Holy Mega Screwups Batman! Neither we nor they all look the same...
Update: May 14, 2008 @ 4:55pmYou know I knew I should have sat on this one for a bit as I did read about it and blog it when I was exhausted in the wee hours of the morning. It did occur to me that what if poor Alexis wrote it, turned it in and then someone else screwed it up? Without getting into details, let me say, that's already happened to me and I'm fairly new to this whole game.Eh, I won't

      Neither Duality nor Trinity
No Duality The Essence of divinity is found in every single thing - nothing but it exists. Since it causes every thing to be, no thing can live by anything else. It enlivens them; its existence exists in each existent.Do not attribute duality to God. Let God be solely God. If you suppose that Ein Sof emanates until a certain point, and that from that point on is outside of it, you have dualized. God forbid! Realize, rather, that Ein Sof exisits in each existent. Do not say, "This is a stone and not God." God forbid! Rather, all existence is God, and the stone is a thing pervaded by divinity. There is nothing that is not pervaded by the power of divinity. If there were, Ein Sof would be limited, subject to duality, God forbid! Rather, God is everything that exists, though everything that ex

Its McCain vs. Obama, but Neither is Carbon Neutral
A few months ago, I published a post where I assumed Obama had won the Democratic nomination and I was going to begin focusing on his environmental record versus McCain's. Of course, looking back, I was prematurely ending Hillary's campaign. With last night's election results in North Carolina and Indiana, it looks increasingly like the Democratic primary has actually reached its end. I'm not

They’re posting videos of live performances and blogging about the experience on their Web site, and as always, streaming live on the Internet. Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy And Neither Is The Riemann Hypothesis
It’s not easy being a disjointed imperfect anti-hero in the absurd bizarro universe of raising children. That alternate reality of never-ending happiness where children utter sentences like, “Daddy, in gym class today we played Oscar the Grouch and I got to be Oscar the Grouch with Maddie and everyone was throwing their balls in our can and we had to grab the balls and throw them out because Oscar doesn’t want balls in his can.” and tender simple requests like, “Daddy can you play Beaver with me?” before running into the living room chanting, “Beaver…Beaver…Beaver…” Where toddlers regularly fire hose the contents of their recently consumed bottle plus 1.5 oz. of antibiotics on the angora sweaters of their mothers and the finely sculpted trapezius muscles of their fathers. Neither One of Us Could Have Held On
Wednesday, December 19 (continued)* Was I afraid the boy might afflict me the same as Carlos’s lizardy maneuvers? How stupid. No, I couldn’t have supposed that. Carlos is Carlos and no one else could possible do to me what I let him do: manipulate me until I curled into his own soft mound of modeling clay. Had Colin lived would he have affected me as much? Would I have manipulated him?  Tyler reminded me of how eager and energetic we once were. I saw him as the soul of concern, of sweetness, light, peace, joy and hope. When, of course, that’s in everyone. There to be tapped or shining out right. We waste and exhaust it, and sometimes, even manage to replenish it.If Colin miraculously appeared, unchanged from the moment we headed for the roof, would I know him? I miss him and mourn him.  But there was nothing I could do.  I didn’t know, and couldn’t know. A chill courses through me, a rippling, feathery effect.  There’s no voice or vision. Nothing certa

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow...
It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  ...at least here in MN.  Today we got about 8 inches of snow, and it is still falling!  My favorite time in the winter is when it is snowing at night.  The whole sky is lit up with light reflecting off every flake, and there is a quiet peacefulness in the air.  It is like your sitting in the middle of a snow globe. But I digress, this new white addition always adds a challenge when staging or de-staging properties (I have two alone this month). Between the snow in the winter and the rain and heat in the summer (yes, it does get hot in MN), staging and de-staging properties are always an adventure! The life of a stager isn't all glamorous with me stomping around in my Sorels sporting some fine Minnesotan hat hair!     Please, someone from Florida send a picture of a palm tree!

Continuing to keep it lively this week!Trumpeter Longineu Parsons is an artist who was raised from a state of obscurity to a state of new and improved semi-obscurity by Ubiquity Records' fine re-issue label Luv 'n' Haight. But hey, I'm sure he'll take it. This record is a career retrospective for someone you didn't even know had a career, so it's that much cooler when the person is actually quite good and can finally get some props. Jazz, Funk and African influences combine into what we like to call "good shit" around here. This tune here is a bit of a ramshackle affair, what with all the percussion bangin' & clatterin', but it will certainly make you get up and shake it...Longineu Parsons - Funkin' Around (ysi)It seems that his son (grandson maybe even?) plays drums for the crappy alt-rock band Yellowcard, but we'll try not to hold that against him.... friggin' kids these days... :P

      Fer-de-lance or cottonmouth? Neither!
I awoke to a snake video on my computer screen one morning. I've spent so much time trying to identify (and save!) the snakes that we've found on our property, that I'm actually starting to recognize some of them. I thought I knew what this snake was. My heart was pounding as I asked El Jefe what they did with the snake. Yup. Because of my insistence that snakes have a right to live and serve a valuable purpose in the balance of nature, they threw it over the muro (fence) into the jungle area. I thought this snake was a fer-de-lance, Terciopelo Bothrops asper, known in Spanish as Barba Amarilla. It is one of the most deadly snakes there is. Great, now they start listening to me! Returning to my long list of snake websites to confirm my suspicion, I found that this snake didn't look quite right − almost the same, but not quite. Looking further, I found these photos of a baby cottonmouth which also looked similar. Snake markings and coloring can look different at different

As such, I won't be around much this weekend. Neither side should be helped here
Wizbang talks about the ongoing clash between Hamas and Fatah, and makes a point about how neither side is any better than the other: First up, Hamas needs to be isolated. Israel and Egypt are already taking steps towards sealing off the Gaza Strip, to keep the violence bottled up. But we should not be eager to back Fatah. For one, their own survival is still in doubt. For another, their own history -- as part of the Palestinian Liberation Organization -- is one marked with drug dealing, terrorism, and death.I think this is an excellent opportunity to step back and let events unfold on their own for a bit. Let Hamas stew in their own fetid juices in Gaza for a while, and let the West Bank shake itself out for a bit. Right now the terrorists are, for the most part, killing other terrorists, and I don't see any great moral imperative to interrupt them.We certainly shouldn't take the side of either ghoulish movement. Fatah is just as evil as Hamas, and should be recognized as such. I th

The Worst: Discuss Amongst Yourselves - The Great American Ballpark Is Neither Great Nor, In Actuality, A Ballpark
Hello, friends. This is Ted back again with more of this weekend's poorly constructed "Weekend Special," whereby we discuss baseball teams that are already wholly irrelevant in some context. Right now: Cincinnati, the opponent this weekend of our first entry, the Rangers. However, we're changing the format. Rather than listing former players - Jose Rijo! - we're going personal essay style. Cincinnati has an odd place in my heart for a place I've never been, and God willing I'll never go. I saw Traffic, which paints Cincinnati in about as negative a light as one film can paint a city, and the movie influenced me so much that a few days after seeing it, when I happened to be getting arrested for underage purchase of alcohol, I screamed at the job, "Don't bust me! I'll just do it again! Bust the store! This is a supply side issue! Didn't you see Traffic?" Bush or Clinton better economic manager? Neither, it’s the Gipper.
According to an article by Bill Sammon in the Examiner, the White House claims the economic growth during much of the Bush administration is stronger than the one that occurred on Clinton’s watch. While both have their successes and failures, Sammon concludes that it is actually Ronald Reagan that we have to thank for our prosperity. Sammon includes a quote from Economist Larry Kudlow: “Since the early Reagan years, we have had 25 years of virtually uninterrupted prosperity.” “Because of the Reagan reforms - the deregulation, the lower taxes, the disinflation - we have transformed the economy from a top-down, government-run operation into a free market, capitalist economy with durability and resilience.” In all, Kudlow credits Reagan’s economic reforms for the growth in Gross Domestic Product for a whopping 93 of the last 98 quarters. One of many examples where the Gipper won one for us. Figures included in the article comparing Bush with Clinton: Fro

Pure Clarity, Neither Salty Nor Sweet
כ"ז באדר תשס"זJust a quick observation about two shorashim: מלח and מלץמלח is the Hebrew root for "salt". Salt pertains to Gevurah and bitterness.מלץ is the Hebrew root for "being sweet and pleasant". Sweetness and pleasantness pertain to Chesed.Interestingly, the two shorashim are very similar, sharing the first two root letters (מל) and differing only with respect to the third root letter. The two differing letters cut from the shorashim together spell "clear" and "pure", in Hebrew צח.Consequently, in terms of sacred femininity, we can see that pure clarity is not made of "sweet pleasantness" any more than it is made of "bitterness". Pure clarity is brought about by neutralizing and overcoming the obscuring effects of both circumstances and psycho-emotional dispositions.Technorati tags: Torah Talmud Torah Judaism Kabbalah jewish mysticism mysticism jewish meditation meditation shamanism jewish shamanism kabbalah iyunit kabbalah maasit jewitchery jewitch jewi

There's a saying that roughly goes "Most suicides are committed with a knife - and a fork." This may well have to be changed, because now it seems we're softly killing ourselves without any cutlery at all. The Guardian has a bone chilling gut, wrenching special report on fast food and how the fast food business have succeeded to change our eating habits, generating huge profits for themselves and obesity and diabetes for the rest of us. One of the series of articles present an extract from Eric Schlosser's explosive new book; Chew on This, where he picks up where he left us after his first book, Fast Food Nation. In the new book, Schlosser again looks at the fast food industry - how it all began, its success, what fast food actually is, what goes on in the slaughterhouses, meatpacking factories and flavor labs, global advertising, merchandising in UK schools, mass production and the exploitation of young workers in the thousands of fast-food outlets throughout the world. Pen that needs neither ink, nor lead.
A pen that writes without ink? Sure... at first we thought this was a leg-puller and that they simply meant an ordinary pencil. You know, no ink? But after a bit closer scrutiny, it appears they are serious. The pen itself is ordinary steel, but the actual business end; the nib or point, is some alloy that actually leaves metal residue on the paper. It looks a bit like pencil writing, but it cannot be erased. The big thing, besides the obvious "wow" factor would be that it will not run out of ink or dry up on you. And that it is likely to last pretty much forever. Available from Grand Illusions where it is GBP 15:- (approx. USD 30:-).

Neither Jagger nor clothes miss a beat
Like his voice, Mick Jagger's wardrobe is still rocking after all these years. His sexagenarian frame has not missed a beat when it comes to fashion. Whether it's tight shirts or jeans, Jagger never fails to impress audiences with his style. "It doesn't matter if you're starting out or you're doing it for years," Jagger told The New York Times. "There's no point in having a huge dress-up if you're playing a 500-seat club. And if you're playing for 50,000 people, there's no point in wearing rags." Over the decades, Jagger has donned jeans and jackets by the Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere and T-shirts by the Dior designer Hedi Slimane. But that was not always the case, said Jagger, 63. Like many bands just starting out, clothes were a luxury he and his mates couldn't afford. "We wore clothes very similar to what we wore offstage because we didn't have any money and that was the look," Jagger said. Rolling Stones Lyrics

Neither Clinton nor Obama is ideal - Thomasson
Dan Thomasson's syndicated column - here seen in last Thursday's Evansville Courier Press (unusual brown colour scheme - quite nice, I think) suggests that the two people dominating discussion of Democratic presidential hopefuls each have serious flaws. "Clinton carries with her a negative factor that is disturbingly strong," Thomasson observes, correctly. "Obama is hurt by a presumption that he is just another in a long line of hopefuls who think they're ready to run the country five minutes after winning election to the Senate," Thomasson adds. Also true, although, interestingly, whilst there are clearly expressed concerns about Obama's political inexperience, I don't sense that this has yet translated into a perception of arrogance. Thomasson main argument, however, is that "a definite residue of anti-black and anti-woman bias tragically still impacts the American election process," which would hamper any Clinton, Obama, or for that matter Condi Rice, candidacy. Our middle class has suffered in silence for far too long, and it cannot afford to suffer or be silent much longer. Hardworking Americans have not spoken out about their increasingly marginalized role in this society, and as a consequence they've all but lost their voice.   Without that strong, clear and vibrant voice, all the major decisions about America and our future will be made by the elites of government, big business and the dominant special interests. Those elites treasure your silence, as it enables them to claim America's future for their own. I'm stupid enough to be absolutely sincere in the hope that middle- class America will awake soon and take action.   "It is dangerous to be sincere unless you are also stupid."
