Why a Myrtle Beach Vacation is So Popularby Dave JacksonIt is not surprising that Myrtle Beach is the number one beach destination in the United States with over 60 miles of white sand and blue waters, according to YTB Travelmore! Travel. It's also the number one family beach in the country. You can plan for an affordable vacation to Myrtle Beach by choosing an accommodation that has its own kitchen and laundry appliances. Making your own breakfast in the morning can help save you money you would normally be spending to feed everyone, and if you have a large family, that could get expensive. We suggest a Myrtle Beach vacation because you can enjoy it year round. Very mild year round temperatures and warm summer days make this place a hot destination. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation early an

With it sandy beaches and many choices in campground locations, Myrtle Beach Camping is the must do camping experience. With the increasing influx of visitors to Myrtle Beach, millions to be exact, this vacation destination is getting a lot of attention for being one of the best premier RV destinations in the United States. This is evident with all the RV resorts. But another sign is how the big name hotel chains pay attention. A lot of high-rise hotels are taking notice of this destination and they want the piece of the pie. These big named high-rise resorts are slowly but surely redefining the Grand Strand landscape of this once sleepy resort city.
According to the Sun News, Myrtle Beach has about a year’s supply of single-family homes and even more of condos. That being said, the market is still chugging along, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.
I haven’t had a chance to write an article for almost two weeks and it’s not because of poor time management (really). I’ve had several sales (woohoo!), and many more buyers starting to seriously look. So, what’s selling? Out of the 5,731 homes actively on the market, it’s the homes under $200,000 that are getting the most attention. Of the 594 pending home contracts, the median price is $151,200. That is a cheap price tag for living along the coast!

There has been so much hoopla over the new Market Common over the past couple years, spiking with the ground breaking ceremony last Oct. Well, I’m pleased to report there is serious progress being made on the project. McCaffery Interests is the lead developer, they already have a successful Market Common in Arlington, VA and decided to build a larger one in Myrtle Beach.
The Market Common is the biggest real estate development project in SC. This is the first introduction of New Urbanism to the Grand Strand. The Market Common is completely transforming the old Air Force Base in the heart of Myrtle Beach into a city center by the sea. The final community will be 121 acres of fine restaurants, retail, and
“Living Healthy in a Toxic World”,
“Change Your Habits, Change Your Life”,
“ Aura Photography.”
This is not the type of talk usually heard along the Grand Strand. The Wellness Expo, held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center this weekend, aims to change that.
The event was sponsored by the South Carolina Wellness Council. This is not the first expo, but I was told, the biggest yet. Now, we are in Deep-Fried Pickle Land, so “big” is loosely defined here. There were 50 exhibitors (which is quite a good turn out), but not enough people came to see all these great vendors. Some of the brave vendors who put loads of hard work are: Natural Awakenings Magazine, The Mumford Institute, Hyman Vineyards, Hibiscus Spa. and the Surfrider Foundation.
As Myrtle Beach keeps growing and people are moving from all parts of the world here, the demand for health conscious services will grow and the pioneers wh
I don't know if anyone remembers, but my job sent me to Myrtle Beach for a day of special training a couple of months ago and we couldn't resist the draw of the Sun Fun Festival. Why? Well ... who doesn't wanna see the World's Tallest Sandcastle. I'm glad that we snapped a few photos because we left on a friday and the very next day tropical storm Barry blew in and demolished the top of it.Is it possible to have the World's Tallest and Shortest Sandcastle??Here is a snapshot of the official sign but I was a lil disappointment that the measurements were not listed even though there is a spot allowed on the sign for the measurements ... it was blank. When I came home I decided to search for more information and found out that the sand castle was nearly 50 feet tall! If you'd like to read more about it, The Weather Guys over at USA Today posted a short entry about it (titled: Oh, sure--blame the weather!) including a video that's pretty neat. The sandcastle was a real spectacle and
The Brabant’s of Stony Brook, NY enjoyed a two week vacation based out of a beach home in Garden City. They scored their rental on Vacation Rental By Owner, got a great deal and a great house right on the beach. And, the pool was a usual hangout with the rough riptides.
The clan of grandma and grandpa, two sisters, one dad, one toddler, and a teething baby, ventured all over the Grand Strand. They visited Broadway at the Beach and, one of my favorite places, Waccatee Zoo .
My son and I chowed down a terrific lunch with them on Labor Day (which included authentic pasta salad). And, because they asked me about the best local butcher (Myrtle Beach has A butcher?), I now know J & J’s Butcher Shop on Inlet Sq. Dr. in Murrell’s Inlet is THE place.
See all of you on your next trip here!

“We’re so cool we fly to lunch.”
Yesterday, we hopped aboard a teeny-tiny 4–seater Cessna plane bound for lunch in Charleston. Sarah Long, Leslie Moloney, and I were flown by “Captain” Chris Long.
Chris’s day job is building magnificent estate homes in the Grande Dunes with Omni Design-Build Group. He completed his initial pilot training last year and said this was the longest trip he’d taken anyone on (I’m always happy to be a guinea pig, especially at 3500 feet above the earth). So, we made it in a smooth 45 minutes to Charleston, caught a cab, and had a three-course tea service at Thoroughbred’s inside Charleston Place, the very famous swanky hotel in the heart of Charleston.
Seeing Myrtle Beach from the air gave me such an incredibe perspective– there are so many trees and so much land! Waterways meandering all along the Grand Strand..just beautiful to take it all in. This p
Is Myrtle Beach the elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Well…potentially.
According to the figures on the Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors MLS, the median price in 2006 for a single-family 3 bedroom homes sold in Myrtle Beach was $129,000. In 2007 the median price so far for homes sold is (drum roll please) a nicely appreciated $159,900. Myrtle Beach was largely a secret in 2005’s frenzy, and we still remain undervalued for a coastal region. Lots to do, low taxes, situated in between NY and FL, cheap homes, and oh yeah, the beach, the Grand Strand will be shining in the sun for a long time.
What do you think of Myrtle Beach? And, let me offer you a deep-fried pickle on your next visit.

Myrtle Beach is one of the top vacation destinations in the United States, along the East Coast. It is located along the South Carolina state line at Little River to Georgetown.
The place is really popular. During summer, on a typical day the population can exceed half a million people! The beach is not the only reason people come — shopping, golfing, sightseeing, and live theater are also draws.
Myrtle Beach, being the largest beach resort along the Grand Strand, has the most facilities, entertainment, and restaurants, and as a result, it attracts the most visitors. But if you’re looking for a wild, swinging kind of beach resort, this isn’t it.
The beach visitors are mostly made up of families, but recently it is also attracting others, and there are concerns that the environment will be ‘polluted’. The family-friendly atmosphere is threatened by thingslike thong bathing suits, topless clubs, etc. There are discussions to ban this kind of activit
Hi, I’m Lawson and my mom is Diana. I’m going to be writing about the awesome things to do here for kids in Myrtle Beach! I’m starting with Myrtle Waves, South Carolina’s largest water park!
I’ve climbed 10 stories high and blazed down the curves of the Turbo Twister. The wave pool has fierce waves but not as fierce as the beach (and no sand). Get in front of the volcano as soon as you hear the bell at the Saturation Station and you’ll be drenched by 700 gallons of water! It’s great! And, when you feel tired, just sit down in an inner tube and the lazy river will get you going with the flow. Myrtle Waves has 32 rides in all and they’re all fun!
Whether you come to Myrtle Beach for vacation or you live here, go to Myrtle Waves– it’s a blast! And, e-mail me how you liked it!

Ever since staying with friends in the Netherlands a few years ago, I have nearly always had a carton of the Belgium’s famous Hoegaarden Witbier in the garage beer fridge, chilled and ready to drink on a hot summer day…that was until now.
Sydney based Barons Brewing Company have produced a simply stunning Lemon Myrtle Witbier as part of their Native Range of beers. The flavour combination of lemon myrtle in a witbier works really well, as Hoegaarden is always served with a wedge of lemon, so the lemon myrtle just makes sense. This easy drinking and uniquely Australian beer has a lemony aroma with fresh herb fragrances together with a crisp palate which makes this beer really exciting. It will be a great summer beer on a hot day.
For those that don’t know what a Witbier is, it’s a beer brewed using wheat instead of barley which lends to light flavoured and cloudy white beer. Some brewers add flavours like coriander and orange peel to enhance its fruitine
