      Shattering Real Estate Marketing Nightmares
by Alan OlsonIn a hot market, many sellers may find they have no problems recruiting interest and potential offers. But, when things slow down, it's imperative to be sharp with your marketing skills, to get your property noticed and to entice as many possible buyers as possible. Make sure your agent is internet and marketing savvy and can do their very best to advertise your property and showcase it in its best light.First off, peruse the photos your agent has uploaded onto the MLS and their own site. As images are the instantaneous equivalent to "a thousand words", you want to know that they are serving to paint a pretty picture. The photo of the front of the house should be particularly clear and appealing. There should be enough photos of the interior, ideally you'll want to include a sh

Maybe a couple. The truffles I took care of (and I even grocery shopped for the dinners these truffles have shaped.) But that's where it stops.Let me tell you about the dream I had last night. Mix in some stuttering ramshackle funk, jerky, jagged rhythms and seethingly tense proggy psychedelia and you have the perfect soundtrack to the apocalypse. The Beaks have been ploughing their idiosyncratic furrow since 2003 releasing the bizarre 'Gang Cave' in July of that year and the equally strange and challenging 'Preyers' E.P. on Tigerbeat6 last year. Gathering Dreamlings and Nightmares with Neil Gaiman
Now’s your chance to meet one of the greatest living post-modern authors, Neil Gaiman. Neil Gaiman is returning to the Philippines this November to speak at the 20th Philippine Advertising Congress, and will also be having a special book reading just for his fans.Gaiman is no stranger to “The New Order,” the main theme of this year’s Ad Congress, because it’s largely because of his efforts that the “graphic novel” has come into its own as a legitimate and very popular art form.Although he loved to read comics as a child, Gaiman’s interest waned in his teens when he felt that he could learn nothing new from the medium. However, the emergence of the graphic novel in the 1970’s and 1980’s inspired Gaiman to become a comic book writer. During the early 1980’s, he worked as a freelance journalist and editor until he was able to publish his first comic book, Violent Cases, in collaboration with artist Dave McKean in 1987. Afterwards, Gaiman was invited by DC comics to

Nightmares and Night Terrors - A Frightening Sleep Disorder
By: Elmo Kandel At some time in their childhood almost all children experience the sleep disorder of having a nightmare. They are common in children and can begin as early as two years old. They are most common in children between three and twelve years old and are considered part of the normal developmental process. However, only about 3 percent, experience night terrors, also called sleep terrors. Both of these sleep disorders can be very frightening to a child.Nightmares are dreams that are so frightening that they wake the person up. Everyone has had nightmares occasionally throughout their life and they usually are not something to worry about. Nightmares occur several hours after going to sleep during the REM stage of sleep when there is general body paralysis and active dreaming.A child can remember the nightmare once they awake and they still remember it in the morning. Sometimes this nightmare sleep disorder can become a problem if the child has nightmares very often and becom

I thought I was having nightmares but then I realized I wasn’t asleep!
The mass nightmare I fear is the current polluted environment we have allowed to completely encompass our school aged children. To truly understand this environment entirely, allow me to first state these three individual nightmares completely and seemingly separate and distinct. However they collectively create the magnitude and far reaching influence of the environment I am referring to. I am not attempting to be an alarmist or simply trying to frighten you in the spirit of the season of Halloween. This environment is truly a nightmare and you too will experience its frightening effects sooner or later with your children. The first nightmare I refer to doesn't sound all that frightening and it seems more of a pet-peeve rather than a real problem. Lately, I have noticed this happening whenever a news agency has the two major political parties on a talk-show to discuss and answer questions. When one side, and it truly doesn't matter which side, because they both do it, is asked to ans

Hell-bent on making a stand in pushing for safer bedding to the consumers of today, the latest bill that is scheduled to be mobilized by the International Sleep Products Association is being pegged to pose problems and provide stiffer standards for bed manufacturers as far as fire hazards and overall safety is concerned. Beds have been identified as potential fire hazards and most organizations such as the ISPA are laying down the law to provide their welfare and being. For bed manufacturers, such standards are overkills but considering that safety is one primary concern for distributed products, it should be something that must be truly emphasized as well. Kitchen Nightmares: The Seascape
Viewers knew from the moment they met Irene and her son Peter that their restaurant The Seascape was in incapable hands. From poor management, to an old-fashioned chef who was unwilling to listen to Gordo or even taste his dishes, to a nagging mama who made terrible Greek cookies, to a crumbling restaurant interior that had remained unchanged since its heyday in the 70's, one got the sense that there was NO HOPE for this group. Oh, our intrepid Gordo whipped the staff into some sort of shape, fired the chef and sous chef, both of whom kept a filthy kitchen and didn't have a clue of how to cook fresh food, and upgraded the decor to resemble a 21st century version of a red bordello. But one could sense quite early on that Peter would never fill his dead father's capable shoes, not as long as his mama was around to pistol-whip him with her tongue at every opportunity. And so on the last day of his week with this motley crew, Gordo kinda sorta showed the group how to turn the restaurant

I had a nightmare over the weekend. I kept choking and choking - I couldn't swallow some lettuce and I went to the ER where they proceeded to stretch my esophagus out with a medieval, torturing device. I told the dream doctor that I thought it might hurt as he began and he said, "Yeah, most patients cry for 2 hours." Then I woke up because even my sleeping brain knew that was a bunch of crap.It can't be that bad, but I am obviously a little nervous about my appointment.I've been spending a lot of time thinking about my Grandma, visiting with her on the phone since she had her stroke and is inside more often. Before tasting the food in one of these godawful restaurants, Gordo says this little prayer: "May the lord above not poison me." When he viewed a vegetable samosa at Dillon's, Gordo's reaction was priceless: "It looks like a dehydrated turd." Hah!However, not everyone is as enamored of the new series as moi. Reality TV Calendar disses the American version of this BBC show, saying,Watching this week's FOX show, I felt a little underestimated as a viewer. Toddler Nightmares
Little Miss has started having what I can only assume are nightmares most nights. At least once or twice a night there are sobs or even little screams coming from her room, which of course leads to me racing in, prepared to take on whatever demon has entered her room, only to find she is still asleep. She is thrashing around in her bed, kicking at the blankets, but she is definitely still asleep as her eyes are shut and she is non-responsive when you speak to her. I have got to be honest and admit the first couple of times it freaked me out a little. Now I just sit with her and rub her back a little until she is calm again, which is usually in about 30 seconds - it is a long 30 seconds though, especially when she also wakes up Usurper and we then have a crying baby and a crying toddler. She has also started insisting on not having her door shut at night - which is fine with Wife and me, except that it means that she sometimes stays up a little late. Like last night when I wandered past

      The Facts About Nightmares
We are all susceptible to encounter bad dreams which we know as nightmares at any point when we are sleeping. Some even wake up perspiring and worried that these things may mean something. But in reality, they occur normally at some point with no potential meaning. At times they result from some experience during the day or are sometimes associated with something we eat. Nightmares have different origins but usually, they do not pertain to anything unless people are highly superstitious about dreams and nightmares and what they may mean. Parenting anxieties trigger bizarre dreams in 3 out of 4 moms, study showsThe nightmares started right after Dominique Petit’s daughter was born. The first-time mom would dream that something horrible had happened to her baby and without ever waking she'd bolt upright and start searching for the infant.“I was dreaming she was lost in the sheets,” Petit, now 45, remembers. “Or that I had rolled on top of her and was squishing her. I would go through the movements of looking through the bedding to see where she was.”The dreams were so intense, disturbing and realistic that upon waking, Petit always needed to rush to her daughter’s room to make sure the infant was safe. “The fastest way to relieve the anxiety was to see her in her own crib,” she remembers.Petit’s husband, sleep researcher Tore Nielsen, was intrigued. He wondered whether other new mothers commonly experienced these kinds of nightmares and movements during sleep. A quick poll of family members who’d rece

WARNING!! This will give you nightmares!
Ok so not the MOST flattering picture of me, you can just say I have never been more real before.. LOL But please...Somebody help me, I got a OCD face licker on my hands!!!!!!!!!!!!I looked in the mirror today and swore I looked like a drag queen or something, no I didn't have crazy makeup or wacko hairdo's but just look manly. Now I am not the most feminine lady out there, but I do like my girly things occasionally. I have and most likely will always be a tomboy, its just me. It's how I grew up, and how I stayed. I love baggy pants, and men's t-shirts, I am like the butch version of some chunky sex kitten. That's how I would describe it anyways. LOL. I don't know what to call it, if it's armor or what, but I love to dress comfie snd baggie, I am way to insecure to wear something tight or showy unless I am having a damn good day or something. I like old t-shirts with holes and stains, with some weird sayings or some off the wall art on them. As a matter of fact right now I am we

      Naming nightmares
In an ideal world every time you search a database you want all the relevant records presented to you. Not just those that the system can be bothered finding, or a heap of others that are totally irrelevant. Achieving this state of precision is almost impossible and depends on many factors some are and some are not under the control of you the user. For instance the vagaries of the language. With wildlife the problems associated with vernacular names are well known. To give an example moon-daisy and ox-eye daisy are one and the same thing (pretty flowering weeds in wheat fields). Purple gallinule and pukeko are the same bird both are water rails which are marsh loving birds, the first is the North American name and the second is the New Zealand name. Talk about purple gallinule in NZ or pukeko in USA and you're likely be given blank looks. This nomenclatural problem is not limited to wildlife; one person's shovel is another person's spade.Spelling variants of course are another we

      Childhood nightmares
As a child I had a few recurring nightmares, you could say I was a child with issues, some would say I still have those issues but the nightmares have left me and I understand what they were all about nowadays, so maybe the issues aren't so big anymore. One of my nightmares I only just worked out the other day, it focused on the men in the following advert, I shall point out that in the 80's when this ad was being shown I was only young. The 'butter men' used to come and get me in my sleep, I would be fighting against the bedroom door, it would be my parents bedroom after I had run to them for help. Only they never helped, they sat there watching my distress but never helped. As I said a it only occurred to me few days ago that, that was how I saw my parents, forever watching but never helping. Of course they had no idea that I needed help or that I was in distress in real life let alone in my dream worlds.

I’ll have nightmares about giant wild hogs now.
Cindy sent me a link to this story: Alabama Boy Kills 1,051-Pound Monster Pig, Bigger Than ‘Hogzilla’ - dude. Did you see the pictures? A kid KAYLEY’S AGE chased that thing and shot it a bunch of times. What if it would have turned around and come after him? Why would you deliberately chase something like that? I’ve always heard (and granted, my education is straight out of the movie Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels) that you don’t want to ever lose your footing and fall into a pig pen while feeding pigs, because they’ll just eat ya, and not think twice about it. And Cindy mentioned that they caught another huge pig in a suburb of Atlanta last year. OMG!! Can you imagine being out on a walk with your kid in the stroller or walking the dog or whatever, and spotting a wild pig the size of a Subaru? I would die on the spot, I’m certain of it.

No Nightmares, Please - Why is so much children's poetry full of sadism and doom?
A nice piece by my new internet buddy.by Jeff Gordinier One day it dawns on you that your kid has watched too many episodes of Dora the Explorer. Every time the Dora character known as “Map” shows up on screen and sings, “I’m the Map I’m the Map I’m the Map I’m the Map,” you entertain private fantasies of dousing him in lighter fluid, torching him with a match, and giggling uncontrollably while he flails in agony. If a cartoon inspires this much raw hatred before you catch the train to work, it’s probably not a good idea for your kid to watch a ton of it.So maybe you want to expose your children to fine poetry instead. Which is great, except that you live in a country where some moron makes way more money than you do by writing lyrics like “I’m the Map I’m the Map I’m the Map I’m the Map,” so you’re sort of on your own. And when you come right down to it, reading poems to your adorable offspring is, like breastfeeding, much harder than you think. W

      Revisiting Workflow :: Storage Nightmares!!
The Storage Dilema! So, you've got your ultra-cool and new digital camera that shoots some umpteen megapixels. You've got your awesome digital workflow that creates deltas and non-destructive revisions, allowing you to make as many changes and edits you want. You've got this whiz bang 500GB storage system... that just ran out of space!? What? Hold the phone, 500GB filled up? How!? You've now encountered one of the fun aspects of digital asset management, storage. Look, at 6MP(megapixels), you've got a 10MB-18MB RAW file to work with. If you shot it with Jpeg, you have another 2-8MB of JPEG to go along with that RAW file. Worked with it in an editor and need to save settings? Another 1-8MB for the deltas. Got revisions and copies of the processed images, well, that's another 8-32MB of storage. After all's said and done, for each image you shot, worked on, exported, and saved... you have generated something on the order of 21MB - 66MB of storage. Y

Nightmares and Bedwetting: Children and Bedtime Issues
While there are many children that do not have any bedtime issues, there are many children who do. Not every child is able to go to bed at night, and get all of the required sleep they need. The following paragraphs will discuss children and bedtime issues, including bed wetting, nightmares, and inability to fall asleep at night. Bed Wetting and Children Bed wetting is one of the most common bedtime issues with children. Boys are most often bed wetters as opposed to girls. Studies have shown that boys wet the bed up to twice as much as girls do. Bed wetting can not only cause stress for your child, but very often it causes embarrassment, as well. You should consult with a doctor if your child's if: Your child is over the age of 7 and is still bed wetting. Your child is potty trained then all the sudden starts bed wetting. Your child tells you they need help. It is also a good idea to seek professional help if your child's bed wetting is affecting his ability to sleep. Nightm

      Enemy Strongholds and Nightmares
Dear Andrea,I have reoccurring nightmares about evil bullying or attacking me. Enough to scare me. I wake up trembling and anxious. I say my prayers. I believe my actions are are not one with the Lord and I am attracting evil into my life.Could this be true?–Monique Dear Monique, Most nightmares come from us working out the bad stuff in life that we don’t want to deal with while awake, but not all. If a nightmare clearly doesn’t relate to anything you’ve gone or are going through, that leaves two possible sources: the devil, yes, and God. The latter kind of nightmare is comparatively rare and usually prophetic/intercessory in nature. A, ah, holy nightmare will sometimes warn of the future, reveal happenings in the spiritual realm, or even something happening to a perfect stranger, but regardless amounts to a prayer prompter. Now, third, demons do attack in our sleep, and often in the form of a nightmare. This doesn’t necessarily mean we’ve done something wro

      Nightmares and Warfare
I hope you can help me figure out my dreams, in general I often dream of homes, being disrobed and not remembering how I got this way, fighting with my parents, whom I am estranged from, having heart attacks and a spotlight showing this and feeling embarrassed. Always being chased, someone trying to capture me and hurt me…always running away from something evil…thank you for any help and God bless you. –Tortured by Nightmares Dear Tortured, All quite common. Most of us have looked down in a dream and realized we were partially or completely naked in a dream at some point. It’s an expression of our fears of public exposure, of being seen for who we really are, of revealing parts of ourselves we wish to keep private, the heart attack dream seems to be along the same lines, only with pain/dying (nonphysically most likely) underscored. Houses represent ourselves (on all levels) and most dreams are about ourselves, so houses are likewise common. The various rooms, condi

      The Power of Nightmares
I first saw this when it was released for free on the Internet, and it really had an impact on me. I’m posting this here because it’s just as relevant now as it was then, maybe even more so. Both [the Islamists and Neoconservatives] were idealists who were born out of the failure of the liberal dream to build a better world. And both had a very similar explanation for what caused that failure. These two groups have changed the world, but not in the way that either intended. Together, they created today’’s nightmare vision of a secret, organized evil that threatens the world. A fantasy that politicians then found restored their power and authority in a disillusioned age. And those with the darkest fears became the most powerful. Episode 1 (Baby It’s Cold Outside): (more…)

      Nightmares and monsters
I wish I knew what is going on - the scales tell me this morning that I currently weigh 9st 12lbs, but I haven't been eating more than usual, and in fact yesterday I possibly ate slightly less. It was the office Christmas lunch yesterday so we went to a local Chinese for a buffet type lunch. Three course meal in the middle of the day is not usual, but then I had eaten less of a breakfast than I have done recently (actually I'm not sure I had anything to eat, I might just have had herbal tea) and I only nibbled in the evening because I was still full from lunch. Monday wasn't exactly excessive either. I haven't the faintest idea what's going on and I don't know what to do about it either. I can't really eat any less, I was feeling a bit peculiar by lunchtime yesterday as it was.If it sounds like I'm panicking a bit that's because I am. It took me ages to get down to below 10st and I don't want all that effort going to waste. Having finally looked like I was losing weight again

      Or Nightmares!
I have battled fires, captured criminals, fallen in love, lost love, found hope, won my riches, been shot & even died in my dreams. Yet none of them were as vivid or ominous as the night a burglar tried to enter my bedroom.I was fast asleep and awoke to the sound of louvres being meddled with in the vacant room behind mine. I crept out of bed and tiptoed in, it was dark, my heart was racing. I drew the curtain slightly and was immediately faced with the intruder, his face was hidden beneath a balaclava, his dark eyes fixed to mine. I gasped in fright and became rigid with fear. My breathing stopped, I couldn't speak. All I wanted to do was use a firm voice & let him know I was in control & that he would fail in his attempt to get inside. But no words came from my mouth, I was still unable to take a breath. For the longest time we just glared at one another. I felt horrendous evil all around me. I tried again to speak & once more, I failed.Panic had me cornered & I watched in horro
