One of the areas that we miss visiting is the mountains of North
Georgia. The small towns of Helen, Clayton, Dillard, Mountain City, all
have a special charm. Helen, a touristy town with a German theme, has
many shops and restaurants, with river tubing through town always a fun
activity. In
Dillard, we always eat at the Dillard House, which serves up a freshly
made all-you-can-eat buffet (from foods grown on the property), with
rocking chairs on their porch so you can recover afterwards. In the many
shops around the towns you are sure to find locally made crafts (be sure
to visit the Tallulah Falls area for their handmade quilts), plus
homemade ice cream and preserves. As

As a service to myself, my clients, customers and readers, I will be giving monthly market reports as well as in depth quarterly reports on the real estate market for the North Georgia Mountains. Should there be any statistics within my reports that I have left out that you would like me to compile the information and post, please contact me and I will be more than happy to do so. I want to thank you for taking time to read my North Georgia Mountain real estate market reports. The data that I put together comes straight from our local Northeast Georgia Board of Realtors. I have been known to make a mistake from time to time, so please understand that while this information is deemed reliable, it is not guaranteed.
This report shows us the number of ALL Listings within Gilmer, Fannin and Union counties in North Georgia that was either sold or went under contract during the month of November 2007.

Market activity for home and land sales in Jasper and Pickens County, GA, as we go into the holiday season, is something of a mixed bag . . .
On the downside, inventory levels of houses for sale has climbed to 17.7 months. There are currently 615 active home listings in Pickens County, but only 417 homes have sold in the past 12-months (heightening the importance of sellers pricing their home
A couple of weeks ago I attended a live on-site real estate auction, at which several bank-owned North Georgia homes were being auctioned (part of a larger sale by a national auction house of more than 50 homes in the Atlanta metro area). I was a little surprised at what I saw.
The investors that I was with were outbid on our house of choice, which went for a little over $200,000. The high

Activities in the rolling hills that make up the North Georgia area are for the most part best suited to those who are slightly more active in their leisure pursuits, or who at least enjoy the outdoors. This semi-rural world of small towns and simple living is not much given to museums, galleries, theaters, auditoriums, stadiums and other pastimes found in more urban and developed areas.

Baby Boomers are the buzz. No doubt about it.Less than surprising of course . . . just check out the numbers! (Boomer Stats)Marketing dollars follow the money, and Boomers control a lot of that money -- which is probably why there's a related story every time we log on or tune in! While builders and developers in the real estate arena have been somewhat slow on the uptake, there are a growing number of residential communities that now cater specifically to the growing ranks of active buyers among seniors in residential real estate markets around the country. These developments are mostly located close to major urban areas, but a few now dot the North Georgia landscape as well, with more sure to follow. These "Active Adult" or "Retirement" Communities take many shapes and forms, and it falls on the buyer to understand these differences and make an informed choice based upon individual needs. Some communities bill themselves as catering to active adults or retirees, but don't place any a

The Waleska and Ball Ground areas of the county are likewise seeing some large scale projects in the works. Cherokee however has had a very strong real estate market for the past few years and is growing the infrastructure to handle this growth (although expansion of 575 is likely to become a hot button issue before long, as bottle-necks continue to increase and as commute times lengthen from Canton to I-75). But what of Jasper?According to the latest numbers from the Pickens County Land Development Office, deve
