A new motto is needed to promote the nation’s tourism industry and help Viet Nam come closer to its goal of becoming one of Asia’s top tourist destinations over the next two years, says Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, deputy director of the Tourism Promotion Agency.
A new motto, as well as a comprehensive plan to boost tourism, remained in the planning stages, said Huong.

Sometimes I have to talk to myself in my head. When I’m on the phone with someone who’s raising his voice, demanding to know why he got an e-mail about a problem that turned out not to be a problem, why he’s been burdened for five minutes of his morning double-checking something he’d already done.

A Motto To LivePut things in perspective.Move ahead in a positive way;don't allow yourself to become minedin a negative view.See things for what they really are.Don't let the little things get in the way.Do what you can,however you can,with the resources you have avaiable for you.Don't sell yourself short.You have the power within you to changes what needs changing.Face the situation with the resolve;to remedy it;do what you need to doto put it behind you.Move ahead in the direction of happiness;go for your dreams and reach for your star.And remember who's in the driver's seat;YOU are. by Collin Mccarty
UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown is seeking to capture the public’s imagination with a search for a national motto. Is this a good idea?
One would think not. For a number of reasons.
• A national motto would only appeal to a super-serious few;
• It is justly open to ridicule by the vast majority;
• An entity will never appear the same way to all, so why try;
• It is a vanity exercise;
• It would be a salve on national wounds, or be perceived to be;
• In its attempt at inclusiveness, it could never recognize diversity;
• It will ultimately be bland;
• It will only appeal to the patriots, thereby missing those it seeks to attract.
On the other hand, if it works it might inspire youth and that would be a terrific pay-off.

Sealing the Deal They say absolute power corrupts absolutely. I'm not sure anyone in New Jersey has absolute power -- save Bruce Springsteen on occasion -- but last week's roundup of nearly a dozen state officials on corruption charges illustrates...

In the mail several days ago I received a free copy of a new magazine called “Motto Magazine.” It has similarities to FastCompany in that it attempts to prove that business people can be passionate, happy, socially-responsible and still make a killing! The key difference seems to be that they are more niche than FastCompany and focus more on the corporate social responsibility theme. The advertising is all relevant and includes both NetImpact and Calvert.
The mag is founded by Kevin Salwen (interviewed here) and Anita Sharpe both former Wall Street Journal writers. It seems the founders are friends of Rex at RexBlog. Preston from Texas liked it, and he likes Good Magazine, another personal favorite of mine. Curt Rosengren from Passion Catalyst writes for them. CSR Wire recently picked up a press release on the most recent edition.
Motto has a great introductory video on the website, but oddly it’s not embeddable and it’s not on YouTube (what are you guys thinking!).

On Sunday I give political satire a gentle heave-ho. So...let's talk about TULSA. That's Oklahoma, which is celebrating it's Centennial this year. I like to give out awards. I'm going to give Tulsa my award for "Best Motto for a Small Mid-western City I Can't Find on the Map." I don't know if it's their official motto, but it should be. I don't know who their ad agency is, but they should send the chief copywriter to someplace greener than Oklahoma for coming up with this one. Are you ready? It's: Tulsa, a bright spot in the middle of a long road. I love it! I'm not making fun of it or Tulsa, I actually think this is right up there with I Love NY and Utah: Gateway to Nevada. Read it again: A bright spot in the middle of a l-o-n-g road. By damned, those words are pure Steinbeck!--and since his Mother Road zips through Tulsa I guess it's appropriate. As an ex-copywriter I'm jealous as hell. It's hard, so hard to say something different and not have it come off like every oth

These groups provide loans on a repayment basis where money is recycled back into the community.
