I’m having a real Monty Python moment here in Toronto. I wander all over the city and see lots of signs - I tend to ignore most of them. But this one always gets to me. Take a look at it… it says “No Live Animals Allowed” and it shows a picture of a parrot on it. I see this in a variety of stores and coffee shops.
A couple of things about this sign give me the giggles:
Why is there a picture of a parrot on the sign? I don’t know about your city, but people here don’t tend to wander the streets with a parrot on their shoulder. You really don’t have to warn folks not to bring their parrots into any eating establishment - not even the pirates.

This past week Michael Palin was reading at the Philadelphia Library from his book of diaries spanning the decade Monty Python was on the air. I had pretty low expectations stemming from the fact that just because a person can write funny things doesn't mean he'll be funny in real life and also when I saw the crowd I knew we weren't going to be even in the same room as Palin, but stuck in some vestibule somewhere watching it on closed circuit TV. I was very quickly proved wrong. Palin is a very personable man with very jittery mannerisms and retains a lot of the twinkle in his eyes that makes you know he is still a bit of a trouble maker. Plus he is very ordinary. If you didn't know he was a famous comedian you'd think he was just some average bloke hanging out at a pub. Though apparently he spends most of his free time at home with his family reading newspapers and drinking tea. WEST Indies captain Chris Gayle revealed Shivanarine Chanderpaul could move up the batting order, in the wake of the 79-run defeat by England in the first one-day international at Lord's today (AEST).
Chanderpaul batted at No.5 and ran out of partners, finishing 53 not out as West Indies went down chasing England's 225.
Gayle said Chanderpaul's place at No.5 was part of a plan to have a left hander in the middle-order to counter the threat of Monty Panesar's left-arm spin.
But he admitted it had backfired, and he will be discussing the matter with the coaching team ahead of Wednesday's second match at Edgbaston, Brmingham, on Wednesday.
Gayle said: "The only batsman who got a start was Shivnarine and that is something we have to look into.

SHIVNARINE Chanderpaul has made the most of being dropped by Monty Panesar to give West Indies hope of a record-breaking win in the third Test with England at Old Trafford.
At stumps on the fourth day West Indies, looking to level the four-match series at 1-1, was 5-301, needing a further 154 runs to reach a victory target of 455 in a minimum of 90 overs tonight (AEST).
Chanderpaul, reprieved on 18, is 81 not out after more than four hours at the crease following his first innings 50. Denesh Ramdin, dropped by wicketkeeper Matthew Prior on four, is unbeaten on 26.
Panesar, who 4-50 in the first innings, tried to atone by removing Runako Morton and Dwayne Bravo on his way to figures of 3-87.
It is not the first time experienced left hander Chanderpaul, now in his 103rd Test, had played a key role in a large run chase.
In May 2003 he made 104 when West Indies scored a Test record, fourth innings winning total of 7-418 against Australia in Antigua.

I’m Sheila and Brian’s daughter. Today is a particularly sad day for my parents. Earlier this afternoon they had the very sad and difficult task of having their beloved dog, Monty put to sleep.
Monty was 15 years old and they had a very special bond with him.

They had assumed that Monty would go with them around Australia once Our Time was completed but old age caught up with Monty.

I’m Sheila and Brian’s daughter. Today is a particularly sad day for my parents. Earlier this afternoon they had the very sad and difficult task of having their beloved dog, Monty put to sleep.
Monty was 15 years old and they had a very special bond with him.

If you are a fan of Monty Python and the Holy Grail then you should definitely check this page out. It is the original screenplay dated March 20 1974 before filming took place. I didn’t sit and read through the entire document but just the first few lines had me laughing
1 EXTERIOR - CASTLE WALLS - DAY
Mist. Several seconds of it swirling about. silence possibly,
atmospheric music. SUPERIMPOSE “England AD 787″. after a few more
seconds we hear hoofbeats in the distance. They come slowly
closer. Then out of the mist comes KING ARTHUR followed by a SERVANT
who is banging two half coconuts together. ARTHUR raises his hand.
ARTHUR
Whoa there!
SERVANT makes noises of horses halting, with a flourish. ARTHUR peers
through the mist. CUT TO shot from over his shoulder: castle
(e.g. Bodium) rising out of the mist. On the castle battlements a
SOLDIER is dimly seen. He peers down.

I cannot believe it is Friday again, I just have no idea where the week goes at times! Still as it is Friday I thought I would scour the Internet for something amusing that relates to recruitment, well at least in some way.
Finally after watching a fair amount of rubbish, I managed to find some classic Monty Python. Unfortunately it isn’t the Dead Parrot Sketch but a sketch for a Job Interview.
