Ordinarily this wouldn't even be worth writing about, because Bill Maher is marginal at best and no one really cares what he has to say, with the exception of a few of his liberal buddies. In fact, the majority of liberals don't even give Maher that much attention. This is why on October 3, 2008, when his documentary hits theaters, very few people will go and see it other than the usual r

According to Popdirt, a judge has ordered Britney Spears to pay Kevin Federline's lawyer fees. Previously, Kevin Federline's attorney (Mark Vincent Kaplan) requested that Spears pay Federline's lawyer fees, which totaled to $500,000. However, Britney's lawyers managed to get a judge to reduce the price to $375,000, citing that was too much money.
If you're a home owner facing foreclosure or thinking about negotiating a "short-sale" with your lender, Congress just made things a little easier for you. Congress just passed legislation called the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act (HR 3648), which opens up a three-year window during which homeowners who end up in foreclosure or negotiate a short-sale won't have to pay taxes on up to $2M of forgiven debt. The Mortgage Forgivness Debt Relief Act changes the current law, which states that home owners are to be taxed on forgiven debt.
President Bush is set to sign off on the bill shortly putting the bill into effect in the beginning of 2008.
If approved, the 911 Modernization and Public Safety Act (H.R. 3403), which is being introduced by Rep. Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.), would give VoIP companies and other news-related services a direct path to 911 service. They will be able to by pass cumbersome e911 requirements easily without going through incumbent CLECs. The current Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules only allow traditional telephone service carriers to connect directly with the 911 system backbone to avoid swamping the service during emergencies. So all the VoIP companies have to pay big boys to be able to access 911.COAT, The Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technology, also active in supporting this bill. "This bill just gives them the tools to actually provide 911 access," said Dana Lichtenberg, legislative director for Gordon. "They've been limping along" without these abilities. In 1999, Congress passed a similar right to cellular phone service carriers, giving them liability protection when handli

The Draft Human Tissue and Embryology Bill has now been published. Within it the Government propose to remove the requirement for doctors to have regard for the need of any child they assist in bringing into the world through assisted reproductive technology for a father (clause 21).
This proposal flies in the face of the wealth of research that demonstrates that a father is central to a child's welfare. This role is different but complementary to that of the mother. Children deprived of a father often experience psychological, social and community disadvantages. This proposal is all about the alleged "rightsâ
Hat tip to Texas Fred for the New Bill of Rights via email. ~RJH A New Bill Of Rights"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bed-wetters. New bill to give bloggers same shield law protection as journalists
By Jacqui Cheng
The House of Representatives has amended the Free Flow of Information Act of 2007 to include provisions to protect bloggers from being required to divulge their sources under certain situations in the same way as journalists. Instead of requiring journalists to be tied to a news organization, the bill now defines “journalism” to focus more on the function of the job: “the gathering, preparing, collecting, photographing, recording, writing, editing, reporting, or publishing of news or information that concerns local, national, or international events or other matters of public interest for dissemination to the public.”
Read the whole article! PLZ! Its very interesting and probably contains some info you could use in the near future.

Our Constitution and its Bill of Rights seems to have served us fairly well over the years, but even in the Declaration of Independence, we secured for ourselves the right (and even duty) to change our form of government should we ever see fit to do so.
This is the last place you will ever read a call for a revolution. I am more in the restoration camp and seek to return to a more traditional,
Reps. Anthony Weiner (D-New York) and Jeff Flake (R-Arizona), a long-time critic of pork and lame earmarks in Congress, introduced a bill yesterday that would improve oversight of the DHS grant process. Under the current system, money trickling down from DHS to the local level is not tracked centrally and often used inappropriately, [...]
Cooperative and Condominium Owner’s Bill of Rights Senate bill S.2386, by Senator Vincent Liebell (R-Brewster), would enact a bill of rights for owners of residential cooperative and condominium units. Among other things the bill would require cooperative and condominium boards to respond in writing to applications and other matters which require board approval. The bill would also require a board to provide the reasons for its decision. Co-op or condominium shareholders would also have the right to inspect their board of director minutes, as well as financial statements and inspector reports related to their building. Further details on all of the bills requirements can be found here.
