us. While most cats grow out of this, Pumuckl still finds the suckling behavior comforting.Well, I couldn't catch a photo of this fascinating mother love, s

CNA Training Information Site: How To Become A Nurse And Get Certified To Attend Nursing School
Depending on what type of nursing you are going into, there are a variety of ways that you can enter. Getting into nursing school requires three special areas to be in harmony. You need to be able to do well on the entrance exam which is normally a test of basic academic skills, and/or you need a decent score on a national standardized test like the SAT or ACT. Second, you need at least 3 good work and personal references. Finally, you need a high school diploma or the equivalent. Good timing along with these three does not hurt. Every school is different. Nursing programs attached to community or junior colleges will usually want you to take a standardized national test. I read this from CNA Training.Nursing schools will always ask for references and often will require a police check. Wha

      Nursing Scholarships and Nurses Caps
Kim at Emergiblog hosted the latest edition of Change of Shift this week. Here are two of my favorites from her findings throughout the nursing community. 101 Little Known Scholarships for Nurses from the Nursing Online Education Database. The second come from the NPR (National Public Radio) program All Things Considered. A recent "homework assignment" for the program was to find the best in obsolete skills. Fran Hill, who graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA, talks about her skill of cap folding and how she recently revisited this skill and it reminded her of her early days as a nurse. Nursing Times: sexual relationship poll
It's misleading statistics time again today. A Nursing Times poll reports that:Up to 16% [of nurses] said they knew of a colleague who had started a sexual relationship with a patient during the time that person was in their careThis was reported in one of the free London papers as "one in six nurses...". Somehow that makes it sound even worse (never mind the fact that one in six is actually nearer 17%).But however you present it, the figure is actually pretty low. After all, the poll isn't saying that one in six nurses has started a sexual relationship with a patient, but that one in six nurses knows of a colleague who has. And how many colleagues does a nurse have – 10? 20? 50? Over the course of a career, that figure must easily run into hundreds (after all, the poll doesn't specify '

Michigan Funds Program to Help High School Students Prepare for Nursing School
Here's a perfect example of why nurses should pay attention to political issues. The state of Michigan is funding a program to better prepare high school students for nursing school. One of the reasons nursing students don't succeed in nursing school is that they have difficulties with the math or reading. This poor success rate is why so many nursings schools have now instituted entrance exams to exclude students who don't have the math, reading and science skills to pass. This type of program is designed to help high school students achieve the necessary math, science and reading skills to succeed and to eventually become nurses and help to solve the nursing shortage.
