Port Elizabeth - In a bid to meet the deadline for completing the construction of the Nelson Mandela Bay Multipurpose Stadium, the municipality will appoint a professional stadium operator.
The stadium is one of the five host venues for both the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The Mandela Bay Development Agency was appointed by the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality to oversee the Request for Proposal process.

Who knew? Apparently Nelson Mandela was a terrorist. Thank God it only takes 48 years for us to change our minds. I guess South Africa's apartheid-loving National Party (hmm…maybe the name should've given us pause) wasn't such a great ally after all.

I just found this article interesting. It was published in the Pretoria News, the main newspaper of the executive capitol of South Africa. It’s entitled, “Moves to modify Madiba magic ‘myth’” by Melanie Peters. (BTW: Madiba is an honorary elder statesman title associated with Mandela.)
