You know I find myself wishing I could both translate stuff into morse code and listen to that translation all the time (ok not really). Fortunately for the world someone has gone and busted out a java applet (an applet!!) that does just that giving you both a visual and audio representation! This beach is empty most of the time. It’s at least a mile long with a few houses in the area and is very open to the ocean which makes it a great spot for kayaking or diving. It’s all sand on the shore line, so your kids can run wild.
We also found a letterbox in the area (not telling where, though ). I went on the geocaching website and found a few caches in the area, so I’m taking my kids back for some treasure hunting.
My son Todd found an interesting piece of wood on the beach, I put the images below the beach pictures. We called it “Billy” because it looks like a mountain goat. To get to the beach you need to walk down a path, It’s about a mile and a half hike on a nice partially paved trail, bring a stroller if you have little kids. Bikes, however, aren’t allowed on the trail; I have no idea why.

Today, I would like to introduce small, but powerfull open source morese telegraphy (CW) trainer available for any flavour of linux and unix.
This little program is not actually full blown morse code trainare, but its more geared for improving your ability to copy callsigns at high speeds, specially in contests.
QRQ actually works under the terminal, but this shouldn’t put you away. For what it does, it’s more then enough. I would certianly recommend this usefull cw trainer to all of you who wants to improve their ability to receive speeder cw. It’s not really the best program for newcommers, however you can still set it up to teach you callsigns in

Last night (9pm ITV1) was the start of Lewis, which is Morse by any other name. The producers had to find a way to carry on after the death of the great John Thaw, and promoting lewis and giving him a lewis of his own was a good idea. The Oxford settings remain, although the classic car has gone. To keep the pseudo-intellectual element, Lewis’s Lewis (Hathaway) has been given an erudition that Morse would have been proud of, last night demonstrating his knowledge of ancient Greek myths.

The story was an interesting blend of murder, without a murderer - which was an intriguing twist on most detective stories. Morse fell for the ladies occasionally, and Lewis leaves the case knowing surely, that although the girl didn’t take revenge herself, she arranged the situation. In his book she had done nothing wrong - we have a more amoral detective than Morse, but still a great modern potboiler
