      My Parents Were Missionaries
My parents were missionaries. My dad is a pastor. They’re supposed to be good people. I wonder what my church would say if I let them know that my dad has broken three of my ribs, two of my teeth, and given me a concussion. I hate smiling during his sermons like a hypocrite. I [...]

Missionaries, Living with the Mek Tribe
While TV is overrated, over viewed, and an overgrown jungle of commercialism, there are shows that I enjoy. In particular is a program called, Living with the Mek Tribe: The Adventures of Mark and Olly, on every Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on the Travel Channel. Every week I look forward to the scenery, the simplicity, and the sage wisdom spewed from the mouths of the naked inhabitants of Papua New Guinea.Dig out any cultural anthropologists dictionary of dirty words, and you will discover the vile language uttered and discussed on this weeks episode: MISSIONARY. It is true, isolated cultures world wide have been eternally altered by crusaders of various religious messages. More often than not, they are credited with atrocities by anthropological academia; disease, cultural decimation, exploitati

“Cowboy Missionaries On The Go!” - - - - - - Re: 'Cowboy Crane Operators'
I have a need to explain a little more about this term “Cowboy”! Back in the late fifties and early sixties I was working on Missile Silos at Vandenberg AFB, and these Silos are around 200 feet deep. After we dug them and ‘slip formed’ the poured in place concrete, Structural Iron Workers erected the Crib Iron in the Silo. Most Iron Workers are Cowboys themselves, ‘Daring’ just a part of their characters. The crane operator was extremely good and would bring these men out of the hole in a ‘Man Cage’ and they would be egging him on, yelling and jumping, bouncing the cage. He got so that as soon as the cage cleared the hole, he would swing the boom quickly to half way between the hole & where the cage was supposed to be set down. As the cage was swinging really fast, he would agilely swing the boom over to where he would at the last minute gently placed the cage on the X that marked the landing spot. This operator was GOOD! And so, the Iron Workers called him a ‘Cowb

Cowboy Missionaries That Are Not Cowboys!
How far do you have to back up to get continuity? I will fill in this gap, as The Book progresses; To Continue:We met this family in a Church that “we found our selves in”, (A Story in Itself!) and to us they were believers … yet not judging, they seemed some what nominal to us. We tried every thing not to fellowship with them, except outright rudeness. Every Sunday and I mean ‘Every Sunday they invited us over to their house for dinner and fellowship. Now I did not need to Talk about GOD all the time, yet our conversations were always mundane and secular. When we would interject something a little bit spiritual, it very seldom got much traction. Nevertheless, we kept plugging along. And AND A N D we soon ‘Knew’ that GOD had put us together. And we became really good friends!FAMILY!This Church was basic Fundamental, Evangelical, Non Charismatic, where we could probably be labeled as Pentecostal who had served in a light … well Charismatic Denomination for over 20 years.(Th

      Mormon Missionaries Forgive Attackers
For those who read the sad news in an earlier blog, Skinheads Assault Mormon Missionaries, about my nephew and his companion who are serving as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, there’s this article from Bolton News that might interest you. Both of the young Elders impress me. To be a part of such a beating, and then to unconditionally forgive your offenders, I think that exemplifies charity, the true love of Christ. From what I understand Elder’s Herrey and Woolsey are feeling better and are happy in continuing their work, teaching the gospel of Christ - the gospel of peace. Of course, happenings such as this leave a mark on the soul, so it’s just my wish that we keep praying for them, that the Lord’s strength will keep them and guide them always. Brother Louis

      Skinheads Assault Mormon Missionaries
I was reached by chocking news today. My nephew, who is serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was together with his companion assaulted cruelly by a band of ten skinheads in Bolton, England last night. While the two missionaries were severely battered a vehicle passed by with flashing light, scaring off the offenders. “Without the arrival of the car we probably wouldn’t have survived,” my nephew told his father, seemingly aware of the gang’s fatal intention. Currently he and his companion are in the hospital being treated for multiple injuries. Naturally, my brother and his family are in a state of emotional turmoil right now. And although not parents of the victims, me and my wife’s hearts are turned to Sebastian, whom we love so dearly, and to his companion. We honor them for their bravery and pray for their fast recovery. Sadly, persecution has always been geared toward our Church. From the very beginning, verbal and

      Ransom paid for the missionaries?
Was there a ransom paid to secure the release of the South Korean missionary fools, or wasn't there? Reuters reported yesterday that a Taliban leader had spilled the beans: "We got more than $20 million dollars from them (the Seoul government)," the commander told Reuters on condition of anonymity. "With it we will purchase arms, get our communication network renewed and buy vehicles for carrying out more suicide attacks." "The money will also address to some extent the financial difficulties we have had," he said, but did not elaborate. ... However Qari Mohammad Yousuf, a Taliban spokesman, later told Reuters no ransom was paid, saying it would discredit the group. There was no immediate explanation for the discrepancy. Seoul, of course, denies everything: "We deny any payment for the release of South Korean hostages," an official at South Korea's presidential Blue House said on Saturday. Meanwhile, the hostages are finally back in South Korea, where their welcome was a bit less

Please pray for the kidnapped Korean Christian Missionaries
Eddy Liu Request I’ve just read an article about 23 christians being kidnapped by the Taliban. 1 was killed in the process. It’s hard to imagine what kind of suffering they have to endure. I saw a picture of them found on a website and most of them are women. It’s impossible for me to imagine what horrible things would be done to them and how it would effect their spiritual walk. Please pray for those people. Hope they can get out of it safely. Afterall they were doing God’s work. Pray for them please.

      23 missionaries kidnapped
In Afghanistan, the Taliban have kidnapped 23 Christian missionaries from South Korea. It's no loss. Missionaries have no business being there in the first place, just stirring up more trouble, and if this will discourage other idiots from going there, so much the better (most missionaries have a tendency to spread the word in places where there's no danger they'll meet the Lord a bit sooner than they expected): "Twenty-three Korean citizens, 15 women and five men, were very carelessly traveling in a chartered bus from Kabul to Kandahar yesterday, on the way to Kandahar their bus was stopped by armed men ... and they took them away," said Interior Minister spokesman Zemari Bashari. ... "They are safe with us, we are investigating them and our demands and reaction will be announced later." said Taliban spokesman Said Yousuf Ahmadi by telephone from an undisclosed location. ... Two Germans and six Afghans were abducted southwest of Kabul on Wednesday and are still missing. "The Germa

      Christian Missionaries: Curse on India
Christian Missionaries is a disease on India and some VHP type doctors must wanted to fix it. Yesterday few guys attacked on a Principal cum pastor for encouraging school children to eat meat, Principle is seriously injured and hospitalized. This allegation sounds stupid but these missionaries are doing their business very well by providing them some money and job to poor Indians in lieu of their religion. My favorite fast food corner's owner is also converted from Muslim to Christian because missionaries paid him Rs. 7,00,000 and look he is happy now. Shall all poor Indians adopt Christianity as our religion is unable to fulfill our desires, then 60 percent Indians will be Christian, no matter who you are Hindu OR Muslim. Look at Kerala where you cant find any other religion except Christianity because of religion based bribe, I mean if anybody change its religion thats ok but its not fair to deal with money and job, like bring your old TV and get a new one, thats why Graham Stewart S
