I purchased Ghosts I-IV last night. It's the first time I've paid to listen to music since high school. It's the new 36 track collection by Nine Inch Nails. And it is shamazing. Purely instrumental, Ghosts relies on various synthesizers and all kinds of strange items to create the distinct NIN sound, a surreal medley of noises which meld perfectly into a cohesive whole. Ghost I is available to freely download and if you please, you can download the rest of the tracks for a paltry $5.And I am sorry for lying to you. If youve seen the album artwork this seems like one of the first physical albums ill own, I was gonna buy it on iTunes but i think i have to actually own it.
This is NIN’s fourth consecutive number one single.
I can’t wait to get this for two reasons. One, because I downloaded it and it is amazing. Two, because I saw a picture of the cd before and after ripping it in the computer. I want to see if the cover really is heat sensitive and changes when you rip it. If so, that is the coolest thing I have ever seen. If not, the person that posted those pics is a douche.
If you picked up the new album today, you opened it up to find a black CD. Put upon putting it in your computer and listening to it for a while, you’ll find the CD isn’t black anymore when you take it out……
I popped the burned copy or Year Zero that I’ve been listening to since last week out of my car’s CD player, and popped in the new black NIN Cd. I listened to Hyperpower! and was amazed at how much better it sounded than the 256KBps version that was on my burn. I took the original out so I could put in the burned copy and compare the two only to see that the new disc was light tan in color now. Every track adds value to the overall statement of Year Zero: It's as much about hardline liberal politics (as much as he cares to do) as it is about hard rock entertainment. Reznor has said his concept of how society will eventually collapse--marking the start of the end of the modern world--came to him in a recurring daydream, making the album strangely that much more prophetic.

When I was first initiated into the Nine Inch Nails experience, roughly around the time of "The Fragile" with the song "The Perfect Drug" (although that song isn’t on that album). I became immediately fascinated by Trent Reznor, the music and what it all meant. This is not easy as Nine Inch Nails has rarely been a pop band with only a few hits in the mainstream, but their following is fiercely loyal, open to all the art and emotion that these songs, while wrapped in industrial beats and screeching guitars, still exhibit. I immediately wanted to hear more and discovered what is probably their most well known song, "Head Like a Hole," and some of the other industrial and conceptual bands of the time.
Now, many of those bands have vanished as goth and industrial have become more widespread, and to be honest, I don’t listen to NIN nearly as much as I did in 1999.
