Novell después de una larga y dura batalla ha ganado una demanada impuesta por la SCO, sobre la propiedad del copyright del Unix y Unixware. El juez del distrito de UTA dictaminó que Novell es el dueño de los copyrights de Unix y Unixware, a su vez el juez ha dictaminado que la SCO tiene que darle redito de las licencias de copyright, no estipulando por el momento la cantidad de dinero que tiene que darle a Novell. Esta decisión del juez da la vuelta una demanda que ha impuesto esta empresa a IBM por los mismos cargos, ya que ahora no tiene sentido que SCO demande a IBM por unos coyrights que no poseé. Novell feels that the open source model is a good one. They follow the intention of open source to solve one’s own problems and contribute back to the community. Novell makes ODF-OOXML translator available by ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley — Novell has released for download an Open XML translator that allows users to open and save Microsoft Office Open XML-formatted word-processing documents in OpenOffice. Selama seminggu belakangan ini gue berkutat dengan trouble instalasi server baru dengan merk HP type ML-350 G4P , dimana server merk baru ini tidak mensupport OS Novell Netware 5.1 lagi. Waktu beli server baru ini diwebsitenya emang menyatakan support novell netware tanpa menyatakan versi mana yang di supportnya karena gue pikir pengalaman sebelumnya install di server type ML-370 yang lebih tinggi speknya aja masih mendukung Novell Netware 5.1 jadi ngga kuatir ga support lah ( * sok pede aja *)Setelah server tiba langsung aku coba install dengan CD Smart Start versi 7.40 untuk create partisi DOS dan dilanjutin dengan pemilihan OS yang mau di pakai.
