The National Film Awards has been announced and Gandhigiri has helped Lagey Raho Munnabhai earn 4 of the coveted awards. However what seemed a little funny is that the movie actually released in September 2006 and the award is given two years later. Lagey Raho Munnabhai and Rang De Basanti released in 2006 but Rang De Basanti won the award in 2007 for the best film providing popular entertainment

Vidya Balan would have got one more chance to play Munna Bhai's girlfriend in 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' (LRMB) .
