NetBeans IDE 6.1 has been released. I had posted that it was to be released on April 23rd, 2008, but it didn’t happen. The NetBeans site latter on updated its release road map for an April 28th release. Why wasn’t it released on April 23, 2008? The NetBeans release guidelines states that there must be at least one week between the last release candidate and the final release. NetBeans IDE 6.1 RC 2 was released on Arpil 21rd, 2008, so exactly a week after it they have released the final version.

No dia 3 de dezembro o NetBeans.org anunciou a disponibilização do NetBeans 6.0. Trata-se da mais recente versão de uma IDE leve e eficiente para desenvolvimento. Minhas páginas de Java e JSP utilizam o NetBeans para exemplificações.
Esta versão promete maior produtividade na geração de códigos. Foi implementado também suporte a Ruby, JRuby e Ruby on Rails e o Visual Game Designer foi aprimorado.
Farei a instalação assim que possível. Podem aguardar os novos tutoriais.
Acabamos de divulgar nossa página sobre JSP e NetBeans. Prosseguindo com o material sobre desenvolvimento em Java no Ubuntu, faremos agora um teste para gerar um aplicativo com interface web. Utilizaremos JSP e NetBeans, sobre o servidor Tomcat embutido no NetBeans.

IDEs have their own little world within our system (OS) and the more advanced they are, the harder it is to migrate them to a e.g. new computer with existing IDE (same one) but moving plugins , libraries ,etc proved to be far from easy.
Unfortunately i have learned the hard way.
I am using NetBeans 5.5 which is quite similar in it's setup to NB 5.0
Over the time i have installed many plugins and created many libraries for my development and ease of use.
FYI, Library manager is a neat tool to organize many JAR files (libraries) into groups and give them a name, e.g. Jfree would have many Jar files together with it so when you are developing, you can have a reference to all of these libs by using an alias (Group name).
I thought that copying the whole folder e.g. netbeans5.5 would be enough but it wasn't , even though modules are kept in it , the configuration files for modules didn't seem to be there.
Same goes for Library Manager
Everything is kept in your $HOME

Milestone 5 of NetBeans 6.0 (Dev) is now available for download.The biggest change in M5 is Java editor improvements and new Java language infrastructure that is based on the Javac. The APIs will give you full access to the Javac APIs for given source. Additionally, NetBeans 6.0 M5 contains the following improvements: Ant processes have a progress indicator in the status line. A new "project group" feature has been added. Due to the integration of the new Java language infrastructure, most of Java EE development features are disable in Milestone 5 and also Mobility and Profiler packs aren't released as part of this milestone.
