The all-new 2008 Ford Mondeo is showing drivers more of the road thanks to the car's adaptive front lighting system (AFS) which beams light round corners.AFS incorporates halogen lamps linked to sensors which detect steering input and can swivel up to 15 degrees. This system improves visibility when negotiating tight bends, particularly on roads where the only light source is the car's headlamps.In comparative tests between conventional halogen reflector lamps and AFS, the AFS lamps cast light an additional 10 metres into the bend. Allied to static corner lighting, AFS greatly improves visibility.Static, low level cornering lights are another feature of AFS. They are automatically turned on when the car is travelling below 37mph, and the steering wheel turns at an angle of at least 30 degrees. The result of latest round EURO NCAP crash safety test come out, Ford’s new Mondeo, VW’s Tiguan, are the top five star of this crash safety test. Hyundai’s new i-30 hatch, Ford’s Mondeo and the Volkswagen Caddy ‘Life’ and VW Tiguan SUV all going under the microscope of this Euro NCAP crash safety test. Vehicles were rated on three different categories, Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection and Pedestrian Protection, and received a separate score for each.   The Euro NCAP crash safety tests include crashing the vehicles head-on into an offset barrier at roughly 40mph, side impact collisions traveling at about 30mph, and pedestrian impacts, which are tested at 25mph. Ford Mondeo and VW Tiguan each scoring a five star rating for adult protection, four stars for child safety and only two stars for pedestrian protection. O primeiro face-lift do Ford Focus II está por vir. Já rodam na Europa alguns protótipos do carro, bem disfarçados. Lançado em 2004, seu visual será levemente atualizado, assim como fizeram com a minivan C-Max. A inspiração? O novo Ford Mondeo. Even though Ford has yet to make an official debut of the Mondeo, images and a short press release leaked onto the web recently. Now a few things about the all-new Mondeo that could go global finding its way even into the US market as several Ford execs recently admitted. According to several Ford people we spoke to, the 2008 Mondeo will hold all the key-elements of the current model (excellent chassis with sporty road manners, spacious cabin & competitive prices) ditching away two of its most serious cons: dull interior and exterior design and the mediocre plastics of the cabin.
