There are burried many people who played great role in Riga's and Latvian history. After WWII Soviets built a street across the cemetary and turned this place into a park. I'm not much into gowns, but when I saw the Mourning Minnu Gown by Kyoot Army, my jaw dropped. Literally. It is pure perfection. It is combination of the Wilted Wednesday Vest and the Exquisite Corpse Gown, made by Minnu Palen's request. It costs 350L$, comes only in black, and can be bought from the MMS shop. The skin worn with it was made specially for this gown. I must admit, in my opinion, it is the best skin so far by MMS. It costs 1200L$, pale skintone only, and can be found next to the gown. ~*~* wearing *~*~ hair: Crush in Blackgloss by GuRL 6 eyes: Intense Violet/Obsidian Eyes by Sin Skins skin: MMS Pale Mourning Minnu Skin by MMS gown: Mourning Minnu Gown by Koot Army shoes: Black Stiletto Pumps by Sylfie's Prim Seduction

It was Sunday morning that we found this cute Mourning Dove sitting on top of our BBQ covered in snow. I went out to take some pictures, and believe or not, the Mourning Dove did not even move, I guess may be the BBQ was still giving off some heat even though it has been a week since we used it, lol. That day all weather networks were calling for winter storm warning, so as the Mourning Dove was warming up to the BBQ, we were able to warm up in our house for a day - as on Sundays we are always on the road to visit our family. Tommorrow Mourning
My grandmother has died. She was 80 years old and the only relative I've known from my father's side of the family, other than he and my sisters. I don't really know what I am supposed to be thinking or feeling at this point. Other than a few tears that slipped when I first spoke to my dad after finding out, and a few moments at work that just made me feel full, I haven't let myself cry or grieve or even think about it. As a matter of fact, even as I'm writing this, I'm not processing. I'm dealing with it from a very abstract place, as if it exists outside of me. The facts: my grandmother is gone, my father is now without the only parent he has never known, I have to be strong for him now. I feel like I should do a Five For Friday of my best memories of my grandmother, but that would require me to actually think about her and actually realize that she is gone. Instead, I'm just walking around in a bit of a funk: mostly calm and pleasant, marked by moments of anger that the worl

Mourning Death of Loved One Raises Your Risk of Dying
The grieving that follows a loved one's death can increase your risk of death, from suicide as well as other causes, a new review shows. The most vulnerable period was the first 30 days following the loss.More research needs to be done on targeting high-risk individuals and on what interventions might be helpful, according to the article in the Dec. 8 issue of The Lancet."There is a strong need for more evaluation of the efficacy of psychotherapeutic intervention programs for bereaved people, to better establish: (1) what type of help is [most] effective; (2) who precisely benefits from it; and (3) under what circumstances positive results are most likely to occur," said study author Margaret Stroebe, special chair of the Research Institute for Psychology and Health at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, in association with the Dutch Association for Grief Counseling. Wamsutta’s Day of Mourning Speech
I speak to you as a man — a Wampanoag Man. I am a proud man, proud of my ancestry, my accomplishments won by a strict parental direction (”You must succeed - your face is a different color in this small Cape Cod community!”). I am a product of poverty and discrimination from these two social and economic diseases. I, and my brothers and sisters, have painfully overcome, and to some extent we have earned the respect of our community. We are Indians first - but we are termed “good citizens.” Sometimes we are arrogant but only because society has pressured us to be so. It is with mixed emotion that I stand here to share my thoughts. This is a time of celebration for you - celebrating an anniversary of a beginning for the white man in America. A time of looking back, of reflection. It is with a heavy heart that I look back upon what happened to my People. Even before the Pilgrims landed it was common practice for explorers to capture Indians, take them to Euro

      National Day of Mourning
I know that last year when I wrote on this topic, some found it depressing. Here are two reasons I will be highlighting some words of Native People’s this week. Thanksgiving is more or less the only time of year that any attention on a national level is given to the history of this country as it involves Native People. It is the one day that many are evening considering that there where people on this land when the pilgrim’s arrived, and it is one opportunity to prick a hole in the pretty packaged history we’ve created for ourselves. As a Christian, I am compelled more and more that Jesus pointed to the poor, the oppressed, the downtrodden and outcast as the true leaders of his kingdom, the ones who receive blessing, the ones to whom the kingdom belongs. In an effort to follow Christ, I want to give opportunity to silence my voice, and lift up others The National Day of Mourning takes place on the same day we celebrate Thanksgiving. It is a protest by Native People

      Mourning But Moving On
This Friday, the 26th, is the second anniversary of my mom’s death. Here is the first column I wrote about her death, and “A Blessing” provides a few more details. Here is what I wrote about the occasion last year. You’ll see that some of these columns have tags under them– you can click on the tag “ovarian cancer” to locate other posts discussing my mom and her disease. If you live in Alabama and you want to support research efforts for ovarian cancer, you can go to your county license plate office and ask the clerk for a commitment to purchase a special plate demonstrating your support. The plate costs $50, and $41.25 of that goes to the Oncology/Gynecology Department at UAB. This department performed my ovarian cancer risk assessment and is top-notch. In Jefferson County you can go to the main courthouse or any satellite office and get in the tag line to fill out the paperwork. The $50 is tax deductible. The number to call is 205 856 8

THE LORD is my shepherd;I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul;He leads me in the paths of righteousnessFor His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil; For You are with me;Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil;My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow meAll the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORDForever. Psalm 23 NKJVMost of us have heard this Psalm, but I wonder how many of us really stop to consider what King David meant when he penned these words. All day yesterday, this Psalm was in my head. It comforted me, when I needed comfort."The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want." Is the Lord your shepherd? Do you allow Him to lead you in everything you do? New Zealand in mourning as All Blacks head home
Black is the colour of both mourning and of the All Blacks‘ shirts, so we can show our support and our grief by dressing in black for a month. At least. A moment’s silence is definitely in order after our graceless exit from the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals. Here we all were (even those of us lacking in rugby nous) assuming we would at least make it to the glory of semi-finals (we were even favourites for the big win!) but instead we wowed the world with our worst ever World Cup performance. There they were in a line at the press conference - coaches Wayne Smith, Graham Henry and Steve Hansen - served up to the waiting media, grief-stricken and downtrodden, with a sprinkling of shame for good measure. The New Zealand Rugby Union has announced a review of the team’s performance, putting the jobs of coaches and senior management on the line. Wayne Smith said their pain was made worse by the fact that the New Zealand public were hurting too: “We are grieving. We

I let my finger glide across the surface of this frosty pane. It slides into lines and loops. Forming the letters of your name before my eyes. It is evidence of your presence in my life. Your impact on my thoughts. In the clock of life, you were here for just a second. But in my heart, you are eternal. There are instances in life when time seems too cruel. It plays with our dreams. Restricting them. Containing them. Controlling them. When I want to wake up from the nightmare I have fallen into, the blackness seems to wind into forever. When I would choose to remain wrapped within the warm perfection of sleeping hours, daylight breaks through… as dew drops dismiss your name. I know you were here. Time may remove the evidence from all but my heart and these quickly formed letters…etching you into the path of life.

More often than not, Internet phenomenons have this uncanny knack of being kooky! Right from the Stars Wars kid who became a YouTube celebrity to the 3D-rendered dancing baby that got itself a free pass into the virtual wall of fame – all of them are showcased with the understanding that people enjoy a certain degree of absurdity in their daily dose of humour. Since its launch in 2005 by Mike Patterson – a 25-year old legal clerk, MyDeathSpace has become a fad on the World Wide Web. Affectionately, virtually every one of his teammates reached out, put a gloved hand on his helmet, and touched their forehead to his, standing like that for several seconds. As if that wasn't already enough to put a lump in the throat, several of the Canucks embraced Turco as the two teams met in that most sportsmanlike of hockey traditions, the post-series handshake line. Finally, there was only Turco and his Vancouver counterpart, Roberto Luongo, standing together at center ice. Blacksburg/Chennai/Mumbai/Kanpur, April 18 (IANS) From his village in Tamil Nadu to IIT Kanpur where he studied and from her former neighbourhood in Mumbai and all the way to the US, there was mass mourning Wednesday for an Indian professor and student who were among the 32 massacred in an American university by a South Korean student who later shot himself dead. As flags flew half-mast across the US in memory of the victims of a senseless slaughter, Indians joined a stunned diapora in paying tributes to Professor G.V. Loganathan, 53, and architecture student Minal Panchal, 26, who fell victims to Monday’s shooting spree by Cho Seung-Hui at the Virginia Tech University. On Wednesday, Indian authorities moved quickly to issue passports to four members of Loganathan’s grieving family to fly to the US, where the man who has been widely described as a “thorough gentleman” is to be cremated in line with his wish. Gamethread 3/27: Cubs vs Royals: A National Day of Mourning
Rich Hill takes the mound today, but that isn't why we are in a national day of mourning.  We would be in a day of mourning due to the annual placing Wood on the DL roster move that was announced last night.  Every year we go into camp expecting a clean bill of health, and every year he ends up letting us down. It's like that movie Final Destination: we see it happening before it happens, and everyone knows it's going to happen, but when it comes down to stopping it from happening there's not a thing anyone can do about it. It seems like every time we get a good arm, he ends up getting injured shortly thereafter.  Maybe there is a such thing as a curse; then again, maybe the Cubs just have a flawed team philosophy on how to handle their young arms.  Either or..
