Two days ago when I stood on the scale for the first time in a month, I had a very pleasant surprise as you guys already know. But right after that I started to have mixed feelings which sound paranoid, but it’s true.
Let me explain. Since I started this blog, I’ve [...]
My initial reaction to seeing that the Democratic Party had gone though with plans to hold a religious service at their convention was more than just disgust. I thought, "For the first time in more than 15 years, I can no longer consider myself a Democrat." I resolved that I would vote for Obama because I cannot bear the thought of the third Bush term McCain promises and not because I necessarily
Morning,
so Mikael Silvestre is a an Arsenal player. How very odd. The club confirmed the signing of the former United man yesterday for a fee believed to be around £750,000 and he signed a 2 year deal. Arsene Wenger said:
We have a strong squad but a young squad and Mikael’s versatility, experience and calibre will provide the extra depth we need to reinforce our challenge for honours

I took Lilly to T-Ball practice tonight and I swelled with pride as she peppered the infield with each cut she took during BP. She goes well to the opposite field and she’s kind of a slappy, a la Ichiro. I can picture her batting lead-off for the Mariners when Mr. Suzuki retires, batting a [...]
Kevin Jones, the Detroit Lions running back, is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list and the club has until Sept. 1 to make a big decision - either activate him to the roster or keep him on PUP where he’ll miss the first five games of the season. There are differing viewpoints within the organization: the offensive coaching staff — desperate to get their running game cranked up — want Jones back as soon as possible while the front office wants to be more cautious. Neither side is going to expose Jones to any unnecessary risk, but there are valid points on both sides of this issue. Reported by Tom Kowalski, MLive

The Lions will be forced to make a decision here pretty quick so we’ll be watching closely. Even though they say he stands a 50-50 chance of being activated, I think they’re more pessimistic than they’re leading on.
Just watched Ireland’s first warm up game for the impending World Cup and it’s difficult to sum up how I felt about it. The important result was…the result, obviously and Scotland deservedly won by 31 points to 21.
Ireland were completely outplayed in the first half, Scotland’s pack were immense. But for about twenty minutes in the second half Ireland got the upper-hand and scored two good tries. I thought they were going to nick it then. But alas it was not to be and Scotland scored with seven minutes to go to kill off any comeback. Overall I think it’s just what both teams needed. A toughly contested game, a few tries and relatively few injuries.
Shane Horgan twisted his knee in the warm up before the game and Chris Cusiter left in the final minutes with a twisted ankle. At the moment there’s no news on either player, I hope both of them come through. One player I was glad to see coming back to form was Geordan Murphy.

Formula 1 drivers have expressed mixed feelings about whether they will miss Magny-Cours, which is staging its final grand prix this weekend.
The twisty 2.7-mile circuit near Nevers in the upper Loire valley is unloved by the F1 fraternity because of its remote location, lack of hotels and poor access.
Several drivers spoke up for the track on Thursday, however, saying they enjoyed its varied technical challenges and in particular its three fast corners – the long Estoril right-hander and more…
GREG Blewett retires satisfied he "had a dip and made a stand" for South Australia but lamenting an unfulfilled Test career.
Underneath, 46-Test batsman Blewett believes he should still be wielding the willow for the Redbacks but has no beef with SACA.
Blewett fell out with a selection panel that terminated his career last year with a year to run on his state contract.
"I had some issues with certain individuals that are involved with the SACA and will probably continue to have those issues," Blewett, who now regrets calling selectors "clowns", said.
"I think ideally I could still play for a couple of years, physically. I don't necessarily agree with a lot of things that have happened in the past 12 months but I accept them."
Blewett's demise started when he mustered 618 Pura Cup runs at 32.5 in 2004-2005.
He was dropped in February 2006 from the four-day set-up after managing 270 runs at 24.5. Blewett averaged 59 in the domestic limited-over
The success of the Super Aguri team at Barcelona has resulted in mixed feelings for Honda team boss Nick Fry.
Against all odds, the Leafield-based ‘B-team’ scored a point at Barcelona when Super Aguri’s Takuma Sato brought his car home in eighth, with teammate Anthony Davidson finishing eleventh, sandwiched by the two works’ cars.

I've always voted for the Democrats, and I have no question that progressive values are a better guide for America than the "family values" preached by conservatives. Still, I have some difficulty sticking to the party line that America should rapidly withdraw from Iraq because the Iraqi people are somehow not honoring their obligation to maintain their own security. In all honesty, I suppose you could say that this is a question on which I am still undecided. The American invasion and widespread destruction of Iraq were unjust and clearly a mistake. There were no links between Al Qaeda and Iraq, Saddam bore no demonstrable responsibility for 9/11, and Iraq had no WMDs. The American people were misled to war and will pay the price of this betrayal for decades. The eventual outcome in this region, no matter how positive it could someday be, does not change these fact. The ends do not justify the means. The neocons took us into Iraq largely because of oil and the hope of permanent milit
