I read every Nancy Drew mystery I could get my hands on, starting with Password to Larkspur Lane and working my way through the rest of the 1,250 books in the series. Even now if I find old copies in the discard bin at the library I snatch them up and I found myself buying a few (i.e. 10) volumes when Costco carried some of the original hardbacks a few years ago. I dreamed of owning a blue roadster, have strawberry blond hair that flipped just right and a housekeeper that made the world's greatest brownies.A fan? You betcha. Gawd!! What was I thinking?? And I still have the only two Nancy Drew books I own from eons ago (circa 1985 to be exact). The movie’s opening in theaters tomorrow.
During those formative years I read Nancy Drew and another favourite of mine was the Hardy Boys. HARDY! Hurhur!!
Good thing I wised up and started reading more quality books by authors such as Isaac Asimov (I was, and still am, a geek!) and Stephen King (the Shining scared me into many sleepless nights).

Well, this film is opening next Friday, so I guess I should say something about it. Not sure what tough, I’m so not the intended audience for this film it’s not even funny.
It’s certainly a slick looking poster, and a nice showcases for the star, which might appeal to the pre-teen girl demographic. It does have a very outdated feel tough, as if it was something out of the 50’s. I wish there were some modern elements in there to spice it up.
Then again this outdated feel might be exactly what Nancy Drew is all about. I have no idea.
