Actors and actresses often have unusual names. You know - they often change their name to a stage name upon reaching popularity. If you were an actor or actress, it would be easy to find a new name! Just combine the name of your first cat (if you've never had a cat use a neighbor cat's name) and the name of the street you live on. So what is your actor/actress name?Mine would be: Jasmine SykesvilleWow that's a mouthful!

It’s hard to spend Monday mornings at the office cruising the web for hot chicks so I usually find the Monday morning pick me up on Sunday afternoon. There was a Christmas party at my house yesterday afternoon and I took the opportunity to catch a little Sunday afternoon buzz. Long story short I completely forgot about the Monday morning pick me up until about 15 minutes ago. I didn’t want to let anyone down so I bit the bullet and did some hot chick internet surfing at my desk. You’re welcome.

If you look at the major indexes above, all of them are either sideways to down. On the other hand the indicators are still not pointing to a major down turn. The small cap index is in really bad shape but the Dow and S&P are dead in the middle of their ranges. The high flying China Index looks to be a pretty good top right now but the other emerging markets are more like the Dow.-It is amazing that everyone got so excited with last weeks rally but it really got us no where. Still because it is January and the Smart/Dump has not broken down, I want to bet we will trend up over the near term.
Good morning to all of you and we are beginning another week of activity but this week will be a short week as tuesday is a market holiday for Christmas. Thursday will be the settlement for this month F & O and so we have only 3 days for the settlement. There will be lot of volatility due to rollover positions being high and at the same time there are lot of shorts built up. We will see gap up opening as shorts are covered on opening but again we see rollover positions bringing down the market. Those who want to gain in our market need to have two things which are a must. One is discipline and other is patience. If you lack either of these, you may not gain but instead loose your money. There are many other factors like greed and fear but all these are part of the above two. Most of the investors attitude is to make some quick money but the real gainers will be those who have invested in a disciplined manner and also have enough patience to reap rewards.Just to give an example : When

John Boggs is hoping they don't take him for a test drive.
From the NY Daily News:
The possibility of the Yankees and Mets competing for a big-name pitcher always puts sizzle into a free-agent chase, but it remains to be seen how deep the two teams get into discussions over rehabbing righty Mark Prior, the ex-Cub.
Both have expressed "preliminary interest" in Prior, John Boggs, the pitcher's agent, said yesterday. "But it hasn't been anything more than that. Next week will probably be pretty busy."
Boggs says 11 teams have expressed interest in his client, who likely will be ready to pitch in the majors by the end of May.
Prior, whose promising career has been derailed by injuries, was non-tendered by Chicago last week. Prior had arthroscopic surgery last season on his shoulder in which noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews did some repair work to his rotator cuff and labrum.

Good Morning to all of you !. It is another Monday morning and another half hour to go before the action in our markets start this week. We have weak global cues to tackle with but we have strong bulls in our market to tackle the cues. We will have weak opening but markets should consolidate and bounce back again. There have been lot of questions on Reliance and RPL merger and though RPL share holders will be at slight disadvantage when the actual merger takes place, my advice is to stay invested in RPL as the merger may or may not happen. However one should also have Reliance Shares in their portfolio and it should be a balance. I expect that demerger will take place in only in 2009 by the time the valuations will change considerably.IFCI conversion price for changing the debt to equity of financial institutions may be around 107 Rs and the bids are expected to be around 130 to 150. Markets were volatile on Friday as at every rise there is some profit booking seen but at the same time the selling is getting absorbed with new buyers coming in.FED is expected to make rate cut in its meeting on 11th December and there should be a rate cut of 0.25%. This should fuel further rally in our markets. However we are at a level once again where there will be lot of volatility and only stock specific activity is needed. Many of the blog readers have asked me about the right time to enter GMR Infra. Please remember that you can actually enter a stock any time if you find value in that stock. One should always be prepared for the dip in the stock and treat it as opportunity to make more money. GMR Infra has a very good business model and it is a stock one shoud hold for long term to reap benefits. I expect GMR to touch 550 Rs in another one year and this could change if GMR bags a couple of Airports. GMR is going to soon come out with IPO for its subsidiary GMR energy which shou
Not many. I hope this market sells off a little today and tomorrow and then we get a rally midweek and make all the IBD guys happy with a follow thru day. The Dollar is a little weaker so is Oil. Gold is flat.-Going over the last months numbers, it looks like I was up about $925. This is my first plus mouth since going full time. Going full time has really messed with my brain. I can only hope November was I turning point for me. I will post my review of my November in detail once I can download the monthly statements. -Again if you are going to make it in this business, you must be super honest with yourself on how you are doing both good and bad. This is why I write my blog. This is why I am very open with my gains and losses. This is why I review all my trades multiple times. It is a
Markets will continue to be range bound between 18K and 21K for few more months atleast as we had already run up way ahead of fundamentals and so this type of consolidation will keep happening.Focus on specific stocks and make money in this market. Whenever market goes down. pick up stocks and try to make some free shares by selling at higher levels. This way you get good cushion for yourself and also have your capital intact.
For many reasons, I believe we are getting ready for a multi-week bounce. I subscribe to Sentimentrader.com. They have a smart money verse dumb money indicator that is flashing a somewhat strong buy signal. The indicator is not easy to pick the absolute bottom but it does very well in picking major swing points. Also I have read in multiple places that if November sucks, most of the time December does not.-These facts and others over the last week of so, I have gone from a 20% cash position in my 401k to 5%. I also will be looking to move my money in my IRAs into the market, I am guessing, this week.-Too many of my friends are just beginning to but short positions on when I believe the majority of that game is done for now. Who knows in a couple of months or even weeks from now?-I am hoping for a multi-day sell off to use that weakness to get long.
Markets will be volatile this week but I believe bulls will have an upper hand unless we see very bad global cues. I think we should test 6000 on Nifty Once again though it is my guess but volatility is going to be there for sure.Reliance Petro is out of F & O ban and watch the action in this counter now. GMR Infra will be subdued because of F & O curb but since this will be for few days we should see action in this counter once the placement news on this comes out today.IFCI will move once again towards 95 and then book profits again.

Good morning to all my readers. It is Monday Morning and time to put on thinking cap. There has been lot of inflows in the last few months and with this the bulls were creating new records and sensex was moving from one milestone to another. This has bought in new expectations from the investors and they are so high, it is akin to asking Yuvaraj to hitting six sixes an over every time he comes in to bat. Investors now want 50% to 100% returns in less than a month. Is this possible ? No.....It is expecting very high returns in quick time. Normally if you get a return of anything above 20% in a year, it is considered as good returns in stock market since we get less than 10% in an FD.However there have been many stocks in the past few months which have given more than 50% returns in less than 2 months and some even 100% returns. I had infact given 100% returns as target for one year but they were achieved in a month. Now investors are caught in two minds, Fear and Greed. They fear that st

First up, Murray Chass (of New York Times and FireJoeMorgan.com fame) thinks Boras is regretting turning down the Yankees' extension offer.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels and San Francisco Giants are the three teams most interested in adding Rodriguez, judging from appearances at last week's general managers meetings in Orlando. Others may be studying the situation from the fringes, but only to swoop in if the uber offer fails to materialize. You wonder if agent Scott Boras overplayed his hand, especially if Rodriguez is motivated by trying to get a World Series ring.
"The more Boras talks, the more he sounds like he thinks he erred by o
Overall market doesn’t seem to know what it wants to do—afternoon panic possible, but not probable. Highfliers BIDU, ISRG, FSLR, SOHU, JRJC, SPWR all down nicely—flight to conservative investments like CYGT. I hope every one of you had a good Diwali though markets did not sparkle on Diwali Muhurat trade. This was the first muhurat trade in last seven years where markets closed in negative. This was precisely due to the reason that Markets had run up too fast. If you my remember my comments earlier, I was mentioning how markets were running ahead of fundamentals and so correction was imminent. The much desired correction is happening now and we may see some more downside before we resume the rally again. The reversal will be sharp and fast like it happened at 13500.Focus on specific stocks and buy. GMR infra finally crossed 200 and I am happy that it has crossed this resitant figure of 200 and now we should see 250 as the next target once market reverses. We may see some stocks move up eventhough markets are in negative and Reliance Petro could be one stock where the run up will be huge. Please see my another post which I will be postigng seperately which will explain how quickly valuations
Yawn. So it's a painfully slow news day, with the GM meetings starting today in Orlando. So, hopefully this is the calm before the storm, and we'll have plenty of exciting trades and rumors to keep us entertained through Thursday. But as for today, prepare to catch yourself yawning quite a bit.
This article has two mentions of Cub players
I told you it was a slow news day.
From SignOnSanDiego.com:
The Padres were rebuffed when they asked about Cubs center fielder Felix Pie in May - talks that, had they progressed, likely would have included shortstop Khalil Greene.
And this one has a former Cub and current Cub:
Free-agent Matt Clement wants to return to the Padres and would take a low base salary as part of a one-year deal laced with incentives. Clement had surgery to repair his labrum and rotator cuff in September 2006. Another right-hander on the comeback trail from shoulder surgery, Cubs pitcher Mark Prior, has the Padres on his radar and would become a free agent if Chic

I do! I do! This is a testament to a) my stupidity and b) the simplicity of the WordPress installation/upgrade process. I would never, ever condone performing an upgrade on your website in the middle of Monday morning. Why? Well, that is usually one of the peak times of usage for most websites (unless they are inherently weekend oriented). I would normally have done this task over the weekend, but I had some family in from out of town and just could not get to it. So I thought I would tempt fate this morning.
Luckily (or with God’s grace) everything went very smooth and I am now running the latest version (WordPress 2.3.1). I was planning on installing a new theme along with this upgrade. It’s a theme I’ve been working on myself. You can look forward to that sometime later this week. Maybe today if I’m feeling extremely lucky.

But it was ever-so-short-lived. Better luck next time.
From chicagosports.com:
DENVER -- Imagine my surprise to wake up this morning, get some coffee, leaf through the Denver Post sports section and see the byline of Rockies reliever LaTroy Hawkins staring back at me.
As many Cubs fans recall, during Hawkins' infamous press conference in 2004 to announce he wasn't talking, he told the media that he could do our jobs but we couldn't do his. Three years later, Hawkins is proving he can indeed do our job, though he could probably use an editor and some better deadlines.
So what did you find in his column that didn't make sense, Paulie? (The first bit is an excerpt from LaTroy's piece)
But we're looking on the bright side. We coming home to our purple-crazy fans, and as a team, I can tell you we're looking forward to it.

Solo hay que escuchar estas canciones: Monday Morning 5:19 (la mas conocida), Dream Another Dream, Broken Barbie Doll, Summer’s Over, Untouchable, Hard Candy, Quarantine, Lucky Number, Love Like Semtex, When We’re Together, The Underdogs (increible) y Milk Of Amnesia. Esperemos que vuelva Rialto con algo igual de bueno o si no es mejor no juntarse de nuevo para hacer algo mediocre, aunque su cantante Louis Elliot sigue su propio camino pero no es lo mismo.

Psalm 1161 I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.2 Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.3 The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came upon me; I was overcome by trouble and sorrow.4 Then I called on the name of the LORD : "O LORD, save me!"5 The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.6 The LORD protects the simplehearted; when I was in great need, he saved me.7 Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.
Everything is still down like last night. The only difference is the dollar is super strong today. The EURO has lost a weeks worth of gains just in the last two hours. I wonder if we will do that today.-I am going to start looking for some stocks.
There is an interesting story which I wanted to share with you on this Monday Morning.Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared who announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10.00 . The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys in the forest, went out and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $10.00. As supply started to diminish and villagers started to stop their efforts, he announced that now he would buy them at $20.00.This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon, the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer rate was increased to $25.00 and the supply of monkeys became so scarce that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it.The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $100.00. However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of the man.In the absence of the man, the assistant told the vil

Yet again Scotland won a fitba game - I’m getting a bit too used to us winning games and am starting to think ahead to next summer and investigate flights and hotels to Austria and Switzerland. All Scotland fans know this is a dangerous psychological place to be and is likely to be followed by abject pain when we manage to throw it away.
Saturdays game was the usual fare - we had huge periods of being under the cosh and somehow managed to win - we did have more possession than against France.
Kenny Miller celebrating after scoring a goal - ok so it was a rip off of Boyds goal against Lithuania (I think) but who cares 1 - nil up and less than six minutes on the clock.

Markets tanked on Friday led by Reliance as there was no news of stock split or bonus as was expected. There was lot of speculation that stock split could be announced in the AGM but when this did not come, profit booking started and punters started exiting. The only good thing to cheer about is on the political stability front. We are now certain that there will not be any mid term elections and cong is even ready to dump the nuclear deal to appease the left parties. For the moment this issue is resolved.Markets should open positively today based on the politcal cues adn global cues but I believe that at every rise there will be profit booking and hence we will see correction. If this does not happen and if markets move up again to 19k then we may see a huge meltdown before we touch 20K. The correction at that time will be sharp. I however believe we will have some correction this week as probability is more and not many triggers left for Bulls to lead the charge.IFCI will remain in li
Most of you know that I took a week vacation off from work. It started last Thursday. I thought I'd have more time to blog, but that's not happening. Well, I shouldn't be disappointed because from Thursday to last night, I spent a lot of time with my kids (G and N). They are off from school for a fall break (all week last week). I will share more about their fall break but for now I need to log off and make sure everything is ready for their 1st day back to school. I know... I know we should have done these "making sure everything is ready" last night, but hubby read Harry Potter to us and we took advantage of that reading/family time.Oh, I have so much to do... that's why I posted that photo above :)
Hi folks, here's something to start your day and even week off on a great note. It certainly has mine.Mum sent me this photo this morning via sms (thank God for technology!). Dad had just had breakfast and was happily contemplating his move up to Bunga Raya a bit later.I dashed to IJN and found a whole press scrum downstairs. It seems that someone had told them that Dad would be discharged today. Not quite true! But for the moment, the move up to the 5th floor is good enough for us.Here's me and Dad up at Bunga Raya. Doesn't he look good? Had lunch of spaghetti marinara, salad, fruit and pudding after that.Things are looking up!Talking of good news, Mum visited Hui Yi this morning. She's awake, looking good and even holding two thumbs up in triumph. Her parents are by her side and beside themselves with joy. And the Sarawakian lung recipient is also up on his bed and doing good.An appeal...Dear folks, one of the things that often happens during Ramadan is that our blood supplies ru
US markets closed strongly on Friday and so the opening will be very strong in our markets also. We should touch 18K in the opening trade and then we may see some volatility again.I am still of the view that you should refrain yourself from the market for atleast another week and enjoy the show. I will guide you on a daily basis and only after we get the required signals we will enter the market. However if you cannot refrain yourself from market, then you can trade on a day to day basis with momentum stocks like Reliance, Reliance capital, SBI, Infosys, GMR Infra, IFCI etc. However this is a very risky thing to do. Choice is yours.Powergrid corp is an excellent scrip for long term. However its price has run up more than what the fundamentals warrant. Try to buy this scrip if it comes to around 80 levels. It should come to level when we see some correction.IFCI has corrected as expected and there will be lot of volatility in this and the stock will keep moving up from 80 to 100 levels
Well, another lovely Monday morning, and i actually mean it this time. The sun's out, the air's cool, and autumn's in the air. Halloween is just around the corner! So i bring to you a haiku, yay.Time For Autumn's Fall Air Cool, The Leaves Tumble Down The Season Has Come

From the Trib:
When the Cubs open the National League Division Series on Wednesday at Arizona, Chase Field will have a definite Chicago flavor, from the box seats to center field to second base to the announcer's booth.
That includes former White Sox farmhand Chris Young and all the displaced Cubs fans who live in the Valley of the Sun.
It also includes two all-time favorite Cubs, Mark Grace and Augie Ojeda, who have become Diamondbacks darlings and thus have switched allegiances, though somewhat grudgingly.
"Those are times I will never forget," Ojeda said of playing at Wrigley Field, where fans would give him standing ovations. "Not many players at this level get adopted like that. It's rare when it happens.
"It's awesome to play in front of fans who cheer for you and support you whatever you do. It's special and makes you want to play harder."
Little Ojeda - he's listed at 5 feet 8 inches and 165 pounds - played in 1
We had a huge run in the Naqdaq as it hit the new recovery high but after five minutes of big buying everything stopped. I have been trading around going both long and short today. Basically keeping my broker happy. Turning to figure out the sector of the day either up or down.
Is it a good sign when you wake up Monday morning completely exhausted? Yeah, I didn't think so.
My weekend was a busy one, full of "chicken duty" and I'm sure that really interests y'all too, right? You're just dying to read a post full of details about smelly, dead chickens and worse, aren't ya? Once again, I didn't think so. I'll be kind and spare you the agony.
Both Spud and Sis woke up Sunday with soar throats and stuffy noses. Lord, please don't let this last all winter. It seems once they start, it continues until spring.
Spud has decided to be a Star Wars Clone Trooper for halloween. I had to order his costume off the internet, since, of course, he picked something you can't find in any store. Now each morning I'm awakened with the question, "Do you think this will be the day my package comes?" I guess the $40 bucks it would have cost to over-night it might have been worth it after all.

Like a war zone and I’m in the line of fire, just waiting for the shit to hit the fan. Maybe the call up on Wednesday isn’t such a bad idea after all.
Just a quick post to let everyone know I’m alive.
Most of my blogging time for the past week (and weeks to come) is being totally consumed by the monstrous task of moving 100’s of posts from the diet pulpit on wordpress to it’s new location on my very own dot com domain. I am also moving a huge amount of content over from one of the very first blogs I started (with Mama Kelly) - incredible shrinking ladies (about 12 months worth). (why you ask - because I want a lot of history to the blog when it opens, and I’m probably insane and just don’t know it.) Since most of these posts were written way back when before I had any blogging experience - I am taking the time to rewrite a lot of stuff. Not to mention the giant learning curve to do even the simpliest thing - which can be so frustrating - for example it took me hours and hours just to figure out how to install a plugin so the youtube videos would work. Once you have wor
This market is very frustrating or maybe we are just at one of those points. There are so many ways of looking at this market right now. We are at the top of the 2 plus trading range. We went from the bottom to the top of that range way too fast. It should have failed. Now we are kind of hanging out at the top. The longer we are here the greater the chance we will break out of the top of the range and retest the previous high.-We are waiting for the Fed right now. It seems like every thing they could or could not do, will let the market down. A classic buy the rumor, sell the fact type of market.-What happens if we combine the two, the Fed move causes the market to break out of it ranges for a day then fails - do we hit the bottom of the range or retest the low?-When the market falls into this type of scenario, a trader must be very flexible. They can not put too many lines in the sand or stick to one idea. Markets that are just trending up or down, you can sell or buy the ralli

The link can be found in the left side bar of my blog. He is adorable, inspiring & an all round nice guy. Drop by & say hello.
This past weekend was spent mostly hanging out with Mama Kelly - she spent Saturday cooking up a storm while we chatted about life, blogging, and everything else under the sun as only two long term heart-sisters and best friends can. She had all burners going, chopping and mixing and kept the kitchen clean at the same time - she is truly a kitchen witch.
Our brainstorming led to some very cool and creative ideas for our blogging in the future. I was thrilled to have gotten some ideas for The Diet Pulpit sorted out and a bit more concrete. Having it’s own domain and original theme is coming closer so it’s important I get some final decisions made as to how I’m going to organize it and develop it, so that it doesn’t end up just being a hodge podge of bits and pieces.
I always leave wishing I lived closer and could see Mama Kelly and my goddess-daughters more often. But at least we have some fun times planned for the future. Early Nov. our familie
I think the theme of the day will be DRINK LOTS OF COFFEE.-Very little is moving. CROX is going crazy. CFC is getting hit again. The the craziest stock is ACH - up 25% so far.-I think I will do a lot of reading today.
Nice catch, JJ. Cubs aren't murderous
Which, on the surface, seems good, but really isn't.
From the Trib:
As the Cubs take a day off on Monday before their biggest series since 2004, a three-game showdown against second-place Milwaukee at Wrigley Field, it's hard to pinpoint exactly where they are.
The standings say they're still in first place, 1 1/2 games ahead of the Brewers after a 5-4 loss to Arizona on Sunday at Chase Field.
But they're also only three games over .500 at 66-63, and seem to lack the killer instinct that most championship-caliber teams possess.
After breaking out with a three-run first inning against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, starter Jason Marquis coughed up five runs over the next two innings-including a pair of home runs by Chris Young-to put the Cubs back behind the 8-ball.
The offense was then shut down by Arizona's bullpen, leaving the Cubs 3-3 on a road trip in which they won the first two games.

Ladies and gentleman, sir Peter King in this week's edition of Monday Morning Quarterback...1. I think the latest example of the idiocy of the preseason came Saturday night in St. Louis, when two of the three or four best backs in football, LaDainian Tomlinson and Steven Jackson, played a total of one play in the Rams' preseason game against San Diego. "He's definitely a guy I wouldn't put in in the preseason,'' Tomlinson said of Jackson. What a boondoggle. Owners should be ashamed. The league should be ashamed. I'm not advocating Jackson and Tomlinson play -- not at all. Teams should do what they think is in their best interest to get ready for the season. Curtis Martin used to tell Herman Edwards he needed 20 or 25 summer carries to get ready for the real games, and that's what Edwards did with the Jets each August. Tomlinson obviously needs none, and the Rams think Jackson needs very few. Fine. But don't fleece the fans.Boondoggle? Golly gee whiz Batman. Boondoggle!!!So le

Two wins in a row, The Beast lookin like a stud, and that hussy's gotta go and soak Chicago.
From the Trib:
The Cubs slowed down the red-hot Cardinals when they came to town, and now Mother Nature has slowed the suddenly red-hot Cubs by washing away their best pitcher.
Carlos Zambrano pitched three perfect innings against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field on Sunday night, but rain forced postponement of the game, meaning he will miss his favorite team.
"I was feeling good," Zambrano said of the shortened session. "The good news is Milwaukee lost and we picked up half a game [in the NL Central]."
No makeup date was announced for the rainout, although the teams have mutual open dates on Aug. 27 and on Sept. 10.
Because this is the Cardinals' last trip to Chicago, the players' association and Major League Baseball will have to be involved in the decision.
Monday's series finale remains a 1:20 p.m. start.

I heard so much noise about the VIX and how high it has gotten. Give me a break. In the mid-90's it got down to the range of 10-15 for a while but spent most of the late 90's thru 2002 in a range of 20 to 30. That is where we are right now and we had some really good trading markets back then. We were there in the late 80's and early 90's too.

I wasn't watching the game, so I don't know the complete context of the situation, but Tulowitzki's been quite hot of late - any good reason why the intentionally walked Matsui to get to him?
From the Trib:
Piniella used the same lineup for the fourth straight game, but the fourth time was not a charm. After getting five hits in the three-run fourth to take a 3-2 lead, the next 14 Cubs hitters went down in order before Jason Kendall walked with one out in the ninth. The Cubs finished with no hits in their final 16 at-bats.
"We had chances early in the ballgame," Piniella said. "We didn't take advantage of it."
The absence of Alfonso Soriano and Aramis Ramirez put the load on Derrek Lee's shoulders, but Lee finished the trip at .154 (4-for-26) with no extra-base hits. Ramirez is expected back Tuesday.

Well, hello, Kerry! It's so nice to have you back where you belong. Please, please, please, Fonzie... get well soon
Unless Felix can continue the Iowa magic up here, we're screwed without the Fonz.
From the Daily Herald:
On a night when history was made at Wrigley Field, destiny also showed up and took a bite out of the Cubs' chances to get to the playoffs.
Around the country, Sunday's game will be remembered as the night Tom Glavine recorded his 300th career win in an 8-3 New York Mets win over the Cubs. In Chicago, the night will be remembered as the night Alfonso Soriano suffered a severe quad injury in his right leg.
Running from first base in the third inning Sunday, Soriano rounded second on a single by Ryan Theriot but pulled up lame halfway to third and hopped to the base, where he was tagged out. He left the game, underwent an MRI and put a start to the process of figuring out what the Cubs are going to do now.
"Soriano is not going to be out there any time soon,''
This weekend (August 4th) I was going to post a photo of beautiful Marilyn as a tiny tribute to her on the Anniversary of her death, but I was tired, in a 'funk' and could barely bring myself to blog to begin with, so today, two days late, I remember Marilyn.
Today as I look at the calendar to see what the kids and husband have going on (one at a sleepover, another with back to back babysitting
This stuff on the Boob Tube drives me crazy. You are beginning to see more and more people state we are in a pattern where we sell off late in the week and than bounce on Monday and Tuesday. When too many people see the same pattern, then that is when the most of them will get hurt.-The stats do tell us that the majority of time when the Trin closes over 3.o on NYSE, we gap higher and close higher by more than 1.2%. A wonderful service that provides tons of stats like this is SentimenTrader.com. So this means two things, either we close lower today or well below the open or we rally the entire week and not sell off on Friday.-The other item of craziness in CNBC getting all excited about Crude at 80. We have had a good pull back in the oil market and the COT numbers show the commercial are super short Crude and they are the smart money. I think it is stupid to go against the smart money.
Most of the speciality programs the CNBC puts on I like - examples looking at Wal Mart or Mc Donalds but the series Being or Thinking or Wanting to be a Millionaire drives me crazy. The format is like a game show and Erin is over the top with her comments but in the last show I saw, a few points stuck out to me:1) The Tax laws are written by the rich to mainly help the rich.20 Poor people think like poor people, middle class like middle class and rich like rich.3) Most rich people help each other stay rich or get richer.4) The biggest line that stuck me is the middle class wants security while the rich want freedom. Freedom and security are opposites of each other in the business world. Think about it. Security is working for someone else. Freedom is working for yourself.
Way to be, D-Lee. Z carries Cubs to victory
All aboard the Venezuelan Express.
From the Daily Herald:
CINCINNATI - Carlos Zambrano outpitched the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.
That's no big surprise.
Zambrano has outpitched just about everybody for the past two months.
Zambrano also outhit the Reds while he was in Sunday's easy 6-0 victory. The Cubs' big right-hander surrendered only 2 hits over 7º innings while stroking 3 singles of his own.
His manager said to forget about the hitting.
"The story of this game was Zambrano and his pitching," said Lou Piniella, whose club improved to 55-48. "Forget his hitting. Just his pitching."
The 26-year-old Zambrano has been pitching, pitching, pitching since early June, when he declared a new season for himself after a rough start. With this win, he improved to 14-7 and lowered his ERA from 3.65 to 3.47.
...
The only thing that stopped Zambrano on Sunday was cramps in his right calf. He also got hit on the right foot with a batted ball
Ok, so I was out and about on Saturday morning. I grabbed this snap at about 8.30am in what appears to be a fairly quiet location. It could be anywhere, but it's only a few yards from a busy junction. A beautiful spot, but where was I?
Good time for a day off, huh? Cubs' bats need vitamins
Good thing D-Lee is coming back.
From the Daily Herald:
It seemed like the final chapter of a heartening homestand could be penned before the Cubs even took the field Sunday.
Given the clutch hitting, dominant starting pitching, shrewd managing and unbridled optimism at Wrigley Field during the last week-and-a-half, all that was left was a flourishing finish.
So much for good karma.
Instead, the Cubs’ North Side stay ended quietly, with another weak offensive performance against a formidable pitching staff. The Cubs managed only 4 hits against four Arizona Diamondbacks pitchers and fell 3-0 Sunday before 41,705.
After outscoring the Astros, Giants and Diamondbacks 54-26 in the first eight games of the homestand, the Cubs produced only 2 runs and 8 hits in the final two contests. The Cubs dropped a series for the first time in the second half and lost consecutive games for the first time since June 20-21.

For the first time at home since '84? Really?
From the Daily Herald:
From his post in right field, Mark DeRosa periodically scans the crowd, taking in the hilarity, debauchery and creativity native to the Wrigley Field bleachers.
The inventive, homemade signs Cubs fans display are particularly entertaining for DeRosa.
“I really get a kick out of the signs,” DeRosa said Sunday. “I see a couple of them flying around, the ‘It’s gonna happen’ signs. Hopefully we buy into that.”
The Cubs are subscribing to the same optimism their fans have long advocated — and been mocked for — as they chase a division title. Their faith was tested again Sunday after the Houston Astros went ahead 5-0 in the second inning.
And again, the Cubs answered. First with a 6-run second inning. Then with a shut-down performance from a once-beleaguered bullpen.
The result was a 7-6 victory before 41,757

Does a manic team breed a manic fan base?
From the Daily Herald:
If this is what Wrigley Field is like after the Cubs make it back to .500, imagine the madness that awaits if they keep playing like they have of late.
On a perfect day for baseball on the North Side, the Cubs erased the memory of a Saturday thumping by jumping out to an early lead and then, behind the revived arm of starter Jason Marquis, cruising to a 5-1 victory over the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers.
It was the second victory in the three-game set for the Cubs (40-40), a series witnessed by 124,810, making it the largest three-game attendance figure in the history of Wrigley Field.
“It was such an awesome environment to be a part of,” said Mark DeRosa, right fielder for the day. “To listen to the crowd erupt (after the final out), it’s one of the great feelings there is … it’

Defensive interference? Jose Uribe is stupid. The Daily Herald, my normal first stop on the headlines bus line, had only the AP recap this morning. Springboard to success, or springboard into a brick wall?
Which course will our beloved Cubbies choose?
From the Sun-Times:
''Earlier in the year we were making a lot of mistakes, and it became an expectation,'' manager Lou Piniella said Sunday before the Cubs finished off the sweep with a 3-0 victory. ''Now they come fewer and farther between, and it surprises me when it happens. That tells me it's getting better.''
Along the way, they've started to take on the look of a team Piniella is molding into his own, rather than the one he inherited in spring training. Consider that from the Opening Day lineup, left fielder Matt Murton is in the minors, catcher Micha
And it's raining as well. Ho hum. Still, at least I will be bored in a different location today. And depending on whether or not anyone bothered to check my emails in the two weeks I've been off I might be spending the day going through thousands of spam messages in my inbox rather than actually getting anything done. My pay cheque should be waiting for me though, thank heavens - I really need it at this point. If I can avoid at least five conversations along the lines of 'Did you have a good holiday?' it will be something.Haven't heard anything more from Virgin Media about what they are planning to do to sort out the cable mess of their making. I will send an email later on. Wonder if I can get some kind of compensation out of this.
