Sometimes I get emails and they literally make me lean back in my chair out of disbelief. Here's the complete story, the following is my easy-to-follow guide to... New Jersey, beachfill and taxes.Step 1. Practice non-sustainable coastal development practices. This gets you eroded beaches, poor water quality, etc.Step 2. Dredge sand from elsewhere to fill beaches. They call it a "beach nourishment" project... which in laymans terms is sucking up sand from somewhere to put it on a beach... where it will wash away in a few weeks or months. In this particular case, this portion cost $5,000,000.Step 3. Find munitions and ordinances and bombs in beach fill. How did these munitions and ordinances get in the sand? He was a perfect match for our family. I always have to know what the birds, flowers, plants and animals are that I see. Luis was a wealth of knowledge and we loved learning all he had to teach us about his wonderful country. Oh, and we all agreed that cave tubing with Luis was absolutely the best part of our entire trip.Unfortunately our next 3 days in San Pedro were not as good due to poor weather. The accommodations were ok and the staff at Monkey Business was very good about trying to rearrange our schedules in order to get on the one snorkeling trip we were able to take. New Jersey to adopt paid sick leave - is Ohio next?
While the Ohio Healthy Families Act stalls in the legislature, and Sick Days Ohio, the group lobbying for this bill, gathers signatures to place in on November's ballot, New Jersey will join California and Washington to become the 3rd state (plus the District of Columbia and San Francisco) to require paid sick leave for employees. The New Jersey plan, however, differs from Ohio's Healthy Families Act in three key regards: New Jersey's employees will partially fund their own paid leave through a payroll deduction. According to today's Philadelphia Inquirer, each worker will pay about $33 per year, while each is entitled to collect up to two-thirds of their salary, capped at $524 per week. Employers will be able to require their employees to use accrued vacation days and other paid time

The New Jersey Devils hockey team has traveled a long way from its humble origins to become one of the most popular ice hockey teams in the country. The New Jersey Devils Hockey Club, then called the Kansas Scouts, which was formed in 1974 as a result of the NHL expansions has seen a whole lot of ups and downs, name and ownership changes to last any decent hockey team more than two lifetimes. Due to an extremely dismal performance in the first two years of their inception, winning only 27 out of 160 games, the team moved to Colorado in 1976 with the aim of making a fresh start altogether and was re-christened the Colorado Rockies. However, while the team’s performance definitely improved in Colorado over what it was earlier, it was still nothing much to write home about. The final move

      New Jersey Abolishes Death Penalty
Looks like NJ Dems were able to push it through using a fiscal responsibility argument. From the WaPo:NEW YORK, Dec. 13 -- New Jersey lawmakers on Thursday became the first in the nation to abolish the death penalty since the Supreme Court restored it in 1976. Opponents of capital punishment hope the state's action may prompt a rethinking of the moral and practical implications of the practice in other states.New Jersey's Democratic-controlled General Assembly voted 44 to 36 on Thursday to repeal the death penalty and replace it with life in prison without parole. The action followed a similar vote by the state Senate on Monday. Gov. Jon S. Corzine, a Democrat and a death penalty opponent, has said he will sign the legislation....The U.S. Supreme Court has effectively declared a moratorium on executions since it decided to take up in this term the question of whether lethal injection constitutes cruel and unusual punishment. Three senators did not vote.Legislators on both sides of the debate said they expected the measure to pass easily on Thursday in the General Assembly, where Democrats hold 50 of the 80 seats.Gov. You become a part of their family for you stay. The staff are incredible, the food will put any five star restaurant to shame and the ambiance and rooms are wonderful. The excursions that are available through the Jungle Dome are incredible, adventurous and a once in a lifetime trip. I highly suggest visiting the ancient Mayan Ruin City of Caracol, the deep Mayan caves of Actun Tunicial Mucknal (ATM), The Black Hole Drop (Not for the faint of heart) and the many other wonderful day trips that they offer. Each trip has lunches included and transportation which makes the day trips stress free and easy to relax.I Highly recommend the Belize Jungle Dome if you are looking for a great adventure in a wonderf

Heroin Rehab Program in Florida Attracts New Jersey Residents
A heroin rehab program in Florida seems to have attracted a number of heroin addicts in New York and New Jersey to access drug addiction treatment there. When the residents from New York and New Jersey were asked why they chose to come to a Florida rehab program instead of a New York rehab program they stated the rehab programs seemed more comprehensive down here. They had everything from heroin detox to their own halfway houses. When the Jacksonville, Florida drug rehab was interviewed it was true. This particular drug addiction treatment program had a heroin detox program, inpatient rehab, day treatment, outpatient rehab and its own recovery apartments. In addition, it had a four day family program and a seperate LGBT treatment center. It is no wonder people from all over the country travel to Jacksonville, Florida for treatment. If you are looking for a Heroin drug rehab or heroin detox program, you can call 1-800-99-DETOX and someone will be available day or night to assist you. B

New Jersey Auto Insurance Quotes - Instant Online Rates
Here are three quick tips to help you save money on auto insurance: It’s smart to put your spouse as a named driver on your policy. Many insurance companies provide discounts when you add a spouse as a named driver as opposed to unmarried couples, as they see marriage as a sign of stability and give you a big discount. You can often expect to save around 15% on your premiums by doing this. Also, having an alarm system installed in your car will statistically save you an additional 5-10% on costs. Lower your annual mileage. Lowering your annual mileage will lower your premiums dramatically. Often, insurance companies will quote you for around 12,000 miles a year. Try and work out how many mile’s you will actually drive and if it’s likely to be less you may get another good discount. I would try to be honest about this as your insurance company may ask to see old MOT’S and service history to check your mileage. Spend the time and shop around. Know that all insura

Fun N' Games in New Jersey Closing Its Doors
After 33 years, the Fun N' Games at the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, Indiana is closing its doors for operation.Though it always pains me to report on a traditional arcade closing, the stake seems to be driven even further when the arcade in question happens to be the last traditional arcade in northern New Jersey. For all the strength that the amusement and arcade industry has seen over the last couple of years, the classic arcade is one of the casualties of an evolving entertainment sector. With Family Game Centers and Bar-cades becoming the norm, is there room in the US market for a traditional arcade?I believe so, but there is no denying that even the traditional arcade needs to see some changes in order to really succeed in the US industry.Details are scarce about the reasons for the closing. According to the Super Auctions website, Fun N' Games lost their lease with the mall earlier this year and decided to call it a career once the lease finally expired. In a way, it sounds

New Jersey Devils New NHL Arena: The Prudential Center aka The Rock
This is the first example in the history of corporate sponsored arenas that I can remember, in which the rights holder (the insurance giant Prudential) has attached their famous tag-line (in this case, “The Rock”) to the official name. Quite possibly it has been done before, but none could have been so appropriate and memorable as the one for the new home of the New Jersey Devils. Some good reviews of The Rock around the hockey blogosphere. Over at AOL Fan House, there’s a photo of a Devils’ logo that appears atop the flushing mechanism in the arena bogs. Not sure if it’s on top of a urinal or inside a stall. I would guess it’s inside a stall, as my memories of using the facilities at the old Winnipeg Arena are of long troughs with po-faced, drunken schlepps emptying their beer-filled bladders between periods. I’ve heard that the trough set-up is standard equipment in most other NHL barns. The logistics just wouldn’t be feasible for

Hi Nina!!!I got there around 7-ish and there were already a bunch of people waiting to see Nina. Barnes & Noble had set up four rows of chairs, however as 7:30 got closer they had to get more chairs, but there were still a fair number of people standing. She was running a little late, but I don't think anyone minded. In fact everyone was looking over to the side to see when she was coming. When she did arrive, she said hello to the people that were sitting on the aisle and began her presentation.Click here to continue.

We have our first field report from Nina's book-signing event. Thank you Sylvia and Stephanie. Hi all! Last night we attended Nina Garcia's book signing at the Barnes & Noble in Clifton, NJ. Let me say, Nina in person is stunning. She was immaculately attired in 6 inch heels, black slacks, a sequined black shirt, and a black blazer. Nina was very friendly, open, and answered everyone's questions. The questions ranged from whether or not it is okay to wear shells as necklaces along with shell earrings, to wearing white after Labor Day, to advice for high school and college students. I went there with my daughter, Stephanie, 9, and my husband. Stephanie wanted to ask how Nina began her journey but was shy about asking. I asked Nina for her advice for parents of someone who wants a career in fashion and design. Her answer included her past, her inspiration growing up, and recommendations as to what we should expose her to now. Of course there were the Project Runway question

New Jersey AG files complaint in foreclosure proceeds fraud allegations
In the following press release the New Jersey State Attorney General’s Office and the Division of Consumer Affairs have filed suit against a Gloucester County businessman who allegedly collected tens of thousands of dollars in surplus funds that homeowners otherwise would have received for a small fee after their homes were sold in foreclosure. The state’s two-count complaint against Samuel E. Goodwin, III is the first action filed under the state’s Consumer Fraud Act to address deceptive practices in the area of surplus funds recovery. Goodwin allegedly charged homeowners 15% to 65% of the total surplus funds to which they were legally entitled by misleading the homeowners into believing that the process to recover the funds was complicated and could not be filed by the homeowners on their own. Surplus funds are the monies remaining after the foreclosure sale takes place and mortgage, tax and other legal obligations have been paid. Homeowners in foreclosure can c

Call me old school, but jerseys without collars to flip up just doesn't work for me. Moreover the back just doesn't seem asethetic enough. Maybe with the names and numbers printed, it might actually look pleasing to the eye. In any case, I'm not adding any money into the Glazers' pockets. In other news, we've offically signed Owen Hargreaves.Nani and Anderson both signed 5-year deals. And we've made the Kuszczak loan deal a permanent one.
