SpaceRef article link Ousted From NASA, Former Astronaut to Start New Job By The Associated Pressposted: 21 March 20075:23 p.m. ETCORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) The former astronaut fired by NASA after being accused of trying to kidnap a romantic rival in an airport parking lot will develop flight lesson plans at a military base in Texas as part of her next Navy assignment. Lisa Nowak, a Navy captain, will work on developing curriculum and training programs when she joins the staff of the Chief of Naval Air Training Command in Corpus Christi next month, said Navy spokesman Lt. Sean Robertson. (Nowak) will have more of a course developer role, rather than be a direct instructor,'' Robertson told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. She was originally expected to report for work this week, but Robertson said Nowak will start her new job in April. Nowak was arrested Feb. 5 on suspicion of confronting a romantic rival at the airport in Orlando, Florida. According to police, Nowak pepper-spr

But something has terribly unhinged her, however that should not be any reason to exempt her from the consequences of her actions. ~RJH NASA Watch article link Lisa Nowak's New JobNowak to fill post at NAS-CC, Corpus Christi Caller Times "Starting March 21, Nowak, a Navy captain, will be assigned to the staff of the Chief of Naval Air Training at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Cmdr. Lydia Robertson said." Lisa Nowak NASA BIO "Nowak returned to navy duty effective March 8, 2007." Editor's note: Gee, that statement has certainly been sanitized by NASA PAO.
This whole story of Lisa Nowak has to be the strangest thing to every come out of NASA. No doubt it's all new territory for them as well. The astronauts have historically been such squeaky clean individuals. I can't remember anything even remotely as out there as this happening. ~RJH Space story link NASA Replaces Charged Astronaut for Next Shuttle Mission By Tariq MalikStaff Writerposted: 16 February 20072:58 p.m. ETNASA has chosen a substitute spacecraft communicator to replace astronaut Lisa Nowak during the upcoming STS-117 shuttle flight to launch next month, mission managers said Thursday. Cathy Koerner, lead shuttle flight director for NASA’s STS-117 mission aboard the Atlantis orbiter, said Thursday that astronaut Terry Virts will take Nowak’s position as lead spacecraft communicator -- or Capcom -- during the upcoming construction mission to the International Space Station (ISS). NASA placed Nowak on a 30-day leave last week after she was charged with attempted murder, at

Meet Lisa Marie Nowak, a "rocket scientist" for NASA and a married mother of 3, who drove 900 miles to confront another NASA astronaut, Colleen Shipman, because Lisa believed that Colleen was a competitor for the affections of Navy Cmdr.
