Mother Teresa The Nobel Peace Prize 1979
Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje*, Macedonia, on August 26**, 1910. Her family was of Albanian descent. At the age of twelve, she felt strongly the call of God. She knew she had to be a missionary to spread the love of Christ. At the age of eighteen she left her parental home in Skopje and joined the Sisters of Loreto, an
Mother Teresa (1910-1997) - The Nobel Peace Prize 1979 , Whose original name was Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, was born on August 26, 1910 in what is now Skopje, Macedonia. She devoted her life to helping the sick and the poor.
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.
We cannot do great things on this Earth, only small things with great love
Britney Spears is helping raise money for UNICEF by participating in a charity auction with X17. The item Britney donated: One signed copy of her new album “Blackout.” Clearly her generosity knows no bound, but it does have a press release: "I think it's important to give back and with the release of Blackout, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to give the fans a chance to bid on something to help children everywhere.” Perhaps a more opportune time for Britney Spears to auction off an autographed copy of her new album might have been, I dunno, about two weeks ago when it came out. Yeah, back when these other people, I think they’re called a record label, were trying to promote it without her. But, it’s cool. What nobody understands is that Britney was too busy eating fried chicken and dressing like a slutty pirate. Because she loves the children so much. Edit: So I scoped out the auction on eBay. At the time of this post it was up to $7200.00. But here’s the best
In light of all of the attacks on the character of Mother Teresa and all of the misunderstanding about her journey through the Dark Night, I thought that this would be a good video to play in order to remember the great achievements that Mother Teresa achieved because of her faith in Christ, fidelity to [...]
Mother Teresa's hidden faith struggle, laid bare in a new book that shows she felt alone and separated from God, is forcing a re-examination of one of the world's best known religious figures. to read full-->> -dyn/content/article/2007/08/25/AR2007082500836.htmlYep its shocking! why am i putting this here?? To proof that "christian people " are not really religious??Of course not.It is just a news. It has nothing got to do with Christianity/Islam and other religions. When Mother Teresa received the prize, she was asked, "What can we do to promote world peace?" Her answer was "Go home and love your family." Building upon this theme in her Nobel Lecture, she said: "Around the world, not only in the poor countries, but I found the poverty of the West so much more difficult to remove. When I pi
This collection primarily of correspondence between Mother Teresa and priests who functioned as her confessors as well as some others shows an inner life of darkness for approximately 50 years. I was privileged to meet Mother Teresa in the 70s when she visited New Zealand. I visited her work in Calcutta in the 80s.

Shortly after beginning work in Calcutta’s slums, the spirit left Mother Teresa. “Where is my faith?” she wrote. “Even deep down… there is nothing but emptiness and darkness… If there be God - please forgive me.”"Such deep longing for God… Repulsed, empty, no faith, no love, no zeal,” she said. “What [...]
I am angry about this one. There is a new book coming out about Mother Teresa that reveals at times she had a lack of faith, maybe even doubted the existence of god.And this is meant as criticism of her as the saint she was. She was a hypocrite.Let me break the news. That is the way faith works.Jesus was dying on the cross and cried “Father why have you forsaken me?”A struggle with faith is something that can not be understood by the Boston Globe or the New York Times. They just put it down as being hypocrisy.Today in America, we have polarized definite views that are fixed. We always know we are right. If we are atheists we are sure of it. We never doubt our confirmed knowledge there is no god.Maybe I can not explain this to most people nowadays. But most people who are believers doubt and struggle all the time. It is only the jerks that are absolutely sure they have the right vision of god all the time.True faith is a way of thinking among those who truly seek to find him. I doub
I am feeling both deep pain and great joy to learn that Mother Theresa, who ministered to the needs of the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying for over 40 years, spent virtually that entire time without sensing the presence of God in her life. If you haven’t learned about these startling revelations, see, for example, the article in Time titled “Mother Teresa’a Crisis of Faith”. It reports in

Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who has been put on the “fast track” to sainthood, was so tormented by doubts about her faith that she felt “a hypocrite,” it has emerged from a book of her letters to friends and confessors.
Shortly after beginning her work in the slums of Calcutta, she wrote: “Where is my faith? Even deep down there is nothing but emptiness and darkness. If there be a God — please forgive me.”
Whew! I thought I was only one! Seriously, how can one have no doubts about God when God can't be sensed by those five senses we use for everything else? To doubt is to think. To think is to grow. Everybody should doubt God every once in a while- on purpose.
Was Mother Teresa an atheist? Andrew Brown at Comment is Free asks this intriguing question in light of recently released writings which show that Mother Teresa had serious questions about her faith. Brown writes, "...even as she was receiving the Nobel prize, she asked her confessor to pray for her because she could feel nothing when she prayed herself and no longer had any experience of God."The implications are certainly interesting to ponder, although I would be shocked if this new information changed any minds. Christians desperately need her to remain a symbol of Christianity, and so she will remain one.Tags: Mother Teresa, atheist
For anyone that’s read the Christopher Hitchens’ ‘The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice‘, some of this will be familiar.
Penn and Teller examine Mother Teresa’s life in one of their ‘bullshit’ episodes. I particularly enjoyed seeing Christopher Hitchens, cigarette and Scotch in hand, seemingly preferring to drink and smoke than continue the interview I’d love to meet the guy. I’m not all that fond of his views on Iraq but he’s got some balls writing about Mother Teresa in the way he has, especially in the climate of unerring belief that Mother Teresa is the most wonderful, caring women ever to have graced the planet. .
A couple of quotes which give a gist of what the program is about include:
“I would describe Mother Teresa as a fraud, a fanatic and a fundamentalist.”
He goes on to say:
“Everything everyone thinks they know about her is false. Not just most of the things, all the thin
“The biggest disease today is not leprosy or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted, uncared for and deserted by everybody.”Mother Teresa (1910 – 97) Albanian missionary and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize
“The success of love is in the loving - it is not in the result of loving. Of course it is natural in love to want the best for the other person, but whether it turns out that way or not does not determine the value of what we have done.”Mother Teresa (1910 – 97) Albanian missionary and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize
