Frederick and I made it home safely late last night and are still processing all of the wonderful experiences we had in New York City. I’ll post a little about our trip tomorrow, but today we need to catch up with our online Bible study, Behind the Eyes by Lisa Whittle. Check out Lelia’s blog for more thoughts on this week’s chapter: Ms. Confidence.Hello, my friends! Today we are reflecting
There's an awful lot of kinds of exploitation out there. You got your blaxploitation, your sexploitation, your nazisploitation, your drugsploitation, but sometimes someone comes along and does something entirely new that carves it's own category. Tonight's film is one of those ground breakers that proves that less is indeed still less. That all it takes is a couple of brash young film makers to

Half the fun of the Internet (capital ‘I’ please) is discovering new things, but it’s rare that you see something new that really changes your perception of things. For me that happened when I came across the online bookstore Zoomii.com, which sells books via Amazon; think of it as a new front-end to the [...]
A different kind of American Gothic:
By JAMMAL SMITH, Guardian Business Desk -
Nassau, Bahamas:
New reports suggest an increasing number of American baby boomers are watching their life savings evaporate as the stock market and indeed the economy tank. It's a phenomenon that threatens to rob them of their dreams of a home in the sun and our second home market of their once-sizable investment po

One of the most revolutionary ideas in the history of Western thought was that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and has the right to express it. In America that right is embodied in the First Amendment. Americans are fond of telling a person they may disagree with them, but will fight to the death for their right to express it.This is a big part of what is meant by freedom. But, today in t

As a wife to a husband that works non-traditional hours and mother to three very busy and active kids, I had a 'full time job' to do and do well; so last year I resigned from my career 'outside' the home to stay home full time, run our busy household. When I did this I was also able to put more time towards somethings I did on the side to earn money and prizes such as online surveys, product re
The crossover SUV market has grown by leaps and bounds over the past couple of years. Along the way, a few vehicles have tipped the scales more toward car than SUV. The Infiniti EX35 comes to mind. Now, BMW is pushing the crossover idea further than ever by introducing the world's first crossover coupe. BMW calls it a Sports Activity Coupe. The 2008 BMW X6 is a high-riding, four-passenger, four-door coupe, a combination of sports car and SUV. The X6 is offered in two twin-turbocharged models, with inline-6 or V8 power. Both engines provide ample power for everyday use and even for towing. The V8 makes the X6 a hot rod, but we recommend the inline-6 because it has plenty of pep and is more fuel efficient. Shifter paddles on the steering wheel add to the sporty character of the X6.We found th
Percocet Addiction is a growing phenomenon. Although Percocet has not gotten the same focus as Oxycontin, it can be just as dangerous.

Imagine waking up one morning and realizing your prescription for Percocet has just run out, yet instead of feeling the typical relief in finishing a prescription-this time you want more. At first the cravings are subtle, yet make no mistake about it they are there, dragging you towards an addiction to Percocet. What is Percocet?Percocet is part of a larger group of prescription drugs known as opioids. These opioids are known as synthetic opiates, because they are originally derived from the poppy plant, which is the plant that all opiates originate from. Percocet is a combination of oxycodone and acetaminophen and although not as powerful as it's counterparts like Oxycontin, it is just as insidious. Opioids are usually used for pain relief, typically after an injury or operation, yet for a

Gift cards are quite popular. I often get dh an iTunes gift card as part of his birthday/anniversary/Christmas present. I received a B&N goft card from our friends for Christmas, dh got a best Buy gift card. Some people don’t like them. I LOVE them! They allow me to go shopping for something that perhaps I’ve wanted but either haven’t had the money for, or haven’t wanted to put my own money for simply because it wasn’t important enough.
This year, there is a different kind of gift card being offered for people. It’s a medical gift card, and it’s a hot commodity. According to this article:
This gift card can be used for doctors’ visits or deductibles, prescription co-pays, contact lenses and even elective surgery.
“It’s a first of its kind; no one has ever offered a gift card like this,” said Kim Bellard of givewell.com.
The card is issued by Visa, so it can be used anywhere Visa is accepted for health-related serv
What is different about this one?First, you get FREE MONTHLY INCOME JUST FOR SIGNING UP!You never have to buy anything, sell anything or recruit anyone! It sounds unrealistic at first, but the plan of how this is going to be accomplished is laid out for you right on the homepage.Basically, it is a profit share for a new service that will soon be launched. A portion of the profits from the service will be allocated to go to the pool of people that sign up to receive a share of it NOW!This is not one of those profit shares where you HAVE to be a paying member of the service to get a part of it. In fact, once the service is launched, people will NO LONGER be able to get onto the earnings pool list! So, as the service grows in popularity, the amount given to the pool will go UP but the number
Overweight or obese people who are stout around the waist and abdomen are particularly at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. The most effective way to reduce blood pressure and the risk for secondary diseases is to reduce weight. But most patients do not succeed in losing weight and keeping it off. A possible alternative could be an entirely new substance group which simultaneously blocks feelings of hunger and reduces blood lipid levels, thereby reducing the risk for cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes.
The new drug, called Rimonabant, has been tested in clinical trials for over two years in Europe and the USA. The European Director of the clinical trials, Professor Luc Van Gaal of the University Hospital in Antwerp, Belgium, presented results of this study at the 4th International Symposium on Obesity and Hypertension at the Max Delbrck Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) Berlin-Buch on Saturday, October 29, 2005. The meeting, which began on

I know this isn't my normal type of post, but it made me laugh and I wanted to share it.
A US mother-of-three has invented a sex toy that connects to a vacuum cleaner to give an orgasm in just ten seconds.
The gadget, called Vortex Vibrations, works by concentrating the air flow to create a rapid and gentle vibration, reports the Sun.
Inventor Joanne Drysdale claims it can give multiple, back-to-back orgasms lasting up to a minute a time - and it does not even touch the skin. The 49-year-old former toolmaker was cleaning her carpets when she came up with the idea for Vortex, which sells for £35 through lovehoney.co.uk.
She saw how a piece of rubber that had got caught in the nozzle was gently resonating in the air flow. She also felt a soft stimulation to her fingertips as she tried to remove the rubber.
"After several hours, I came up with the prototype. The first time I tried it I reached an orgasm within 10 seconds. That was when I knew I was on to something that could

Via Olive Green: Lisa Tilley reports on a new breed of “green speculator,” who are buying forest land in Galicia (Spain) to protect it from the encroaching concrete
A NEW breed of rural investors has purchased thirty two million square foot of O Ribeiro in Galicia, in order to preserve a forest there and allow for further reforestation.
For Pablo Oitabén it is a lifelong dream that began at Ridimoas, his father’s finca in O Ribeiro. As the woods surrounding the farm became ever threatened by encroaching urbanization, the teacher decided to facilitate some ‘development’ of his own. Hence he began the association Ridimoas, which allows people to buy a piece of threatened forest for as little as 10 euros (14 dollars).
When the project was first underway and the dream became reality, Oitabén hoped to expand the protected area by one hectare per year. However, exceeding all expectations, the project already has 300 hectares - purchased by a group of more than 1,000 “green inve

New kind of advertising! Chevrolet has come out with a new creative way of advertising its new car by allowing people to actually scratch it with a coin in order to find a symbol. The one who finds it will walk away with the car.
The material took 14 hours to scratch off, revealing thousands of panels with one showing a symbol to win the vehicle. The Chevrolet Captiva ‘Scratch Car-d’ was on display in London’s Covent Garden with 16,995 pennies for people to use to scratch all over the car.

The initial thrill of being accepted to my first-choice school is now over and I'm left with one emoation: fear.I used to be afraid that I wouldn't get into medical school...now I'm afraid because I have gotten in! I know that probably seems really silly to anyone who's not gone through this, but it's true. I'm terrified. We're selling our home in order to move 6 hours away to a major metropolis. We've owned our home since we got married and now we're moving and going to rent a high rise apartment. That's a big change! The thing that scares me is this: I know all of this change is because of me. My husband and I are selling the home that we love. We are leaving everyone we've ever known. My husband is leaving a great job with great benefits. We're uprooting our whole lives...and it's my fault. My fear is that we'll do all this, disrupt our entire lives, and then I'll get to medical school and not be smart enough. What a catastrophe that would be. I am terrified that I'm

The war on Terror is a new animal for the United States. Like the Giant Toad, it too, is non- indigenous. Both slipped into this country unexpectedly, both prey on native species, and both are highly toxic to predators. We should remember that as we hunt down terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan. President Bush has announced that the war on terror is a "new kind of war". The phrase falls nightly from the lips of newscasters. So often, in fact, it has lost its lustre. My question is: if it's a new kind of war, why are we fighting the same old battle?Past wars-animals we were familiar with-dictated invasions, large battles, the dismantling of enemy forces, toppling governments, and occupation. After the war was won, we would begin restoration. We are doing just that now. If the war on terror truly is a new kind of war, let us fight it as such. If a foreign country plans, or launches, an attack against us; or should they turn a blind eye as terrorists plan attacks from camps on their soil, o
