I find it amusing that during times of strive, and blatant injustices such as the Sean Bell verdict, BET allows the “consciousness” rappers to speak and bring forth their assessments. But as soon as the case becomes yesteryears news in a few months, its back to makin’ it rain on these hoes. Regardless Nas, Talib [...]

Mos Def guest appears alongside Beyonce
My man Mos Def has joined the cast in the forthcoming movie, "Cadillac Records". Actor/Rapper Mos Def will portray guitar legend Chuck Berry in the movie based on the real success of the legendary Chess Records label. My dude right here is off the hook, I loved him in "Brown Sugar", and I can't wait to see him in this flick. Beyonce will star as Etta James in the movie and Adrien Brody will play Chess co-founder Leonard Chess. Alongside them, Jeffrey Wright, Eamonn Walker and Cedric the Entertainer will also star in the film. Gabrielle Union has also signed on to the cast. Darnell Martin, who wrote the script is also directing "Cadillac Records" which is currently filming in New Jersey. While visiting the old set of A Fresh Prince Of Bel Air (it seems…), a furious Mos Def expressed his discontent regarding the media’s latest hot topic: Steroids. NEW IN THEATERS: Jerry (Jack Black) has an unusual problem: his brain becomes magnetized, which wipes out the entire stock of his friend Mike's (Mos Def) video store. With all the tapes blank, Jerry and Mike set out to recreate every film ever made to make sure the store's most loyal customer, an elderly woman, keeps coming back to rent something.

Mos Def & MOP Concert in Paris (video)
The mighty Mos Def aka the most beautiful boogey man drops a gem of a performance at Elysée Montmartre, Paris. But to be real, Undeniable is still his best performance to date (IMO). Also featured is the high octane hardcore from MOP. From what I can gather this clip is from September so please excuse the tardiness, and check Mos & M.O.P.’s brilliance after the jump. Mos Def Signs New Deal
Mos Def’s contract was completed earlier this year, and since then he has been a free agent. He has recently signed to Downtown Recordings which is home to Gnarls Barkley and other rock bands. It’s going to be interesting to see how his musical direction changes, hopefully it’s not “The New Danger” type bull shit. An album isn’t in the works yet but he said there should be a release in 2008. Share This

Freestyle: Kanye West + Mos Def pt. 2 (video)
Well apparently Mos’s and Ye’s freestyle session we saw on Tuesday wasn’t it in its entirety, heres part two. Ye’ comes a little harder then last time, as the crowd acknowledges him a bit more then previously. Mos also comes a bit harder as well, and doesn’t appear to be using premeditated raps this time around either. Check the footage out after the break. Mos Def Calls for More Celeb Support of Jena 6
Mos Def made the trek to Louisiana in support of Jena 6 yesterday... If more hip-hop icons could join Mos Def in this effort to see justice done, maybe they can teach up-and-coming hip-hop hopefuls to take out their grills, take off their diamond chains, leave their trophy whores and stand for something actually worth rapping about

MOS DEF VS. SUGE KNIGHT LOOK-A-LIKE!!
Mos Def got in a tizzy with the paparazzi outside of Hyde nightclub last night. Pissed off that the photog wouldn't delete the shot, Mos first used his words to try and convince the guy to do what he wanted saying, "I'm not from around here" and "You're violating my space." Just when it seemed eveything was peace one of Mos Def's people tried to snatch the camera away. The photographer who by the way resembles Suge Knight held on held on for dear life. Anyway...just check out the video. I feel you Mos on being violated and all, but as a member of the press myself-these folks are just trying to do their job! You're a celebrity...it's all part of the territory, so deal with it.

      Mos Def vs. Jack Bauer
Hey, we haven't heard any hip-hop in a while...Mos Def is pretty much just an all-around cool dude. He makes good music, he's a pretty good actor, he's does the Def Poetry, he hangs out with Dave Chappelle... and he closed down Coachella a couple years back in most memorable fashion. You wish you were there... it was awesome. Yup, he's kind of a renaissance dude. The only thing he can't do is program a TIVO. Seriously, I missed three episodes of 24 because I left that guy in charge, and I'll never forgive him. You can't just miss three episodes of 24, ya know? Too much goes on! (Okay, that didn't really happen, but I gotta say, this year after getting off to an awesome start... what with Jack having to kill Curtis and the nuke going off in Valencia, the show went straight into the crapper. The appearance of Ricky Schroder = the exact second 24 jumped the shark. If Zack from Saved By The Bell shows up next year, I'm gonna go burn down the Fox lot, I swear.) They shou
