Two thumbs up- Hawaii BBQ & Noodle House
I ran by this place on my way home on Friday, and I had heard from some co-workers that it was a good place. The prices were far better than the "Haggenese" you can buy at Haggen's grocery store here in Bellingham, and the food was a lot better. We tried: Pineapple Chicken, Sweet N Sour Pork, Mongolian Beef, and Teriyaki Chicken. I'm a bit tired of the sweet, but the Pineapple Chicken was not as overbearing with the sweetness as the Sweet N Sour Pork was...but you have to expect that. The Mongolian Beef was delicious, I couldn't really eat it because it was VERY spicy, but my husband had wanted it so I bought some for him (we shared our entrees over the course of the last two nights). Fast and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup
Here is a very easy and quick chicken noodle soup recipe for those who are time poor but still want something that tastes good. It should take you around 10-15 mins to prepare and will serve approximately 5-7 people depending how much you each want. Personally I prefer richer cooked from scratch chicken noodle soup recipes to this one, but this recipe as I said is a quick, hence we have to use precooked chicken and packaged or pre made chicken stock, still it tastes good though. Ingredients: 2- 2/1/2 Cups of cooked chicken pieces. 1350ml (45 fl oz) of chicken stock ( broth) 2 Medium sized celery stalks 3 medium carrots 1 medium to large onion Noodles - preferably choose a short smallish egg noodle shape enough to serve around 5-7 cups of soup pinch of salt pinch of pepper Instructions: You’ll need precooked chicken to make this recipe fast, but you could cook your own from scratch, and for this chicken noodle soup recipe it really doesn’t matter how the chicken was cooked.

      A Magnificient Noodle
I found this magnificent noodle while cooking dinner tonight. I wonder what this could mean. This royal noodle could mean that good or bad luck is on the way... I’ve decided its good luck because it resembles a horseshoe. This week I found a moth above my doorway, and walked through a few cobwebs... both of which mean you will acquire money, and that would be good luck. Yep, good things are on the way, that must be what this magnificent noodle is trying to tell me. Why else would I find such a magnificent noodle? Any ideas?TEXT Posted by Ann Clemmons

The reason is simply because they serve some pretty decent tasting noodles .One Noodle actually has got a lot of pressure to serve some pretty good food. For one, they are from the same family as KTZ, which has been serving fantastic desserts to us for a long time. Secondly, their first One Noodle in Kepong, is situated right opposite of Lim Meng Kee , Kepong who used to have a La Mian stall next to their KTZ stall in Kepong. That LMK stall actually had a La Mian Sifu making fresh la mian. Fuiyoo... pressure or not ?My sayang's first choice is always, their buckwheat la mian noodles in clear soup. Longevity Noodle in Chicken Broth
My late grandfather told me that people during their time were very poor. They can only have chicken during Chinese New Year, if they can afford it and they look forward to each birthdays because then they will be given an hard-boiled egg (shells dyed red) all to themselves. And if they are lucky, there will be a bowl of Longevity Noodles (长寿面) aka Rice Wheat Noodles (面线) to go with it. They were not suppose to cut or bite the noodles to shorten it because the noodles symbolise longevity. You wouldn't have to shorten your life would you?Nowadays, people no longer have that for birthday. Perhaps some may not even know the existence of this simple meal. They may not even want to have this for their birthday when they can afford any other food they like. But for me and my husband, it's like a tradition. We don't have rich, modernised (read: no cakes) parents. Both our mothers cooked us Longevity Noodles during our birthdays but of course there were chicken, eggs and stuff lik

ramen rating: dr noodle shiitake spinach
And now, for something slightly different… I’m a real snob when it comes to ramen: I believe that only “true” Japanese ramen, instant or otherwise, should be considered “ramen.” Korean “ramyun”? Not ramen. Chinese “la mien”? Nope. Try again. Not ramen. So what’s wrong with this picture? 1. The brand is called “Dr. Noodle.” Come on! That’s like saying “Mister California Roll” sounds like an authentic sushi restaurant! 2. Shiitake spinach flavor…shiitake and spinach?? Not exactly a traditional ramen flavor. 3. The words “non fried” smack in the middle of the package. (Shaking my head…I’m just not big on “healthy” foods…) So why in the world am I doing this review? Why else do I do things I don’t normally do…my wife…likes it… Dr. Noodle is a brand of instant noodles from Taiwan’s Sing-Lin Foods, which has many many

PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, the world's biggest noodle maker, said first-half profit rose 37 percent as a growing economy led to higher consumption of the company's Indomie and Supermi noodles. Net income at the company controlled by businessman Anthoni Salim rose to 367.2 billion rupiah ($39 million) in the six months ended June 30, from a restated 267.8 billion rupiah a year earlier, the company said yesterday in an embargoed e-mail. Sales rose 21 percent to 12.3 trillion rupiah. The company in May raised prices of its best-selling noodle brands by as much as 5.5 percent. Equipment Review - Maxfli Noodle Long and Soft Golf Balls
Golf Ball ReviewMaxfli Noodle Long and Soft golf balls are certainly not at the high price end of golf balls. Coming in at around $28 (Aussie dollars) for 12 they are affordable yet give regular golfers a very decent ball for their money. The Long and Soft Noodle Ball is designed to deliver that optimum blend between distance, soft feel and spin. It is a two piece ball and has a 408 dimple pattern engineered to deliver a high and long carrying trajectory.I first used this ball in my last round of golf and while my driver and I were not seeing eye to eye on this particular day my iron shots were certainly carrying further than I expected. Using my 4 iorn I was actually outhitting my playing partner who was using a 3 wood. Amazingly not only do these balls deliver great distance, but also great feel around the greens. I would certainly recommended these balls to the golfer looking for a relatively cheap ball that is still good quality. While I have certainly used better balls, they did co

This can be made with a variety of ingredients, but the most interesting are probably pork (as here), beef, chicken, shrimp, meat balls, fish balls, shrimp balls, or "monkey balls" (a mixed meat ball - not actually made from monkey meat!), or one of the various Thai sausages, as well as vegetarian options (try marinating some tofu in dark sweet soy sauce for about 3 hours and then using that instead of the pork).- Colonel Ian F. Ken Noodle House

We had this for lunch today and it was very good -- Sydney enjoyed it, too! The weekend was exceptional in all ways. It was great to jet ski again. Have a slight injury so I'm wearing what Marie refers to as my "second skin" -- the tensor bandage!Speaking of Marie, I heard from her this morning. Those of you who know her will be glad to hear she's doing well and settling in at her son's home. She was overwhelmed to receive the cheque from Beau(coup) with our monies raised (I was impressed by the generosity of a certain "deciduous" individual, btw) for her from paid posting and hanging out our "shingles" to send writing projects her way. She can't handle any further projects at this time and her blog is offline. She'll be back within a month, so we can all look forward to hearing from her then. Sorry I haven't had time to email everyone individually or via our "loop". I'll get caught up soon. That's a promise. :)Noodle Wedges With Smoked Chicken Salad8 ounces thin, fresh egg noo

      A Tasteful Chicken Noodle Salad
I bought my first wok about seventeen years ago. I saw it in a magazine and ordered it at once. My first thought was "what a large frying pan". But the wok was more than a frying pan. When I say "wok", I mean "stir fry", which means cooking food quickly, stirring constantly over extremely high heat in a small amount of fat. As a matter of fact, the wok worked good for steam-cooking too, and other methods of cooking.INGREDIENTS:Serves 4-6* 500 g noodles* 1 dl olive oil* 500 g chicken fillets* 3 cloves garlic* 3 teaspoons sesame seeds* juice of 3 limes* 4 tablespoons soy* 1 teaspoon wasabi paste* 3 tablespoons rice vinegar* 6-8 salad onions* 2 teaspoons sambal oelekGARNISH:* fresh coriander or parsleyMETHOD:1. Heat 2 tablespoons of the olive oil in a wok or frying pan.2. Fry the chicken fillets, set aside when they are cooked through.3. Peel and chop garlic, fry until golden with the sesame seeds.4. Add lime juice, soy, wasabi, rice vinegar, stir to mix, set aside.5. Cook noodles accordi

      SiewBak Noodle
I had lunch at Uncle Ho’s the other day at the Mid Valley Mega Mall (Lower Ground). Ordered the Aglio Olio (spelling?) with roasted pork. They are famous for their roasted pork (or so called siewbak 烧肉). This is a dish using speghatti cooked in aglio olio style, and topped with this famous pork. Tastes very well at first, but towards the end, feel very oily and err… jelak (how to say this in English?). Furthermore, since the roasted pork is so oily, the aglio olio is also oily (not sure whether they used olive oil like more of the a/o, I just felt very unhealthy towards the end… Hmm.. don’t think I will order that again in the future.

The healthy way to cook instant noodle
Over dinner last nite, I found something new from our friends here on> the> correct way to eat instant noodles without harming our bodies and health. Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for 3 mins around and then ready to eat. This is the WRONG method of cooking the instant> noodles. By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structures of the MSG causing it to be toxic. The other thing that you may or may not realized is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have taken the noodles. So the CORRECT method, which you may or may not know, is to cook the noodles this way: 1. boil the noodles in a pot with water. 2. once the noodles is cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax. 3. boil another pot of water till

Anyways, thinking back to that noodle post, I had a magical day a while ago. I had entered my classroom after the break and I saw five kids eating these "noodle snacks". I was surprised so I had to take advantage of this opportunity for some photo ops. Of course, as the month went on ‘things’ got in the way. Particularly the fact that I have decided to re-join the workforce! Instant Noodle 101
Since I ventured a little into instant noodles on my last post, I thought I might as well deliver the whole enchilada while my "noodle" is still in "oo-dle" gear. In my last post, I gave Mr. Yi from China his props for the concept of the instant noodle. But it was a Japanese company called Nissin that kicked it up a notch and gave birth to the colorful plastic-wrapped rectangular 4" by 6" bricks of dried "instant ramen" noodles that we are more familiar with today. Today, instant noodles aren't just about quick-fix meals for rat-racers or low-budget meals for starving students anymore. They are balanced with meat and vegetables and served as proper meals not only at home, but also at many Oriental restaurants, especially in Hong Kong-style cafes. My favorite brand of instant noodles is "Maggi". I've tried many different brands that get all mushy after cooking but Maggi noodles retain that chewy, springy texture that is the first thing I look for. Not to mention their soup seasonings c

      Rice Noodle Rolls
Two weeks of craving this Malaysian Style Chee Cheong Fun is a torture. Desperate needs call for desperate measures. I wasted no time at the Asian grocery market picking up a pack of rice noodle rolls and had a satisfying time with an easy rice noodle recipe. In Cantonese cuisine, rice noodle rolls are prepared by wrapping shrimp or BBQ pork in rice noodle sheets. Many times you will also see long and crunchy chinese dough cruellers wrapped in them as well, served at many Cantonese dimsum restaurants. In Vietnamese cuisine, rice noodle rolls, aka "bahn cuon", are served with crispy mungbean and shrimp fritters, crispy sweet potato strips, slices of pork meatloafs, bean sprouts with fish sauce. Rice noodle rolls are also call "lai cheong fun" in Hong Kong, which literally means pulled-intestinal-like-noodles, aptly named for their appearance. I love all variation of ways they are prepared and have tried them all. I am glad that they are widely available in Southern California so every o

I'm really sad that I couldn't be there. As I mentioned briefly on Friday… Elijah has RSV - and the RSV caused pneumonia. The doctor called me himself to tell me. We talked about having Elijah admitted into the hospital for oxygen treatments. However, I felt like he was breathing ok… and that I had what I needed here to take care of him. (we have the nebulizer already because of Malachi's asthma) The doctor gave me the information I needed to be immediately admitted into the hospital if Elijah needed oxygen… and he even gave me his cell phone number so I could reach him anytime. Thankfully I haven't had to take him up on going to the hospital or calling him. Elijah is still wheezing and coughing… but nowhere near as bad - he is definitely improving. I haven't slept for three
