Image by Chris Gin via FlickrAmong the things that most people don't know about me is, I actually enjoy being alone. I don't enjoy being lonely.. which, mind you, are not the same. God knows I can't live without my family.. Sometimes, I just don't mind going out shopping by myself, eating alone or going to watch a movie alone. I've done it all before.. I think it's just nice to get away from
I know this title seems provocative or maybe even inappropriate, but it clearly explains what just happened. My sister was coming down from Manchester, NH to pick me up to stay at her place tonight so we could go out in Manchester to see a DMB cover and then sleep over to go to my [...]
I just moved out of my parents' house and into a one-bedroom apartment about fifteen minutes away by car. While this does not sound like a daunting "trip," there is more to living alone than meets the eye. In fact, as I type this with no other sound but the whir of my bedroom fan, I am reminded of the pangs of loneliness that I occasionally feel when traveling solo on the far reaches of this plane
These anonymous words of encouragement was recently sent to me by my good friend Ruth and now I gladly pass them to you guys."Remember, there's always a rainbow, wherever a cloud appears, remember there's always tomorrow, although you have doubts and fears.Someone is there to listen,if only you'll stop and pray, someone is close beside you to help you on your way.So if you are one of those people wh
This is my song. It’s Meredith Andrews. I love it, it really touches my heart.
You’re Not Alone
I search for love
When the night came and it closed in
I was alone
but you found me where I was hiding
and now I’ll never ever be the same
It was the sweetest voice that called my name
saying
You’re not alone
for I am [...]

When it comes to deciphering the female urogenital tract, scientists are still at the drawing board. In fact, they have the same questions you might—does the G-spot exist, and if so, where the heck is it? read more | digg story
Whatever your think is, you won’t be alone. All of us think about how to find good value penny stocks, about the mechanism of buying or selling penny stocks, and so much more. But people vary in the way of thinking and to what extent was reached the required information.
Some investors think [...]
After hundreds of angry drivers shut down highways in England Tuesday in protest against green automobile taxes, and drivers and fishermen in France and Spain paralyzed their ports and roads in a fuel-tax protest, politicians began to signal Europe’s ambitious emission-control policies may soon have to be abandoned. While Europe has led the way in [...]
Narutaki and I spent a good deal of time wondering if we should even attempt this article. Neon Genesis Evangelion is such a loaded beast that writing anything directly related to it is a dangerous subject. You can talk about any of the alternate universe or spin off materials like Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days [...]
From A Day At a Time,, May 15:"Looking back at those last desperate days before I came to the Program, I remember more than anything the feelings of loneliness and isolation.... I thank G-d for the greatest single joy that has come to me outside of my sobriety- the feeling that I am no longer alone".There is absolutely no other experience that is the same as sitting at a 12 step meeting. When you
Me on that TRS-80 color computer at age 13
I’ve been programming and working on computers since I was 12 years old. I saw my first computer (a TRS-80 Model III) at a neighbor’s home and immediately found it one of the most fascinating things I had ever seen. So fun in fact, while [...]
Based on the outrage directed toward Miley Cyrus for her topless photo (pictured below) in Vanity Fair this month, you’d think the Disney actress was the first young celebrity to ever show some skin.
But this is far from the case.
We’ve uncovered a slew of celebrity pictures that show stars who may have been too young [...]
Those who made it through the great depression remembers how it was to get along with no money coming in at all for long periods of time. It was a horrible time for millions. Some people in our time that can not find a decent job, can sympathize with those of that era.
There are those [...]

Have you filed your taxes yet? I just finished my taxes this week. Unfortunately, the news was not good - my wife and I owe $1,100. But we will get $1,200 for the economic stimulus rebate in May, so that will make up for it. (economic stimulus rebate check schedule)

Obviously I’m not a fan of Perez Hilton (he is my competition for a start) but I found I am not the only one to take a dislike to the current queen of internet gossip.
My main objections to Perez, real name Mario Lavandeira, is his stance on gay celebrities, I say let them be and [...]
h/t to China Digital Times for this picture posted on Netease.
It is timely as my director and I were talking about the difficulties of new graduates finding good jobs now, and the fact that all the babies born in 2007 (year of pig) and 2008 (Olympic babies) are probably going to create a very tight [...]
People love Portland. Oregon too. That’s why more people move here than leave here. It’s why more than half of Oregon’s population comes from somewhere else.Latest census figures show that 149,838 people moved to Oregon in 2006. At the same time, 115,524 people moved away leaving Oregon with a net gain of 33,314.No surprise, Californians moved here the most. Here are the top five states where people moved from in 2006:1. California = 51,2952. Washington = 24,2303. Arizona = 8,0784. Texas = 4,5805. Colorado = 4,424
Yes, Shea Stadium is a complete dump and the quicker that hell hole is demolished, the better off the players, fans and franchise will be. But if you are a lifelong Mets fan, it is near impossible to let the great -- and not-so-great -- memories die without taking at least one trip down ol' memory lane. For a lot of you, Shea Stadium may have been the very first ballpark you ever attended...and for sports fans that is as impactful as losing your virginity. Hell, some of you may have even literally lost your virginity at Shea. I know the place sure as hell smells like it.At any rate, the new Citi Field will most certainly be welcomed with open arms. But until there are some noteworthy sensations attached to the new home, Shea will forever be the one you always love. One longtime fan cited the recently torn down Shea Stadium subway platform as the beginning of the end to her beloved getaway.I can't count how many times over the years I've traveled to Shea via the 7 train, and have a
Saudi Arabia's decision to exclude the falling dollar from discussions at this weekend's OPEC summit was supported by others within the producer group, Angola's Finance Minister Jose Pedro de Morais said. Saudi Arabia, the world's largest crude oil exporter and an ally of the U.S., yesterday rejected a proposal by Iran and Venezuela to debate pricing oil in currencies other than the dollar, a day before the OPEC heads of state summit in Riyadh. ``This is not the case of Saudi Arabia against the rest at all,'' de Morais said in an interview today. ``Since the OPEC economy is profoundly linked to the dollar, any rash move could do more harm than good.'' Leaders of the 12-member Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries landed today in Riyadh, where Saudi police blocked off streets and helicopters patrolled the skies. The group will commit to ensuring stable oil supply and seek ways of reducing carbon emissions fro
This weekend, the news was that Presidential candidate Bill Richardson was demanding answers about the Roswell incident of decades past. Now a judge wants information released about an incident that happened outside of Pittsburgh. First, the lowdown on Richardson from Weasel Zippers:ROUND ROCK, Texas — If he wins his bid for the White House, Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson may be just the man to get to the bottom of the 60-year-old Roswell UFO mystery.Answering questions at a townhall meeting Friday, a Dell employee asked Richardson about the 1947 incident in which many people still believe a flying saucer landed near the eastern New Mexico town."I've been in government a long time, I've been in the cabinet, I've been in the Congress and I've always felt that the government doesn't tell the truth as much as it should on a lot of issues," said Richardson, who is governor of New Mexico."When I was in Congress I said (to the) Department of Defense ... (Archived in: Personal Freedom Related Miscellany)It seems that new found friends the French are getting a dose of what the USA has experienced with the ongoing fear mongering, making way for more executive orders, less control of borders, and the steady stream of freedoms lost since 911.Remember when fast food chains quit calling French Fries "French Fries" in protest of France? Well, the US and France are buddies again.Good for them, and the irony is that there would probably be no US of A, if the French had not pulled the US bacon out of the fire to end the Revolution. Now both countries seem to be on similar paths again with regard to loss of liberties.Call me crazy, but there certainly seems to be a push for global trade zones, and less national sovereignty. The latest being the renewed attempt to ratify L.O.S.T. (Law of the Sea Treaty). It's a great acronym, for much sovereignty is at risk to be "lost".New blog buddy, Steve Mulligan, sent me this link about the Big Brother surve
So, enough with the allergy talk.As I was taking a break from doing some work-related computer this earlier this afternoon, I found myself on The Anxiety Disorders Association of America's website, found here. There's some interesting information on it, most notably to me the number of clinical trials going on across the country that have to do with anxiety. But the most amazing item on their site has to do with workplace absenteeism. According to them, there are 3.7 billion days missed by American workers. Anxiety and related disorders are responsible for 1.3 billion of them:Social Anxiety Disorder: 214 million daysPost-Traumatic Stress Disorder: 113 million daysGeneralized Anxiety Disorder: 110 million daysPanic Disorder: 101 million daysWe're literally missing out. According to the Department of Labor, at the end of September there were 146.3 million jobs in this country. If we hypothetically assume that statistic to be static, then that means there were, on average, about ni

Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears: Not Alonewritten June 19, 2007With the deluge of recent press and attention on Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, one might think that Hollywood celebs are the only young people in the world who are in trouble with the law and who revisit rehab because of their struggles with drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately, they are not alone.Sean Covey, bestselling author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens (http://www.7habits4teens.com/) and The 6 Most Important Decisions You’ll Ever Make (http://www.6decisions.com/) and FranklinCovey senior vice president of innovations and products, said, “Drug and alcohol abuse strikes the best and brightest among us and no one is immune, no matter how rich or famous. There are many good people who become alcoholics, compulsive gamblers or drug addicts. They’re really not that different from you and me. They have the same hopes and dreams. The only thing that separates them from the rest of

UK drivers suffer ‘green guilt’17 April 2007 Despite a heightened awareness of the green agenda in recent months, three-quarters of drivers climb behind the wheel every single day. But according to research from Prudential Car Insurance, this is beginning to play on our conscience with one-in-five admitting they feel guilty about driving in cities because of the potential environmental damage. The younger generation of 18-24 year olds (14 per cent) is far less bothered about their urban driving habits compared to 35-44 year olds (22 per cent). Also, more men (20 per cent) are wracked with guilt than women (18 per cent). But if we feel this bad about it – why are we still driving each and every day?Prudential’s survey reveals that six-in-ten drivers (57 per cent) reluctantly view driving in the city as a necessary evil, despite having access to a plethora of public transport links. According to drivers, the dependability of public transport is at the heart o
Yes! At 10.40 this morning my patience was rewarded as Killer Cat put in an appearance in a field off Abbey Lane. Better still, he was accompanied by the smoky coloured cat with spots that I mentioned in this blog on 19 February. I think I'll call that one Leopard Cat.I spent several minutes watching both cats as they sauntered through the field without a care in the world. Leopard Cat led the way, closely followed by an apparently uncertain Killer Cat who kept shaking a front paw as if he'd stood on something prickly. Unfortunately, I then lost sight of Killer Cat but after a few minutes Leopard Cat forced his way through my hedge and into the garden.I immediately grabbed my camera and threw open the window. As I did so, Leopard Cat gave me a long withering look - almost as if he thought I was a piece of dirt. Of course, it might just have been that he didn't like the sound of Ray Clark (standing in for Dave Monk) from BBC Essex which was playing rather loudly on my radio. Whatever
