I don't know if this will be a dream come true but I'm hoping to spend this New Year's Eve in Sydney for the spectacular fireworks. Out of curiosity, I went searching around the web for info and resources, read reviews and realized that this should be a decision I had to make fast. Apparently, many people from all over the world are already making bookings and plans to do the same and it seems like I may be a little late if I don't plan anything now. So, I may just book by faith and see how I can convince DH about the trip few months from now... this is in line with a Chinese proverb - Xian Zan Hou Zou - I'm not good at translation but it basically means 'Do it first, face the consequences later' :P

Every year, as January come around, most of us avail of the opportunity to review the year that has passed and make a list of resolutions to better ourselves in the one to come. While many of these centre on giving up cigarettes or joining a gym, it is equally an ideal time to review your investment strategies, see how they performed and make some new year investment resolutions. Here are six simple resolutions to help review the investing mistakes you may have made over the last year, and move forward in 2008. 1. Keep a rational, long-term approach. The new year provides a perfect time to look back on the performance of your portfolio and ensure that it has been adequate and remains aligned with your long-term goals. While it is an ideal time to reassess your goals, the first step in real
Ugadi marks the beginning of a new Hindu lunar calendar with a change in the moon’s orbit. It is a day when mantras are chanted and predictions made for the new year. Traditionally, the panchangasravanam or listening to the yearly calendar was done at the temples or at the Town square but with the onset [...]
I am so ecstatic that Beyonce and especially Tyra have finally went back to more natural and flattering hair colors.
It’s funny how the New Year will make you want to try new hair styles and take fashion risks. Keyshia Cole and Elise Neal set the perfect examples, they look so HOT! in their new hair [...]
If you're like many people, the beginning of a new year often inspires new resolutions that you hope to achieve in the forthcoming months. It's often easy to set goals with every intent on accomplishing them, but days can quickly turn into weeks and even months. All too often, we find that time passes without us having achieved the things that we first promised ourselves we would. One way to help remind yourself of your new year's resolution is to wear something that will keep it fresh on your mind and with you every day. Jewelry is a wonderful way to inspire yourself to accomplish the goals that you set, as it will serve as a daily reminder that's always in your sight. Does your new year's resolution involve a dream vacation that you've always wanted to take, or perhaps just a week at you
Ok, I may have missed out on posting this at a more appropriate time of the year but songs like this are too good to pass up no matter what the season. Forget for one moment that Wild Light are not the Flaming Lips (or the Arcade Fire for that matter) and you’ll be lapping up ‘New Year’s Eve’ with even more gusto. They are in fact a newish quartet from New Hampshire with only a self-titled EP to their name. Right about now they are touring with those jangly New York sorts Ambulance LTD but they have already performed all over the place with the aforementioned Montreal musical monolith. A good start you could say, unless you were Icelandic, in which case you would say agaetis byrjun. KDWild Light - New Year's EveMore Info: Official & MyspaceBuy Songs: Wild LightYear: 2007

As part of Scottish folklore, if the first person to enter your house during the New Year is a man with dark hair bearing a gift, you will be blessed with good luck. The ancient Egyptians celebrated the New Year at the time the Nile River flooded - near the end of September - which enabled the people to grow crops. The Celts called their New Year festival Samhain, meaning summer's end.To keep out evil spirits, some Japanese hang a rope of straw across the front of their house on New Year's Day.The people in northern India wear flowers on New Year's Day; a yellow flower, to them, is the color of spring. In ancient Egypt, New Year was celebrated with singing, dancing, and feasting for an entire month.A traditional polar bear swim event is held New Year's Eve in British Columbia, Canada; people

Divorce brings new fears, feelings and frets. As the new year approaches, don’t let it pass you by. New Year’s resolutions are famous this time of year, so why not focus on making the most of this time of year and choose a worthwhile resolution.

Unhappy that another New Year’s Eve has rolled around? Feel like there’s nothing to do? You aren’t alone. Millions of people are in that same boat with you. The good news is with half the adult population being single, you have plenty of company to help ring in a fun new year. Here’s a list [...]
Now that the onslaught of holiday gift-giving idea commercials have ceased — have you noticed all of the commercials for various diet programs — capitalizing on our need to declare our “diet resolutions”? The whole idea of diet resolutions “weighed on me” (and not merely about all of the carefree cookie consumption of December, either). [...]

I've decided that my lifestyle should be much healthier. So I'm going to run every day, just as soon as I've completed the school run. That's to say, Tuesday is going to be difficult. Because then Ot has his speech therapy. And now that I think about it, Wednesday is going to be a problem too, because Ot en Piet have the day off. Thursday is difficult too, because Maartje has a late start. Friday I just háve to finish my weekly column. Saturday is booked solid with grocery shopping and other mondain things. And on Sunday the good Lord wants everyone to rest. But Monday, is going to work! Definitely.Or not.
“Condiments are like old friends -- highly thought of, but often taken for granted.” Marilyn Kaytor STAR ANISE FLAVOURED SWISS ROLL with MARMALADE SAUCEI took some marmalade that I had made last month & spiced it up with star anise, cinnamon, ginger etc. Let it mature for a day...dreamt of a swiss roll last night & created my own dessert this morning. Very proud of this one because I thought it up in my mind, enjoyed the experience a lot & the roll came out looking quite nice. Tasted great too & is my entry for this month's THINK SPICE! With a new year now underway, it's time to shine and there's no better way to do so than with the help of beautiful jewelry. For 2008, trend watchers will see that shine is everywhere in terms of fashion accessories. From the purses that we carry to the clothes that we choose and even the shoes that we wear, the newest trend is all about shine from head to toe. With that being said, experts recommend wearing elements of shine that offer the perfect accent, as opposed to overpowering your entire ensemble. If you're in the mood to add some glimmer to your wardrobe, consider doing so with the beautiful and affordable option of cubic zirconia jewelry. Unlike a pair of rhinestone jeans or a purse, jewelry is one accessory that will never go out of style and, when done in a precious metal, may l
Yesterday at the Safeway Shopping Center in Kihei (South Maui), two giant dragons danced made their way from store to store amid the rhythmic pounding of drums, clanging gongs, and throngs of people feeding them money in little red envelopes. The dragons are considered auspicious and when you you give a dragon a donation, you're ensuring your good luck for the coming year.Every year we make this our custom. Enjoy the images below!
Chinese New Year Eve saw some packing of the house. Reunion dinner was as per normal. I was quite sick of the steamboat for it happened more than just once each year, and every time I had to feast on it for numerous continuous days.My plan to comb down the pasar malam at Chinatown for cheap goodies was killed once again. It was quite stupid to go down early and thus I did not join my family members earlier. I went down at 3am but unfortunately, met them at the junction. Both my brothers wanted to go home but my mum decided to tag on to me.I did not have much time and I would not want to waste any. I just wanted to speed up in all the crowded alleys and get whatever was cheap, in the shortest time. My pace was usually swift and far beyond your imagination, but this time, I knew I was ground
This year, CNY eve was a public holiday. Surprise? Well, just because it fell on the same day as Waitangi Day, a public holiday in New Zealand on February 6th each year to commemorate signing the treaty.Sis, Rong and I went to Willowbank Wildlife Reserve during noon. Since the entrance was free only on Waitangi, between 10am-3pm, the traffic was so congested! I started to wonder if we are visiting the wildlife, or the animals are watching at us human! Nevertheless, we saw 2 kiwibirds. That was the main purpose of the visit after all. :)Pineapple cookies, baked by sis of course!Back home, and prepared dishes for reunion dinner in the evening. Although ours was not the traditional-must-have such as abalone, fish, pork..., we had the modern style reunion dinner instead. Hehe. We had v

Today is the first day of the Year of mouse, and the weather is so cold in Hong Kong that has only 8°C. Maybe the readers of this blog are always facing such weather from time to time, or even colder, but to me, it's already freezing cold. If you have a good memory, you should remember that I was not in Hong Kong last Lunar New Year. Yes, I used the earning from Adsense and other monetization programs to subsidize my trip to Eastern Europe. I have been to Dresden and Berlin of Germany, Prague of Czech Republic and Vienna of Austria. You can refer to my post “Trip to Eastern Europe”.But this year, I need to stay in Hong Kong, not because I am not able to earn that much from Adsense, but due to the fact I need to work and only have four holidays. How poor I am. For the bright side, I ca
( ~ C-Special Feature )China has been a part of Philippines history...Even before the Spaniards reigned tyrannically; Japanese enslave, murdered and conquered; and Americans bought and falsely made everyone believe that they save the Philippines... there were the peaceful Chinese who traded with the early Filipinos. By their peaceful ways, the early Filipinos whole heartedly welcome the Chinese traders who later established a Chinese Community or "China Town" in Manila. The Chinese people found a new home and a place for business here in the Philippines. Through the long years of their stay here, interrelation and mixed of cultures was inevitable. Filipinos adopted their culture and beliefs and the Chinese also adopted our language and culture as well. Early Filipinos Bartered with the Ch

Hubby is off Wednesday through Friday for the holiday and we decided to go out for lunch today. We walked toward the Home Plus (like a Super Target) because there are a ton of restaurants in that area. As we were walking, we noticed all the small mom and pop restaurants were closed, which wasn't a good sign. The Japanese restaurant I wanted to go to was closed but we saw that Home Plus was open so we decided to eat in the food court there. The food court has a McDonald's, KFC, Korean, Japanese and Chinese food. The Korean, Japanese and Chinese food are plastic models of the entrees in display cases. You choose which number entree you want and proceed to a cashier. Pay and then sit in the food court area and watch for your number to appear in the Korean, Japanese or Chinese prep are

I think elianto is a fabulous counter beauty product because the price is reasonable and the quality is quite ok.This CNY i've decided to put on some nail colors. And i'm loving this dark color from Elianto n No.#32 called X Rose. Its dark bronze and shimmery. Only RM5!!! Cheap cheap.....well, if you have the time and talents, this will make a great base coat for some nail-art too. Just stick some blings and i'm sure it will look gorgeous. The other color here is called Milky Coffee No.# 12. I love the nude color of it, makes my nails look so gorgeous but not too striking. I like to apply this one on normal days...
With the hype that holidays usually bring, people always have the tendency to buy more and spend more without taking into account the consequences that their actions can bring.
Hence, it does not necessarily mean that because it is the holidays you have all the reason in this world to buy whatever you want and spend how much you want. Some people contend that it’s just once a year, so better
Before i strugle to pen down my feelings in words, i would like to wish everyone a happy new year. The year 2007 for me had been a turbulant and ineffective one, and of course, i only have myself to blame. With the coming of the new year, i had set several new goals and aims that i must achieve for myself. I had been retained and i will be restarting junior one level again. This humiliation will no doubt serve me well in future challenges. However, there is just so much for me to achieve and i am not sure if i will be able to do what i had been aiming for. As i am writing this blog, my heart is experiencing that wrenching feelings you have when you are lost, confused or sad. I had been thinking over how my year will go, and i will now laid down the five things i must achieve in the year 200

If you look around my webpage today you may notice something strange - a great deal of nothing! I removed my galleries, my information pages, even the archives for this blog. Much of it will be back in a different form, but right now I'm starting over.I am taking a different approach to my art, so my blog and website will reflect that.During the last few years I've been on a fantastic journey that began when I realized I didn't need to draw realistically to create art. I've played with mail art, explored techniques, and discovered my preferred media. I've exhibited work in juried shows, marketed my art, and sold a few pieces. But the road took a turn at the end of 2007. I decided I had other goals than making my art a profitable business. Then, my first
We all have goals in life. We have the wildest dreams in life that we wish would come true. But can all these be attained with only a snap of your finger? Of course not! We are not born magicians or fairies. We need to walk a certain pathway to reach that goal, and most importantly, the path we are taking should be right. This is where goal setting comes into the picture. Systematic goal setting is essential so that the risk of going the wrong directions would be lesser, and that your chances of attaining that goal are high. Here are the key essentials of setting your goal, regardless of what your goal in life is:v Create a positive avowal of your goal. You should tell yourself, ‘Make it happen and do it well’ rather than ‘Do not make any silly mistake’. This is something you should
This year’s Chinese New Year celebrations will have a very special significance for Omaré. February 7th, 2008 marks the beginning of the Year of the Rat - the first of the 12 animal signs that compose the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. It is said to be a year of hard work, activity, and renewal – an ideal time to begin a new job or major project. It looks as though the Year of the Rat is going to be a busy one for Omaré as they just announced the finalisation of an importation / distribution agreement with Beijing-based BestGuanXi Group concerning the commercialisation of Omaré products and skin care treatment programmes in the Chinese market. Preliminary administrative work on the project will get underway right after Chinese New Year. Coming only 2 months after the signature
Every New Year many of us resolve to make changes in our lives, to set new and important goals. We’re inspired by that annual turn of the calendar to wipe the slate clean and to write new scenarios for our lives. It’s a logical time for new beginnings, new hopes, and new directions in our [...]

Never have I spent so much of my hard earned money in a week.Throughout the week (19.01.2008 to 26.01.2008)...I coloured and treated my hair for SGD110.00 and bought...A simple brown wallet from the wallet shop (SGD23.40 after 10% discount).2 pairs of plain wooden chopsticks and a huge bowl from MUJI as my V'day present for Defector. (SGD24.70)2 (same monkey design different colour) T-shirts from Puremilk as Mike's super early Bday present, so that he can wear them on CNY. :) (SGD46.00)Some candies, biscuits and notebooks to "bribe" his little cousins and friend's children during CNY. So boy boy got me my first Baby-G watch (actually I had choosen and he had no choice b
Special dates are curious things. They certainly do act as psychological posts in the ground - arbitrary but nonetheless real. So there is nothing special about making resolutions on 1st January (as opposed to any other date) and yet there is something special. Two of my resolutions were to improve my meditation practice, and to write another book. The second resolution I've made 3 or 4 years past now, so it hard to take myself seriously. However my meditation has drifted along without any real effort to deepen it for a long time now. When I started meditating I really thought it was the doorway to another world. Many people seem to find it to be such. From time to time I've also found that. But most of the time it is just plain hard work which does not get any easier or show any res
So that’s it. Another year over. And what have you done? If you’re reading (or, indeed, writing) this, the chances are you’ll have spent most of it arguing with strangers on the internet about games you haven’t played yet. Just like last year, and the year before that, and the year before that. So in [...]
Happy New Year to all my readers. This is a short entry today to let you know what's going on. I've been looking at my content and decided that I need to change the style of the posts a little (quite possibly a lot). So very soon I will start posting the new style, if anyone would like to comment then please do so, all suggestions are welcome!Take care to all, I'm off to research!
Hey, everyone!!!Happy new year. I wish you all could say that was the best year of your life so far at the end of 2008. That`s what I said to myself after last year. Especially when during the last days enough snow fell out to start snowboarding!!!It was like a miracle to wake up one morning and find lots of snow outside. And also a sign to get snowboarding gloves and a case for the board. Me, my girl and a friend were expecting to go to Eglukalns (www.sventesegles.lv) in Latvia for a ride, but they weren`t opened yet. So we decided to go check a skiing hill in Anyksciai. It wasn`t bad at all except for the number of people. Then my dad got a donor kidney so he went to the hospital in Kaunas as soon as possible. I didn`t want my mom to celebrate new year alone so I went to visit her again w
Both Adidas and Nike have launched new national team kits for a bunch of teams they sponsor, but most prominently for the teams that’ll be seeing some action in Austria and Switzerland next year.Among some of the surprises, the Netherlands and Turkey will now have turquoise in their away strips, which I rate highly. Adidas on the other hand haven’t really pushed the creative barrier much and their new jerseys look very measured and traditional… which really means they look uninspiring and like they've been 'done before'. What ever the kit, colour or fit, Euro 2008 promises to be another great tournament for all teams involved and I sure as hell can't wait.In the meantime though, we'll just have to relive the greatest moments of Euro 2004:
Also a huge apology for my absence. First off, my computer is dead (despite the upgrade my husband did to it, yeah, it needs a new power supply so I have been without my computer for over a week now, and am using my daughter's which I rarely use, so I am rarely on the computer). Secondly, I am starting a NEW JOB in the same field (healthcare) here and I am very excited about it. Having to say goodbye to the people I have gotten to know over the past 3, almost 4 months is hard, but this is a positive move, a move up for me, better pay, better benefits, and a chance to move up in any position in this company down the road. I am very excited at the prospects.Other than that, I have been busy keeping up with my kiddo and her schooling stuff, and basically trying to rest more and not play as mu

Well, 2008 has arrived, along with the New Year's resolutions and the ever-present pundit predictions. Now that we're on the other side of the New Year, I thought I would share my thoughts on what I feel should be one...
We all know that 2007 was a challenging year in which to sell a home. But what about 2008? Can it be a better year?Absolutely. But first you have to know what buyers are looking for, and then you have to be willing to give it to them.Chicago isn’t unlike much of the country: Home sales were down last year. But remember, sales were down from historic highs. Homeowners still sold plenty of Chicago condos, single family homes and investment properties in 2007. Buyers were still out there looking for homes. This will be the case in 2008, too. It won’t be a record-setting year for home sales, in Chicago or across the nation. But it won’t be a dismal year, either. Plenty of buyers are out there. Plenty of home sales will take place.Sellers, though, need to realize that buyers are more patien
For New Year’s Eve we drove north to Lake Bled, Slovenia. The town had been so highly recommended by many people coming into our laundromat in Split that we decided we had to visit.
The 6 hour drive up the auto cesta from Split to Bled took us passed Rijeka and Ljubljana. The thick covering of [...]
This is the first entry I post this year! It was originally written on January 9. (You'll understand why it wasn't published until 1/17 at the end of this entry). I hope all of you enjoyed your holidays and are sticking to your New Year's Resolutions. The past year has been full of mishaps and unexpected expenses for me and the kids. Due to my incredibly full schedule, I'm always faced with
If luxury retailer prices aren't normally within your budget, this is a good time of year to take advantage deep discounts at top department stores. One of my favorite stores, Nordstrom is offering huge sales - up to 70% on women's, men's, and kid's clothing, accessories and shoes. Here's an outfit I put together online for nearly half off the original prices of each piece: This Lily Wrap Front Matte Jersey Dress is ideal for the office or special occasions so you're sure to get a lot of wear out of it. The style will work well for all seasons too. Right now it's $58, 33% off! Metallic pumps are a great way to add real punch to your wardrobe. The most basic look will explode with style if you slip on a shimmery pair
Reggie Bush gets Kim Kardashian Booty Move
Shaking in the New Year was one of our favorite booty shakers of 2007.
Wearing a long off the shoulder gown with push up bustier with vivid print pattern was Kim Kardashian.
Kim was booting in the New Year in South Beach at Mansion's Tanqueray and Ciroc New Year's Bash.
Kim Kardashian laid some great booty moves on her boyfriend Reggie Bush, the 22-year-old Heisman trophy winning football player.
Carrie Underwood in Times Square
As you may recall, Kim was catapulted into the celebrity lime light in 2007, after a sex tape made with her ex-boyfriend Ray J hit the Internet.
The publicity surrounding the tape, propelled her into the spot light and a reality show - "keeping up with the Kardashians".
Kim topped off 2007 with the December
Perhaps a bit late, and perhaps more for my own benefit than anyone else, this is what I want to achieve this year and I'm going to push hard for it!1. A gold medal for me (and my club of course!) in competition. Shameful, but Silver has always been the best I've managed. Watch out if you're in my weight category and keep your guard up!2. Up my training to 3 times a week as many weeks as I can so that I have a chance of...3. Moving up to Red Belt. This is going to be tough, but if it wasn't, it wouldn't be worth doing. Red tag needs attaining first of course, so time to get Taegeuk Yuk Jang "right".Happy new yearAndy
I love being tagged and now I have been by Leena of ConceptisAddict. This meme is a list of folks who decided to share their New Year’s Resolutions for 2008. I decided to jump on this link-love-train as I do have at least one important resolution to confess and it has a lot to do with Leena who tagged me in the first place! First, the meme:

Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Startwith a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, orlet down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let everyman gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest inthe things that were and are past.~Henry Ward BeecherI had a great new year with my peers. In the pictures are Charlie Catucod, Kenneth Van Leonor, Paul Magdaraog, Jonathan Castillo, and Me! more pics here.Have a good time!

Slack, slack, slack!!!First off, Happy New Year to the few readers that are left! I'm putting finishing touches to an end of year review summarising how I thought the year turned out and where I see myself going.Briefly, on a whole it's been a fantastic year and I couldn't of imagined a better year to my first year as a full time punter. Let's just hope things continue forward and a more productive year on the blog front.I've taken on a new business venture here in Dubai aswell, it's actually six months old and expanding at quite a rate of knots with contracts fixed for the next 5 years in numerous areas. For those that aren't aware of the huge expansion in Dubai, it is quite simply mind blowing. They are building so many projects that will announce to the world what Dubai is all about. I'
We were happy to be going back to Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Reserve for the first time since 97,580 hectares in an area on both sides of the Tahuayo River was added to the reserve.
Imagine celebrating the New Year in the Amazon rainforest with the monkeys protected by Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Reserve. We did not have fireworks or [...]
I have been enjoying my family time, for the last week or so, but I have also been in prayer to my Heavenly Father. I seem to have forgotten that my name is Beloved. That by claiming that name, I have a responsibility and an honor to uphold it. So in this New Year, I have been listening to one of my favorite artists. His name is Jon Shabaglian. He is a local artist, so unless you go to this site, and buy his CD, you're not likely to find it in any stores. Two of my favorites are "Have You Encountered" and "Wake Up" off his "Stay Near" CD. The first few verses of "Have You Encountered" are as follows: Hey bro, can I have your earI've got somethin' hereThat's heavy up inside of meI see you wanderin' aroundWithout much purposeso I'm wondering if you've everHad the priveledgeTo meet a s
It’s that wonderful time of the year when people around the world make their New Year’s resolutions – things they’ll do differently, bad habits they’ll quit, good habits they’ll start, and so on. Here are some New Year’s resolutions related to unified communications that I would like to see in the coming year.

People are reluctant to say "Merry Christmas" to me, an Italian - a pretty safe bet that I celebrate (or at some time celebrated) the holiday - but have no problem asking "What's your New Year's resolution?" It's equivalent to saying "Which problem of yours, and there are many, my dear friend, Michael, are you going to half-heartedly attempt to fix before giving up in futility like everyone else this year?"OK, I'm putting a lot of assumed offense-intended on my friends, which truly there isn't, but it does bring up a point. A resolution is required to resolve something (solve an issue, unravel a mystery, fix a problem). I don't like to make New Year's resolutions because I never really took them seriously and in the past I repeatedly set myself up for disappointment. Instead, a few years a
For all the excitement surrounding New Year’s Eve, it’s the one night of the year that perpetually falls short of expectation. It’s for this reason, that three years ago, on the eve of a most unsatisfying new year, I swore a blood oath never make plans till the day of this one night that links two years. Going into New Year’s sans expectation has since served me well, and I will continue this laissez faire tradition of waiting till the last possible moment to commit to anything on Dec. 31st. Given the life changes that occurred in 2007, I wasn’t entirely convinced that I wanted to see 2008, let alone greet it with anything other than apprehension. 2007 was an amazing year for a variety of reasons: I ended a long-term relationship, had some success writing professionally, fell in
