Currently I’m in the middle of teaching 3 folks in the black arts of blogging for BOGIDYBOO money. My friends over at janeybell.net have finally delved into making online videos on the Toddler Reality Show (http://greenville-nc.com/?p=214). Their first video is an ad for Packet8’s newest product and features their son’s stuffed toy hippo. I’m not much of an authority on cute, but I’m pretty partial to my grandballons and the youngest one’s photograph is featured in the ad. Ms. janeybell, herself, is the narrator, and her husband was kind enough to do the camera work and change her background slides. January was my best month for revenue so far. Across the board I managed to beat out all my previous totals and, as a result, began thinking about monetizing my blog a bit better. Awhile back I spoke about using Text Link Ads to add a revenue stream to your blog's RSS feed. While I certainly enjoy the Text Link Ads service it's one that either works great or sits stagnant. There's really no in between - You either sell ads or you don't. As a result of last month I started thinking about better ways to take advantage of some of the un-used advertising space that was reserved for Text Link Ads. The first thing that I did was add a series of Amazon text links to the sidebar. I figured by adding Text links to the site I might be able to encourage advertisers to include their links as well. Jack Reid, of Blasdell, believes that the Control Board should lift the wage freeze affecting city police and firefighters. The sad event of Dec. 5 only underscores how little the Buffalo control board values the hard work and dedication of city employees. Two Buffalo police officers - working under a contract that was signed in good faith and then frozen by the control board - were shot, resulting in life-threatening injuries. The Control Board doesn’t care about the lives of police officers because they haven’t lifted the wage freeze?  Where is the logic?  Becasue the two officers showed up for work, that justifies a raise?  All police officers who are unhappy with the Control Board have the option to quit and work else where.
