Nexuiz is a 3d FPS deathmatch game project, created online by a team of developers called Alientrap.Nexuiz is based on the Darkplaces engine. The darkplaces engine is an advanced Quake1 engine developed mainly by Forest “LordHavoc” Hale, who has been working with the Quake1 engine for many years.A few of Darkplaces main features are Quake3bsp support, realtime lighting and shadowing, new particle effects, advanced menu system, and Md3/Md2 model support. Since then it has been downloaded over half a million times, and the game is still being updated and developed, currently at version 2.3 and new releases being developed.
My roommate, a loyal Linux devotee, told me about Nexuiz a couple weeks ago. Since then I’ve spent many an hour freely fragging people from all corners of the world.
Nexuiz is a completely open source project that’s been in development for over 5 years, and live for the past 2. It aims to return to the heart and soul of deathmatch fps with honed weapon balance and fast paced action reminiscent of Quake. But that’s not all! It also offers the ever popular CTF venue. And by popular, I mean frequented by a dozen people out the 50 that are ever online at any given time. Alas, it is unfortunate that there are only a handful of people that play Nexuiz regularly–surprising considering its availability and the number of servers that are online and ready to be filled with trigger-happy patrons.

Il team di Nexuiz ha, pochi giorni fa, reso ufficiale la release della nuova patch 2.2.3. Sono moltissime le nuove features e i bug risolti. Spiccano nel changelog le correzioni di alcuni problemi di sicurezza nel protocollo di rete.
Questa patch è rivolta principalmente ai servers. Potete scaricare l’ intero gioco o la sola patch sul sito ufficiale.

Nexuiz 2.2.3 has been released! You can download the patch or the complete game on the download page here. This patch addresses a security problem we have had, and a number of other bugs and new features.
The patch is not required for online play, but strongly recommended for all servers. A complete list of changes can be found here.

Dopo solo un paio di settimane, il team di Alientrap lancia una nuova versione del loro riuscitissimo FPS basato sul motore grafico di Quake 3: Nexuiz v2.2.2. Come potete vedere dal changelog sono tantissime le novità e bug risolti.
E’ disponibile il download per la versione completa aggiornata oppure un update dalla 2.2.1 alla 2.2.2.
Il team illustra anche quali sono i suoi futuri progetti che riguardano un sostanziale aggiornamento e ampliamento del map pack e poi anche un nuovo project dal nome Zymotic.
