Weak passion for God = Weak passion for Missions
If the pursuit of God's glory is not ordered above the pursuit of man's good in the affections of the heart and the priorities of the church, man will not be well served, and God will not be duly honored. I am not pleading for a diminishing of missions but for a magnifying of God. When the flame of worship burns with the heat of God's true worth, the light of missions will shine to the darkest peo

The trip is being sponsored by the church Maria works for, Grace Church of Eden Prairie, MN.The trip is coming up at the end of July, from July 25 - August 4, 2008, and we have just decided in the last week or so that we wanted to participate in this trip. It's exciting and scary at the same time. Exciting because we know that we can make a difference by partnering in this ministry, but scary because now we have the daunting task of raising the money so that we can go. $2500 per person! With all this in mind I would ask the readers of this blog for their help and partnership as we embark on this trip. The Unique Way To Missions
Loved Of The LORD,So many times, as we have been ministering, I have been asked about the process to be involved in Missions. All I can say is that the way GOD took me,(And later The wife of my youth, with me.) was contrary to any Church &/or Group Mission ways that I know about. Most Missionaries have to drum up support to so much a month, (around $20 - $40 thousand a year) before they are sent. This might be a new term for you, but to go along with that"Special Uniqueness" of our calling, we found ourselves a part of a special breed called “Cowboy Missionaries”. Below is a portion of a very Good article on the normal Deputation process. Check out the link for the full article!Missionary deputation is often looked upon as "the pits," a horrible experience through which fledgling missionaries must pass in order to become "real missionaries." "If only we could avoid deputation," say some who claim that otherwise they would consider missionary service. Ernest D. Pickering, Th.D.

      Questions about Missions
I figured rather then write, I wanted to ask some questions. I’ve had a discussion recently concerning short term missions and I wanted to hear some of my readers opinions. I’m curious what everyones take is on the issue of short term missions, global missions, western missionaries, etc. So, here are my questions:1. What do you think about short term missions? Do they do more harm then good, or vice versa? 2. Have you heard of indigenous missionaries? If so, what do you think of them? 3. On a Biblical level, what do you think a typical (U.S.) Christian’s role is as it relates to the ‘Great Commission’? 4. Do you think ‘Western’ Missionaries bring more ‘colonizing’ then they do ‘evangilizing’? I know these might be leading questions in some ways, but I wanted to give an indication of the angle I’m looking at them from. Feel free to disagree with any or all, or critique the premise. I’d just love to hear your t

And above, the battle rages in the air as well, as Earth forces fight for the survival of their planet against the alien Covenant. But frankly it's hard to take it all in, given I'm running for my life.Bungie Studios recently invited a small group of journalists from around the globe to their offices in suburban Seattle for an exclusive taste of "Halo 3"'s single-player mode. missions AT HOME.. and abroad…
I’m spending this week preparing for my big trip to Nepal. This will be my third annual journey to this country where we’ve been teaching and training pastors and church leaders. This is my favorite kind of (overseas) mission work. Instead of showing up and doing what only we can do, and then leaving.. we are instead, equipping and training the leaders of that country, (very few of them have the privilege of education).. to study their Bibles and prepare their own Bible studies. Most of these folks are geared to learn by “imitation”.. so what they do, is imitate a sermon they heard, make it their own, and add it to their list of 3 or 4 other sermons. It is SOOOOO cool taking these guys through the process of building their own sermon. When the light-bulbs went on in their heads last year (Wow, I just wrote a sermon!!!).. .. it was incredibly exciting. We’re also kicking off our down-town outreach this Friday night. (more…)

      Batam Missions Update
I’m going to start with a country which is actually outside the 10/40 window, which I haven’t been able to visit yet, and so after this, I guess I won’t be writing too much about it until I do get there one day! Apologies, Kamal, Dennis & brethren, I know you keep inviting me!Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world (after China, India and USA). The latest statistics I can find (July 2006) show a population of 245 million, of which slightly more than half live on the island of Java. It is 88% Muslim and is the most populous Muslim country in the world. That is, there are at least 50 million more Muslims in Indonesia than the populations of Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia combined. Another sad fact to consider: about 200 thousand Indonesians were wiped out in the Dec 2004 tsunami. Our ministry is in the island of Batam, and my two trips there were 1) 2004 - for prayer kick off and 2) 2005 - a SF one-day outing, which involved sight-seeing, eating and shop

Valerie Plame Wilson: I worked on secret missions
There's a lot of speculation that her opening statement is totally fabricated and full of lies. Investigations with neighbors revealed that in fact many of them did in fact know she worked for the CIA. Many attest that she was never a covert CIA operative at all, just an average managerial employee. Her statements about Scooter Libby are very carefully worded to implicate him without saying it directly. I don't know for sure if she was recklessly exposed by the administration for purely political reasons. To be perfectly honest it wouldn't surprise me greatly to hear that was the case. My question though is if she is caught in some bald faced lies will she be treated as harshly as Scooter Libby? ~RJH CNN story link Valerie Plame Wilson: I worked on secret missionsPOSTED: 11:52 a.m. EDT, March 16, 2007 Story Highlights• Plame says she worked secretly to get details on Iraq's alleged WMD programs• Tells House committee her covert identity was not generally known• Says she was shoc
