Article taken from HT epaper. Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination in 1948 forced the Nobel Prize Committee which had “unanimously” decided to confer him with the top honour after short-listing the Indian leader for the five times - to abandon the plan. “(Mahatma) Gandhi was short-listed for the Nobel Prize five times,” Norwegian Nobel Committee chief Ole Danbolt [...]

Limbaugh Jealous Over Loss of Nobel Peace Prize to Gore?
Perhaps Rush Limbaugh is so upset about Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize since he was also nominated for the award, as I reported in in February. The nomination was made by the Landmark Legal Foundation according to Landmark President Mark Levin for his for his “nearly two decades of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all humankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin.” It’s hard to imagine anyone saying the above with a straight face about Limbaugh. Pensito Review  believes that Limbaugh was behind his own nomination: For starters, it appears that Limbaugh de facto nominated himself. The nomination went out under the letterhead of “his lawyers” at the Landmark foundation, a rightwing nonprofit for which Limbaugh is an unpaid adviser. (Landmark’s donors include relatives of Richard Melon Scaife, the Pittsburgh heir and newspaper publisher who funded the Arkansas Project, a smear campaign against the Cli

Al Gore, Global Warming and the Nobel Peace Prize
Norwegian Nobel Committee Tries To Dodge CriticismAward Had Nothing To Do With Peace...Regarding Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize...Note: According to Wikipedia, The Nobel Prizes (Swedish: Nobelprisen), as designated in Alfred Nobel's will in 1895, are awarded for physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, and peace. A prize in economics in memory of Nobel was instituted by Sweden's central bank in 1968. They are widely regarded as the most prestigious award one can receive in those fields of research, although the peace prize is also viewed as being politically motivated. The Norwegian Nobel Committee had to dodge some criticism both at home and from afar over the weekend, after it awarded this year's Nobel Peace Prize to former US Vice President Al Gore and the UN's panel on climate change.Janne Haaland Matlary, a professor of political science and former State Secretary for Foreign Affairs specializing in security and defense, told newspaper Aftenposten that she

First, I would like to welcome the distinguished Nobel panel, recent honorees and nominees, guys that re-painted my private jet in Fort Worth at the American Airlines service depot, and of course Mrs. Arafat and her many hybrid camel riding chillins in greater PLO Land if not more specifically Hollywood itself. It has been said and seconded that temperatures are rising on Mars and Saturn, just as they are now rising on planet dirt. While there may be complete truth to that, not for one second ever doubt my willingness to forgo inconvenient mathematical facts but instead transect the over-riding legal authority which praise Buddhist temples every precinct may indeed now allow our dear Red Army DNC campaign contributors to continue per their daily construction of 1930's era coal-fired plants, as I continually blame Bush for Chinese leaded toys, AIDS spas, the J

Al Gore and IPCC Win Nobel Peace Prize
As widely predicted, Al Gore has added the Nobel Peace Prize to his Oscar and Emmy Awards. Former vice president Al Gore and a United Nations panel that monitors climate change were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize today for their work educating the world about global warming and pressing for political action to control it. The Norwegian Nobel Committee characterized Gore as “the single individual who has done most” to convince world governments and leaders that climate change is real, is caused by human activity and poses a grave threat. Gore has focused on the issue through books, promotional events and his Academy Award-winning documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth.” Gore joins other Americans who have won the prize, both as political leaders and for advocacy work: Gore joins a short list of other senior U.S. political figures to be honored with the peace prize, including former president Jimmy Carter in 2002; then-Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in 197

Congratulations Al Gore, Jr., Winner Of The 2007 Nobel Peace Prize
Today it was announced that the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize was jointly awarded to The UN’s International Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) jointly with Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States under Bill Clinton. This is the very same Al Gore who should have become the forty-third president of the US, had it not been for the disastrously bad partisan (5-4) vote by the Supreme Court in its 2000 decision to anoint the Presidency to whom historians now call “ The worst President in US history, George Walker Bush. According to BBC News, “By choosing Al Gore and the IPCC for the award in 2007, the Nobel Committee have rightly brought to our attention that climate change is the single biggest threat to world peace we have ever faced.” Mr. Gore has been a champion for bringing awareness of climate change with his 2006 Oscar-winning documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth”, and numerous books over the years on the the importance of ecology. It is also worthwhile to note that he states he is going to be giving away a share of the 1.5 million dollar prize to an environmental org, the Alliance for Climate Protection. Rush Limbaugh Nominated For Nobel peace Prize!!!
The Landmark Legal Foundation nominated radio host Rush Limbaugh for the 2007 Nobel peace prize. President of the foundation and radio show host Mark Levin states:"Everyday he gives voice to the valuesof democratic governance, individual opportunity and the just, equalapplication of the rule of law -- and it is fitting that the NobelCommittee recognize the power of these ideals to build a truly peacefulworld for future generations."This nomination was announced on the same day ( yesterday ) Al Gore was nominated for his efforts for climate change. Now liberals are going to all of a sudden get all moral and self-righteous and say that the Nobel peace Prize shouldn't be given to drug addicts.Okay, I'll buy that. Just as soon as you libs set the same standards to former President Jimmy Carter.
