      Nanjing Dong Lu, Shanghai
上海南京路Nanjing Dong Lu is a slightly tacky boulevard that runs from People's Park to the Bund. In the area near the Central Henan Road metro station it is a pedestrian mall, which is a relief from having to cross Shanghai streets. The street's most famous landmark is Victor Sassoon's Peace Hotel, which is almost to the Bund and currently undergoing renovations.Other establishments are not nearly as elegant. More typical is the store pictured bottom left. You can get trinkets and cheap gifts for those back home.A better shopping option is the large Shanghai #1 Department Store, which is catty-corner to People's Park.A more interesting shopping option is nearby Fuzhou Road, which has small boutiques. Then , there is the Bund itself for high-end goods.AccessIf you are on the Bund, Nanji

      NANJING ROAD
After lunch we were given time to mosey through the stores on Nanjing Road. In the early century Nanjing Road in Shanghai was the first commercial road. And now, it's a shopper's paradise known as the "Oriental Paris". This extensive commercial shopping district has loads of modern shopping malls, specialty stores, theatres and international hotels lining up the streets. This place is often

Journey of the "Nan"s: Back home to Nanjing!
At Fuzimiao in Nanjing.Don't get it twisted, I've been gone for a bit, but MoJo In China ain't over. It always takes me some time to find some inspiration and news from this huge country worthy of throwing up on this blog. Today, we're in for a treat. I've gone over a few of the "Nan" states, as I like to call them... Now it's time to take a tour through the most popular Nan of them all. My former home, Nanjing.I decided to take my wife Zoe on a trip to Nanjing for a weekend. It was her first time there and I wanted to give her a pretty memorable time there. I think I planned the trip pretty well and we went to some of the city's hotspots.1. The Presidential Palace aka Dr. Sun Yat Sen's Mausoleum - Sun Yat Sen's home and office. Real big place with a lot of 20-30's office style buildings, a nice little creek nearby and it's all in the heart of Nanjing. Man, I want to be president...Salute! FDI and Investment Zones: Part VI - Nanjing
For the last several years Nanjing followed Shanghai more closely than any of the other surrounding cities. While not experiencing the same level of growth and capital appreciation, Nanjing has definitely benefited by its proximity to Shanghai. International and Chinese developers alike have properties in Nanjing (see the first map in the Appendix). It is not only foreign companies that are moving to the city. With the lower prices of land and labor, many local companies and developers are moving to Nanjing Nanjing High- and New- Technology Industrial Development Zone Founded by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and Nanjing Municipal People’s Government, this zone was ratified as a national new- and high-tech industry development zone by the State Council on March 6, 1991. Here organizations specialize in electronics & information, bioengineering & pharmaceuticals, and aeronautics & astronautics. To date the zone has attracted over 1000 compa

NANjing, NANning and now there's a NANchang too?
Is this guy looking to get shot??? (In Nanchang, Jiangxi Province)Well, it wasn't like the city was just recently, but there are a lot of "Nan" (South) prefixed cities in China. I guess it's like "New" in the states. (New York, New Jersey, New Mexico. So I just spent a day in Nanchang for a show at "Le Nest" with DJ DSK and Drummer extraordinaire, Sam Debell. (aka Mind Disorder or Unity Productions) Yes, the show was awesome and Nanchang people are great. Although I was only there for a day, quite a few things there caught my attention:1. The Weather - It's is HOT! Way hotter than Shanghai and more dry.2. The Local Artists - There's a small hip-hop community in Nanchang, but it's tight. I met a beatboxer called "Popper" (Sorry bboys, he does not pop... or lock, just beatbox.) He's got a crew with an MC and a producer/DJ. I wish them all the best of luck over there.3. The National Army Pride - This city has tons of statues, museums and square

      Politics of Nanjing
The Politics of Nanjing The Politics of Nanjing: An Impartial Investigationby Kitamura Minorutranslated by Hal GoldUniversity Press of AmericaISBN 0-7618-3579-2173 ppMore than 60 years after the fact, the events surrounding the fall of Nanjing to the Japanese Army in 1937 remain clouded in hyperbole and rhetoric. The continuing denial of the "massacre" by the Japanese government continues to fuel tensions between Japan and China, and so it was with some hope of discovering some new facts that I began to read Professor Kitamura's "impartial" investigation. By the second chapter however, it became blatantly clear that this book's claim to impartiality is invalid.Kitamura has gone through an enormous amount of materials and records with a fine toothcomb and collected together many discrepancies and facts that support his thesis that the massacre is a masterpiece of Chinese propaganda. To further his agenda he fills in gaps in the historical record with opinions that have no basis in fac

MG7 Coupe Go Production by Nanjing Auto
Abstract: Nanjing Auto corp. is considering the production of the MG7 Coupe.Back in 2004, MG-Rover released a coupe concept based on the Rover 75 sedan but the prototype quickly disappeared when MG-Rover was split up and sold off. Fast forward to today, and UK’s Car Magazine is reporting that China’s Nanjing Auto, the new owners to the rights of MG, is evaluating whether or not the car should be put into production. The one-off coupe was spotted recently at the refurbished Longbridge plant, minus the former Rover badges, which were replaced with new MG labels. Nanjing execs weren’t willing to confirm any production plans, but its CEO Yu Jian Wei has previously stated that a new coupe, plus several other sports models, could be sold alongside theTF.According to the source, the first model to join the TF will most likely be a production version of the TF GT concept that was displayed alongside the MG7 back in ’04. However, not all is lost. Much of the tooling required to build th

Saving stray cats on Nanjing Xi Lu
Poor Cat...Once upon a time... (Yesterday, actually.)I just got home from work, I'm kind of tired, my Ayi is home cleaning up the house and I'm ready to celebrate my day with a nice tall bottle of Tsingtao for my hard work. Suddenly, I get a call:"Morgan, I need your help."It's the doctor that saved my cat's life, Dr. Zhang."There's two ladies at the store that found a stray cat. We're super busy at the store. The guys downstairs can't help me. Can you grab her for me and bring it back?So I think about it for a sec... "Well, this guy did save my cat's life. He woke up early and stayed up late to remind me to give the cat med, gave me a pretty big discount for Muffin's treatment and I know how busy he gets this time of the year. The warmer it gets the more diseases with the animals..."OK...", I half-heartedly say and run downstairs to the petshop, get an apron so I can grab the feline and a cage to hold her in and me and the two ladies dash off to
