      National Day of Prayer
Did you know that today is the National Day of Prayer?  I love the idea of having a day set aside for prayer, but it would be even better if I could make it a bigger part of each and every day!  I... Click on over to the site to read the rest of the post!

      National Day of Prayer
I'm not much into politics. In fact, they pretty much make me crazy. The mean spirited divisiveness is tragic. In a time in which we need to be united, we are divided. How I wish it were not so.In the midst of this volatile political season, today is the National Day of Prayer. It's my hope that you make each day a day of prayer. There is nothing better than walking in constant communion with God, and maintaining an open dialog of prayer through out the day (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). I am encouraged though by the call for all in America to come together and pray. Will you pray?

      National Day of Prayer
Tomorrow, May 1st, is being promoted by Christians as the National Day of Prayer. So they all get together and pray for... what? It's hard to believe that nobody has ever prayed to end the war or feed all of the starving children or end poverty or rid the world of all suffering, etc. And if they have (and they surely have) and we still have all of these things (and we certainly do), then how the hell can they still believe prayer works? It's the same old thing. The Bible-God just can't lose! If Christians pray for something and they get it, they thank him for answering their prayers. And if the thing they prayed for doesn't happen, they excuse him with something like, "It wasn't God's will" or "God has his reasons." (I wonder what his reasons could be for allowing innocent children to suffe

National Day of Reason May 1
May 1, 2008, is the National Day of Reason. It is a good day for nonbelievers to celebrate our membership in the reality-based community. However, the day is really about reaching out to others through active involvement in one's community. That is, actually doing something to make a difference.According to a press release from Atheist Alliance International:The mission and purpose of the National Day of Reason is to inspire the secular community to be visible and actively involved in community projects. Atheists make a point of showing how only human endeavors can help improve the lives of fellow citizens, not only on the National Day of Reason but each and every day. Atheists' actions echo the 19th Century Great Agnostic, Robert Ingersoll, in his famous quote, "Hands that help are better

      Arafat and National Day
Today is both Arafat day and Qatar's National day.The name Arafat is taken from the mountain of Arafat in Saudi Arabia. It's an important day for Muslims, as this is the day when Mohammed gave his farewell sermon the last year of his life. Many Muslims in Qatar will be fasting, although unlike Ramadan the fasting is recommended rather than obligatory.Muslim on the Hajj in Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, will spend the whole day on the plan of Arafat, praying for God's forgiveness.Meanwhile, Qatar is celebrating, for the first time, its national day, which celebrates the accession of Sheikh Abdullah Jassim Al Thani in 1878.Sheikh Jassim's father was still alive when he handed over power to his son, although he wasn't very happy when his son invited the Ottoman's into the country. However, Sheikh Jassim made up for it later by defeating the Ottoman's in battle. (See the Rise of the Qatar Ruling Family for more details.)Tomorrow is another even more important day, for it is the start of Ei

      National Day of Mourning
I know that last year when I wrote on this topic, some found it depressing. Here are two reasons I will be highlighting some words of Native People’s this week. Thanksgiving is more or less the only time of year that any attention on a national level is given to the history of this country as it involves Native People. It is the one day that many are evening considering that there where people on this land when the pilgrim’s arrived, and it is one opportunity to prick a hole in the pretty packaged history we’ve created for ourselves. As a Christian, I am compelled more and more that Jesus pointed to the poor, the oppressed, the downtrodden and outcast as the true leaders of his kingdom, the ones who receive blessing, the ones to whom the kingdom belongs. In an effort to follow Christ, I want to give opportunity to silence my voice, and lift up others The National Day of Mourning takes place on the same day we celebrate Thanksgiving. It is a protest by Native People

The National Day holiday is both an occasion for celebrating the birth of the country and a time for people to travel. However, crowds of people have always tend to push up hotel prices. During this year's golden week, as far as hotel prices are concerned, will there be any relief for weary travelers? The week long National holiday starts next Monday. It's a golden chance for Chinese to spend and a week for hotels, and retailers to receive. Last year, 150 million people travelled during the National Day holiday. Zhang Wei works for online travel service Ctrip.com. He says hotels in some popular tourists city such as Sanya, Hangzhou, Guilin, and Xiamen will raise their rates during the upcoming Golden Week. 42nd National Day: City of Possibilities
On National Day's eve, Yong Sheng held his birthday chalet at Aranda Country Club. I believe it's my first visit to the club. The executive suite was spacious and comfortable. Spent the night and the early wee hours of National day until 5am.At 6.45am, I was already dressed in my "Eurasian" outfit, doing rehearsals for the National Day Observance Ceremony at Petal Garden. 4 of us from Eunos YEC would be reciting the pledge to the residents of Eunos. After the pledge, representatives from the 10 major religions in Singapore came forward to pray for harmony and prosperity for our nation. After the ceremony, I rushed home to catch some sleep... Zzzz...At 1pm, my family and I headed to Intercontinental Hotel near Bugis Junction. We checked in to the hotel shortly after arriving at the hotel. The room was awesome. As we would be staying there in September again, I didn't utilise the camera. So I slept all the way till the commencement of the NDP on tv.Managed to feel some vibration through

After blending it, I added the effect Cutout and... *Ta da* I'm DONE! To download wallpaper: 1. Click on the dimension of the wallpaper you want. 2. National Day Pledge Joke
The Singapore National Pledge is an oath of allegiance to Singapore. It is commonly recited by Singaporeans in unison at public events, especially in schools, in the Singapore Armed Forces and during the National Day Parade. The National Pledge was written by Sinnathamby Rajaratnam in 1966 shortly after Singapore’s independence. Mr Rajaratnam revealed that the dream [...]

I just read this from Wendy's blog.I will post more about it here but I justwant to put up this button for everyone to know about it. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Gamethread 3/27: Cubs vs Royals: A National Day of Mourning
Rich Hill takes the mound today, but that isn't why we are in a national day of mourning.  We would be in a day of mourning due to the annual placing Wood on the DL roster move that was announced last night.  Every year we go into camp expecting a clean bill of health, and every year he ends up letting us down. It's like that movie Final Destination: we see it happening before it happens, and everyone knows it's going to happen, but when it comes down to stopping it from happening there's not a thing anyone can do about it. It seems like every time we get a good arm, he ends up getting injured shortly thereafter.  Maybe there is a such thing as a curse; then again, maybe the Cubs just have a flawed team philosophy on how to handle their young arms.  Either or..
